What happened with Justice's set? Also, what day are you in Edmonton Sara(h)? I have Sunday off work and will possibly be in the city. I'm only in town Friday night. Have to drive back Saturday morning.

FTP is playing Deer Lake Park here this summer, arguably after their prime but the tickets have been on sale forever. Capacity is approximately 10,000. Totally ridiculous.
Bassnectar & Ghostland Observatory - May 12 - WaMu Theater Roger Waters' The Wall - May 26th - BC Place Poliça - August 16th - Biltmore Cabaret

I would absolutely love to see a concert there sometime. That park is gorgeous.

The minute they actually book someone worth paying for I'm there.
Past bookings include Ben Harper and Relentless 7, The Tragically Hip and The Black Keys. None of which I'm remotely interested in paying $70.00 + to see.
They do have Bon Iver playing there May 25th and Florence and the Machine in July... again, not that interested. It'll probably rain May 25th.

I saw Arcade Fire there (with St. Vincent opening) in 2007, it was awesome. I also watched the White Stripes from over the fence since I was a poor student and couldnt afford tickets. There used to be a great little raised hill where you could see everything, but apparently it is no more.
I would be so very interested in Florence and the Machine if I wasn't away at the time. I can't believe she sold that place out so fast.

Foster the People playing WAMU?? Wuh duh fuck how'd they get that big..shit's cray The fact that someone is surprised Foster the People are big enough to play the WAMU is 12 times more surprising than Foster the People playing WAMU. Crawl out from under your rock dude, you've missed a lot in the last year. I would be so very interested in Florence and the Machine if I wasn't away at the time. I can't believe she sold that place out so fast. You do know what "pop" stands for, right?

Of course, but out of: Bon Iver (this year), the Black Keys (last year), Arcade Fire (2007), Foster the People (this year), Bjor.k (2007), REM (with Modest Mouse and The National, 2008) and The White Stripes (2007), Florence sold out that venue faster than all of them. Most (if not all) of those shows didn't even sell out at all. I had no idea she was that much more popular than all of those acts (at the time stated). (I think I set a record for most parentheses used in one post)

I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Florence is one of the headliners for Glastonbury in 2013. Every show they play the crowds are increasingly becoming more and more massive... and for good reason. 1 - the girl's got some pipes - and she doesn't hold back. ever. She's going at 100% the entire set. And 2 - she's also kind of insane to watch. I mean literally. She's all over the place and she often dresses like a psychedelic gypsy. Eccentric lead singers will always generate a crowd. If Annie Lennox and Stevie Nicks had a daughter - she would be Florence.

I've noticed, I think I stated somewhere on here that it was too bad I couldn't go to this because next time I get the chance to see here it will be either as a headliner at a festival or in a stadium.
I was just surprised that she's already there. The Black Keys are playing a stadium here in a few weeks with Arctic Monkeys. I think the capacity is something like 14000, and it still hasn't sold out. Florence sold out a 10000 person venue over 3 months before the show. Black Keys headlined Coachella this year and Arctic Monkeys were listed almost as high as Florence. She could probably sell more tickets than the Black Keys at this point.
I think she deserves it way more than the Black Keys, I just didn't realize she was there quite yet.

this is what, like the fourth or fifth time the Black Keys have been through there in the last two years?
Florence hits this area a lot less. This is her first time in Western Canada in....well I don't remember her ever coming through here. I have a bunch of friends headed out from Calgary for that show. It's a pretty big deal.

There is a sinister and unnatural force pushing the Black Keys to be the biggest band on earth, and it all comes off as a total farce. Florence on the other hand is just a straight up rockstar. I'm not a fan of all of her music, but she's been destined for arena-sized crowds since her first single dropped.

She was so much fun! My only regret was finding myself so far back in the crowd for her set.

Good point womp, I didn't consider that. She has been here once before (played the commodore, my friend had an extra ticket and I had to work early or something so I didn't go, which I totally regret now) but this is the first time she has been through since she became well known.
