I was really into Irvine Welsh books for a while. He is the author of Train Spotting. The book is even more fucked up than the movie. All of his books come with a a translator in the back so you can try to understand all the euro slang.

I read Maribou Stork Nightmares after Trainspotting in high school. That shit was crazy.

Did you guys know that MLA format now calls for you to italicize rather than underline the title of a major work such as a novel? Weird, I know.

I have no doubt that you know what you're talking about. I always thought italics looked better than underlining the title of a book anyway. I learned somethin' today!

I was also in the dark until recently. I also put two periods between my sentences for an embarrassingly long time.
Those are both relics of the typewriter era, by the way.

Oh now you are just fucking with me. I can manage to use italics instead of underlining the titles of major works, but you might as well ask me to learn how to type without my index finger if you're gonna tell me that I'm only supposed to put one space between my sentences. I just don't think I'm physically capable of doing it. I learned my MLA pretty damn thoroughly at one point, which means it's not allowed to change.

I still use two spaces but most modern technology (intarnetzzzz) replaces it with one space.
I thought that you were supposed to italicize when typing but underline when writing because how do you italicize handwriting.

Ok, I saw this mentioned in the Halloween thread, but had to bring it over here. I guess this is about a movie, but an adaptation of a book.
Jennifer Carpenter on the short list of people to play Susannah Dean? What the fuck? I guess this project won't happen anyway, but that just does not make any sense at all. HG and I were discussing who we think could play Roland, my number one would be Daniel Day Louis.
