The people on drugs late at night aren't the loud and obnoxious assholes. It's the college kids wearing neon that only drink all weekend that are up late screaming and blasting music. The druggies are too busy giggling in their camp chairs or wandering around on explorations. This is true. The problem with District 9 isn't drugs - in fact, there were awesome drugs at Wild Horse, and it was a virtual barter economy of drugs - the problem with District 9 is 20 year olds who don't care about being nice to everyone else, they just want to show how loud and awesome they can be. Wild Horse just has this communal atmosphere. Nobody litters, nobody pukes on your tent, nobody blasts Skrillex outside your tent at 5am. We just eat and drink and make love. This sounds kind of wonderful.

Eat, Drink, Make Love sounds like a much better book title.

Those would be two excellent science fiction books

Have you seen 'Gentlemen Broncos' before? I think you'd like it.

I'm thinking Wildhorse for the following reasons:
a) neither my fiancee or me do drugs, but we don't care if other people do b) I enjoy sleep, especially if it's sandwiched between days of non-stop music. I don't appreciate people partying loudly at all hours of the night unless I'm one of them. No chance of a 3am dubstep wake-up call is worth the additional price alone c) The shuttle. d) It just sounds more laidback and less refugee camp. I've done district 9 (at a few different fests) and while it's a blast, it takes it's toll. If I'm driving 14hrs each way and using a week of vacation, I'd like to be able to sleep when I want to sleep. e) The option to leave with my vehicle to run into town is a big bonus, as is the option to get rowdy in General. f) It would be a new experience, and I think it would be a good way to gradually introduce my better half to the multi-day festival experience.

I stayed at Wildhorse again this year and I LOVE IT. We stayed up each night and drank beer and listened to music until 2am or so, popped in some earplugs and still got a good nights sleep. Plus the showers are an added bonus. Hot water, outdoors, clean and relatively short lines. Finally, the people that run that place actually care about your well being and are unbelievably nice and accommodating.

I'm curious about these outdoor showers. Are they like these?

They can't be any worse than the Premier showers which were trailers with about 10 spaces each and little curtains, with a communal area to dress and undress. I inadvertently saw way too much penis out of the corners of my eyes. If I'm able to go next year there's pretty much no way I'm not going to Wildhorse for the first time. I'm wondering though, if my friend took his trailer and got a trailer spot, and I took my car and got a car spot, could we camp together or do they separate you?

They separate trailers and camping but since the place itself isn't too big it's not hard to visit. Our friends brought a trailer a couple years ago and we just stopped off there on the way back to our site to party every night.

The outdoor showers are not as nice as those, but the idea is the same. They have doors on them and there is no way that you can see into one when the door's closed.

The showers are kind of like that. It like a shed kinda thing with a big enclosed area with sinks, mirrors and outlets and then two sets of showers on the side of the building.

Yeah, shed is a good word. Each shower is like a big shed with no roof. Plenty of room and hooks for your stuff in there even with the water on, and plenty of room to get dressed, dry off, etc. They're always hot too, in my experience. Wait can be long after about 8am, I've waited as long as 50 minutes or so, but I usually wake up at 7, take a shower, eat breakfast, then take a nap.

After the longest 2 day work week of my life I have decided that next year I'm going to check into wild horse on the Tuesday AFTER Sasquatch and spend 2 more days drinking and talking about the magic of Sasquatch. Returning to real life cold turkey is just too hard.

Returning to real life cold turkey is just too hard. This is the best idea yet. Stay at Sasquatch until it is over and then just move over to Wildhorse for a while.

I kind of thought that Wildhorse was only open for gorge events, or scheduled reservation type events like weddings, etc. I always wondered if you could just roll in there anytime.
