assuming drew is talking about MI4 (MI3 was the one with Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the bad guy), I saw that and war horse as well. I feel pretty much the same way about war horse that he did, it was definitely trying to be sentimental but it worked more often than not. The cinematography was wonderful and it wasn't as cheesy as I assumed it would be.
MI4 was pretty great as well. If you liked the other ones, this one is very well done. I'm glad that Brad Bird is making the transition to directing live action films, I think he'll be a great director in the years to come.
I also saw Sherlock Holmes which was alright but just completely preposterous. Moriarty was pretty underwhelming in the film and I'm much more excited to watch the new episode of the BBC's Sherlock that aired the other night.

I got an early screening pass for The Devil Inside this Thursday...I have a feeling it will suck (like most horror films that come out in January) but we shall see.

Damn if that first Spurlock Jones film wasn't a giant turd. Even if Tom Cruise is in it, I'd choose MI:3 just on general principle (although I haven't seen either film).

MI4 was a much better film all around. Sherlock was certainly a turn off your brain action movie but it wasn't very good.

Stamps and I caught MI4 this afternoon. I really enjoyed it. I think we both did. A lot less of the lovey, dovey BS they sprinkled in the 3rd one. We had a MI marathon this past week in preparation of seeing this one.
We were both a little disappointed that Luther wasn't in this movie as much. Just a quick cameo, with justification that was left to be desired. (sorry if that's spoiler territory). There was a lot more comedic relief in it. Mostly because of Simon Pegg, I think. I did appreciate it that this one didn't take itself so seriously.
Cruise may be batshit crazy, but I do love the MI franchise. Fo sho.

I will say that the gadgets in this one were really sweet, my favorite being the projector screen thingy.
I really hated the girl in it, whatever her name is. I saw her on Conan and hated her there too. Something about her face.

I saw her on Conan and hated her there too. Something about her face. Fucking nailed it, drew. Yeah, the projector moment was a lot of fun. I have a tendancy to laugh awkwardly loud during movies at the theater. This scene was no different. And I absolutely agree with you about homegirl. It's totally her mouth. She's always smiling, or something. Truthfully, she was annoying me throughout the movie--she had a great body, sure, which is the common denominator for a bond/Ethan hunt girl, but she certainly had an obnoxious face. sexually good call.

Even though this looks almost like a satire of a Wes Anderson movie, I'm still super excited.

OH MY GOD ME TOO!
...although I don't think it looks like a satire of a Wes Anderson movie. It just looks like a Wes Anderson movie. In all the good ways.

I read something today about how if you took a still anywhere from a Wes Anderson movie you could frame it and put it on your wall as art because every shot is framed so beautifully. I liked the idea. (I have no idea where I read this but it was probably somewhere stupid so if you recognize it don't call me out! )

Oh my god, that's going to be the best. It looks as campy as Life Aquatic, which is my favorite Wes Anderson movie.
