I started listening to Mumford & Sons a few years back. In retrospect it was part of a very distinctive phase in my life, and as I grew out of that part of my life, I sort of stopped listening to the music to. They have been an amazing re-discovery and I'm remembering all the reasons I loved their music to begin with. I was wondering what other thoughts there may be on the subject?

As long as people are listening to more Portugal. The Man, whoever says anything is find by me... Don't want to go too far off topic, but I would toss a suggestion or two at more Mumford and Sons.

my biggest scheduling fear is that vampire weekend will be set to play the main stage right before mmj and the national 'headline' the bigfoot. if i'm forced to miss the national and watch the lameness that is vampire weekend in order to be up close for mmj, i'll be pissed. i suppose it would be either that or catch half the national and then watch mmj from the hill. don't fuck me on this one, adam zacks. Pretty sure you're good on this one considering both Vampire Weekend and The National are playing main stage... I would bet that it would look more like Broken Social Scene, The National, Vampire Weekend, then MMJ on the main stage that Saturday.

Haha, yeah, right. They're not even playing on the same day, and A.Z. hinted pretty damn strongly on his tumblr that it'd be Demi Lovato/Jonas Brothers on Sunday night, in conjunction with and kind of as a warmup for the summer tour the JBs are doing with Demi opening. Gaga, may I remind you, is playing Saturday's subheadliner spot, but will probably get a full set like NIN did last year. I only say this because I really only think she's going on before King Crimson is seniority. Besides that, I really think that making Saturday Crimson/Gaga and Sunday Jonases takes a lot of credit away from Stomp as a draw to the festival... making them festival closer for Monday means they're playing for a crowd of maybe 5,000 disinterested slackers who got/finagled Tuesday off too as opposed to a 15,000+ strong crowd. Another huge mistake: Sasquatch! really should've made Katy the Jorge Stage headliner instead of the subheadliner on the main and swapped her set spot with The Residents... not that there's a strong Residents/Stomp fan overlap, but it's probably bigger than the Perry/Stomp one. This doesn't ruin the festival, it's really more business. Does anyone not think that Flobots (5:00/Jorge) versus Biz Markie (4:45/Yeti) is the toughest conflict? Again, there's definitely at least 1000 people who want to see both and will have to choose. It's not like there are a bunch of Lightning Bolt or Squeeze fans who can't make it until 7, so either could switch spots with Flobots/Biz... it was hard enough choosing between The Knux and Mrs. Potato Dick... The intricacy alone is something to applaud... Bravo good sir, BRAVO!

Yeah I remember having a discussion about this one too... But I would say start off with "It's Complicated Being a Wizard," that album is awesome. It begins as one long song, then the subsequent tracks or highlights of the former. Then listen to Majestic Majesty.
It's Complicated being a Wizard has that feel of some out of this world journey, the parts that are called "Black Magic," and "Sapphire Magic," are pretty amazing in their own right.
Majestic Majesty has a version of Lovers in Love that I enjoy way more that The Satanic Satanists' version. "Work All Day," and "The Home," are pretty exceptional too. The rest of the album kind of fluctuations through different sounds of music, going from a bluegrass folk, to an electronic based rock.

I do not... DO NOT, like the sound of a "solar stage," aside from the small benefit it'll have for conservation... In terms of sound and show, this makes me very weary... Green stages are great concepts on board, but from my experience awful in practice...

Aiming for about the same time, only problem is, I'm driving from AZ which is an easy 20-25 hr drive depending on which route I take, and I may not be able to leave until Thursday afternoon... late night roadtrips are the best... not.

I got a premiere camping pass too, a few weeks ago I was going to have 5 people in my car, and now it's back to two, (myself included,) worst comes to worst maybe there's a way we could arrange some car shuffle if only at the gate... that is if they're going to be real sticklers about it.

You know I honestly thought that was in before Cardinal Song... When the chorus came out on their self titled all those years ago with Matt singing in that raspy voice on that lo-fi recording... It was eerie. Then listening to Boxer when it came out, and hearing it with so much more power and force, that eerie did became the straight shiver inducing experience I have now.

Runaway did absolutely nothing for me the first couple times I heard it. Then all of a sudden I was like, whow....this is really awesome. Conversation 16 is absolutely brilliant too. "I was afraid I'd eat your brains." God I love him. Don't know if I've posted this here yet, but I think Runaway is an easy contender for best song of 2010. You know I think I saw that, or at least something along the lines, and I could see that argument. I would love to make it, but I believe myself to be to biased and wouldn't wholly be able to take into account everything while dissociating the personal affiliations. Regardless it always sends the same shivers through me as Cardinal Song, Soho Riots, Theory of the Crows, and John's Star. It's actually eerie in how it felt so strong even on the first listen.

Sad Songs is amazing (Cardinal Song, Fashion Coat, Lucky You are all A+). Cherry Tree has a few gems as well. In my opinion Alligator has the most range, and is the most complete. Boxer is the most accessible. I've been streaming the album on the nytimes site, and am going to try to hold off till May 11 so I can avoid the low quality files. This is one of the few bands that I have no issue paying for their music. That's a fair analysis, especially about boxer. After a week of having the album I still feel like it's a grower, but in the best ways; I do like it, but I feel like I haven't gotten to a "love it," type place, however Runaway is getting me there. I would feel bad about downloading music but I think the hundreds of dollars I spend in merch and shows makes up for it.

I wish they would have given the album a C name to follow the Alligator Boxer C------ theme you do realize that they put out 2 albums before alligator right? Two albums that still sit in the upper echelon of National music for me... Do y'all selves a favor and check out Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, if you haven't already... Cardinal Song is one of the core reasons I've loved this band for so long.

I think every festival should close with dj's into the dawn (i get the logistics of why not) or the choice of headliner or DJ. As sweet as Boize Noize are, at the end of a festival what ever makes you keep dancing and enjoying the vibe is always amazing. That's probably the best way to put it... It's neutral, lending weight to either Ween or Boize Noize depending on what your specific flavor is... Although I must confess I was starting to dig the animosity of the "suck my dick," conversation, albeit due to a drunken joke or not... We need more passion on these boards.... All the bands suck in comparison to Kenny G! G man live on, he touches everyone in the right spot... THE KENNY G SPOT!

New Pornographers are definitely on that must see list for me... Together is sounding... Well it's sounding better than Challengers did to me, so I'm stoked for that.
