HOLY SHIT! That is incredible. I would camp out for one of those Phillips Snowcase dealios. What did it come with? Tried any yet?

I'm doing it properly, like an advent calendar, so I've had 4 so far.
1st was Amnesiac Double IPA (in the picture). I've had it before, it's good. 2nd was a pilsner. Nothing too special, but a good pilsner. 3rd was a special edition Instigator Doppelbock, which was chocolate and barley flavours, and was way too drinkable for 8.5%. I could get loaded off that stuff. Todays was an ESB which was also great, possibly my favourite so far.
I'm already looking forward to tomorrow.

That is very cool (and I hate you) If you are bored and ever feel like updating on what you have opened up over the course of your journey I would be super interested. Also, it is nice to have more traffic on this thread!

I'm actually making a little log in my phone, rating every beer in the pack with a few notes. I can copy and past it into this thread every now and then and make everyone hate me further.

I have a Blackberry (don't judge me, it's for work and it's free) so I think I'm going to have to stick to the notepad for now.

Love the artwork on this new Sandrider album. That is pretty rad. Looks kinda like Alex Grey meets HR Geiger.

Love the artwork on this new Sandrider album. That is pretty rad. Looks kinda like Alex Grey meets HR Geiger. I didn't know who those guys were but I just google imaged them. You are right, that does look like a combo of them. The artwork was actually done by the bassist in Sandrider.

I didn't know who those guys were This made me really sad for you at first. But then I assured myself that you've seen their work, you just didn't know their names.

That is the coolest fucking album cover ever. Who is this Sandrider band anyway? Something I would dig, badchoices?

That is the coolest fucking album cover ever. Who is this Sandrider band anyway? Something I would dig, badchoices? Haha yes I do think you would like them. As a matter of fact, I sent you a download code a while back. Don't forget to download it! They are one of my favorite local bands right now and are on my favorite local record label (Good To Die Records). Two thirds of the band were in Akimbo. 2/1 they are playing @ Neumos with Helms Alee. I have been trying to drive home how amazing Helms Alee are, too. They recently signed to Sargent House and will be releasing their Sargent House debut next year. The man on the guitar is the drummer in another Seattle band called Constant Lovers. He creates some amazing amps (from what I am told) www.verellenamplifiers.com/. The drummer is also the drummer in Lozen. If you are able to go to a show in Seattle on 2/1, this is the show to go to. I am still debating if I can make it or not.

The beers thus far in my advent calendar.
Day 1, Amnesiac Double IPA, 8.5%
Big punch of hops. Citrusy, floral, herbal. Slightly sour. A tad yeasty. 8/10
Day 2, Elsinore chezq pilsner 5%
Basic pilsner. Clean, crisp, refreshing. Pilsners aren't my beer unless I want to get drunk on a hot day, but this is very good for what it is. 8/10
Day 3, Instigator doppelbock 2013 holiday edition
Toasty barley malt, bitter dark chocolate. Warming. Very nice overall. Very drinkable for 8.5%. I could get quite drunk off this stuff. 8.5+/10
Day 4: Boxcar ESB 5%
Very balanced mix of hops and barley. Quite full tasting, slight hint of burnt chocolate. Nice dry finish.
9/10
Day 5: Zeus IPA 6.5%
Very floral nose. A touch of fresh cut grass. Medium level of hops for an IPA. Quite citrusy and very floral. Short, clean, dry finish. Mild hops and flower pedals linger.
8/10
Day 6: Hammer Imperial Stout 8.3%
Almost no smell. Very dark. Heavy tasting. Coffee, burnt oats and grains. A bit of oak and bitter dark chocolate
7/10
Day 7: Hoperation Tripel Cross Belgian IPA 7.3%
Smells like a strong Belgian blonde ale. Not much hops on the smell. Wheaty, yeasty, hops at the end. A bit herbal. Tastes somewhat stale. A tad bitter on the finish. This one missed the mark for me.
6/10
Day 8: Analogue 78 Kolsch, 5%
Light, tastes like a basic lager or pilsner. Yeasty, grainy. Pretty boring. The Elisnore is much better for something light.
6/10
Day 9: Ginger Beer, 5%
Certainly lives up to its name. Smells and tastes like fresh ginger straight off a sushi plate. This stuff would be pretty good with sushi actually. Not much else to detect, a touch of grains, but it's pretty much all ginger spice. Finish is very clean. Great pallet cleanser, just like real ginger.
7/10
Day 10: Phoenix Golden Lager 5%
Grainy, slightly malty. Maybe a touch of hops. Easy drinking, inoffensive, not very complex. So, a basic lager. A nice one. Elsinore is probably a tad better, but this is better than analogue.
7/10
Day 11: Dr. Funk Dunkel 5%
A nice full tasting beer. Almost like a brown ale. Lots of malty flavour. Great balance of sweet and bitter. Touch of chocolate and brown sugar. Maybe the best beer to drink a lot of so far. Tasty enough to keep it interesting but not too much so you only want one or two.
8.5/10
Day 12: Hop Circle IPA, 6.5%
Citrusy. Bitter hops. Bitter dry hop taste stays with you for a while. Maybe too bitter for my tastes, could use some fruity flavours to balance it out.
7/10
Day 13: Trainwreck Barley Wine 2013 Edition, 10%
Wow, this is different. Old musty chocolate. Grape juice that spent too much time in the fridge. Somewhat sour. Definitely tastes old, if that's a flavour. Wet stale grains. Peaches, pears, apples, all over-ripe. Finish is fairly brief, a bit sour and yeasty.
Interesting, not something I would drink to get drunk, but a very different and challenging drink.
7.5/10
Day 14: Longboat Chocolate Porter, 5.2%
Lives up to its name. Milk chocolate, rich malty flavours. A bit of salt. Heavy tasting but a nice light finish. Crisp and delicious.
8/10
Day 15: Krypton Rye IPA, 6.5%
Great fresh herbal smell. Kinda grassy. Sorta spicy, like wasabi without the salt. Nice citrusy hop flavours. Good balanced finish. Best IPA so far.
8.5/10
Wow I sound like a douche in some of those.
