Mine's embarrassing, kind of. Have you seen trailers for that new show on HBO, Game of Thrones? It's based on a series of fantasy books by George RR Martin. It was my favorite series of books a while ago, and though my tastes have broadened dramatically (I have an MFA in poetry, and before you ask, yes it gets my dick sucked a lot) I'm still a fantasy nerd at heart.
Anyway there was a character mentioned maybe once in that series called something-of-the-rushes.

I like to tell people that I've invented a new palindrome, and when they ask what it is I tell them: "Oh shit, a cupcake you say?" They sit and scratch their heads for a minute before realizing that it is not even close to being palindromic, but to me it is funny as hell. "Two hoot owls toot who toot oot?" Anyway, my name is a couple of running jokes or something. There are some friends that called me "newj" for a while when I moved and started a new high school a few years ago because someone else mispronounced "newb" or something, I guess... that stuck around for a while and when I registered it came back to me. Ersey is my last name. |

When I first started lurking music message boards, the prevailing theme was, "I'm a badass, and you don't know shit." So I thought a bit of self-deprecating humor would be appropriate. If you can't laugh at yourself, it's hypocritical to laugh at others, right? Then I just misspelled the phrase as a joke to display my lack of knowledge when it comes to words. The English language still confuses me; I'm a numbers guy. The capitalization of ID was an homage to my formative years spent in Idaho.
I've always used variations of the same username on every board I've posted on, not wanting to mislead people. So, since we are coming clean here, most of us are/were regulars on other boards, so what do you go by over there? I'm basically the same name on the Coachella, Lollapalooza, and ACL boards.

Anyways, "Fig" has been my prevailing nickname since 8th or 9th grade due it being the first 3 letters of my last name.

My name references a song from my favorite band, Bright Eyes. It's a song about dealing with emptyness, alcohol abuse, and the fact that you just can't stop partying no matter how much you try. I specifically like the part of the song that goes: "...but then night rolls around and it all starts making sense. There is no right way or wrong way, you just have to live.
And so I do what I do, and at least I exist. What could mean more than this? What would mean more?"
