I will be right there with you for most of it, except when I duck into Neumos for The Psychic Paramount @ 7:45.

Neumos can be such a death trap during Block Party. I forgot who I saw there in 2009, but it was about 90 degrees outside and easily 100+ inside the venue, with everyone crammed in like sardines. Fucking yuck. Thank god we're looking at low 70s so far for the weekend!

I like that forecast. Luckily, The Psychic Paramount is probably the most appropriate band on the lineup for me to sweat my remaining ball off to.

Just for funsies, let's reflect on how fucking awesome the lineup was that year. Japandroids had barely released Post-Nothing and rocked the fuck out in front of about 8 people. That was a fun weekend.
SONIC YOUTH, THE JESUS LIZARD, THE GOSSIP, DEERHUNTER, BLACK LIPS, EARTH, THE THERMALS, THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART, MOONDOGGIES, SPINNERETTE, THE DUTCHESS AND THE DUKE, MIKA MIKO, THE BLAKES, SLEEPY EYES OF DEATH, GIRLS, HEY MARSEILLES, THE MALDIVES, TRUCKASAURUS, AKIMBO, PAST LIVES, FUTURE OF THE LEFT, MICACHU, STARFUCKER, FAUX PUNK, NEW FACES, HOTELS, PICA BEATS, FLEXIONS, THEY LIVE!, AUDICITY, BOW+ARROW, SOL, JAPANDROIDS

You forgot Built to Spill dood. They played in between Deerhunter, who I soooo regrettably missed, and The Jesus Lizard, who were the biggest/greatest shit-show I've ever seen.
Fuck everyone else who's ever played at Block Party compared to that Sonic Youth show, though.
FAN. TAS. TIC.

Built to Spill played that year? Are you sure? I sure as shit don't remember that. Gossip blew my fucking mind, and then the mushrooms kicked in and these asshole trees kept dripping on my buddy and me, and Sonic Youth freaked us out.

You bet your buns they did. They had a voting system set up where fans chose the set, so they ended up playing all of their most popular songs. I'm a fan of deep cuts, so even though it was a Built to Spill caliber show, I still remember it as my least favorite of the Built to Spill shows I've seen.

I wasn't there, but if I remember correctly they refused to play 'Preview' even though it got an overwhelming number of votes.

I quite like the new xx song, and I've grown to sort of despise them since their debut came out.

Melvins were awesome, but my right ear was destroyed from the shitty sound at the Hawthorne.
Like seriously, why don't they just make the bass not so loud? The venue would improve drastically if they didn't have the bass so god damn loud. It was even overpowering me when I saw fucking Atlas Sound. Fuck the Hawthorne.
