Yep. I think will listen to them now -- their discography -- and I agree that nearly everyone has their particular setting which is ideal. I did see them at Lollapalooza, Budweiser state and the preceding night opening for The National, and I think it definitely made a difference (not to mention the first show was after having driven all day from D.C. to Chicago). Thanks for your input. PRETENTIOUS DOUCHEBAG I think this is the first post by PRETENTIOUS DOUCHEBAG that makes him sound like he's actually not a shithead. Congratulations man. Maybe that's because someone replied to him without being a dick about it for once... maybe not.

I think ticket sales for the fair's concert series are hurting in general because they've offered 1/2 price tickets for just about all of the shows now.

I think I may have confused you with comeswithasword.
Maybe because it starts with a c and swords and bats are sorta kinda similar? I'll just chalk this one up to me being stupid.

The Antlers put on one of the most powerful and moving shows I've seen since Jonsi toured for his album. So glad I bit the bullet and ended up catching it last minute. This will not be a show I will soon forget.

Let me know how Explosions is davers! They'll be here on Sunday and I cant wait. Explosions was pretty awesome. I almost ended up not seeing it because it wasnt sold out when I checked a few days ago and I was holding off buying a ticket because there was talk about work sending me away for a few days. I show up needing 2 tickets as most my other friends already bought theirs, and find its sold out. There was a line of about 15 people waiting to see if they release more, and they released about 10 so I was SOL there. Me and the other SOL people waited around for a while, asked the door girl for paper to make "need tickets" signs to try and head off the scalper, and eventually we all got tickets. Got in just as Twin Sister was starting and they were really good. Dont miss them if you can help it. Because of all the lack of preparation I was entirely sober for the show save for the 2 beers I drank, so I remember it all really well, which is a contrast to sasquatch 09 which was all a big blur of awesomeness. They added a new guy since the last time I saw them. He basically plays bass on some songs and adds reverb and looped noises for the song transitions. Not really sure if I agree with that choice as I thought they sounded great before all that stuff anyway. Bit of a lateral move, doesnt really make it much better or worse. They played my favourite song (I wont ruin it by saying what it was) in their ~90 minute set. Same as Sasquatch, they say their hellos and then the mic is not touched until the end of the show. I love how they just keep going with songs. At the end they said we were honnestly the best crowd of the tour so far, though I'm sure he says that all the time. Music and lights came on right after they left stage, so it was clear there wouldnt be an encore (from what I understand they dont usually do encores). Despite this, people kept cheering and making noise. About 5 minutes later one of them comes back out, says thanks, they thought it went pretty much perfect, so how could they make it any better? Thanks once again, said they would be back, and then leaves stage. Wow, that was just a long winded way of saying, they kicked ass.

Yeah The Antlers and Explosions in the Sky only played for 30 minutes each. So it went by really quick. Each of those 30 minutes were amazing though.

I posted this in the EDM thread as well but Pretty Lights in Eugene was a blast. Best "Electronic" show I have ever been to. His music is already groovy (only way I can really explain his style) but in a live scenario it was even way better then expected. He mixed like a champ and had a perfect flow throughout his whole set. I could definitely see him playing a late-night slot at sasquatch next year. I highly recommend seeing him live.

To swallow my sorrows of not being able to meet up with Lumpz for Hopscotch fest this weekend, Stamper and I went to our local dive venue to catch Twin Shadow last night. The band really brought it last night. They really did. Quite frankly, I was surprised. He's got a ton more energy on stage than he does on the album. Its great to know he won't be doomed to just studio-related talent. Anyway, we had a blast with the opening act, Diamond Rings. He was a ton of fun. I am not sure if y'all have heard of him or if he's been discussed yet, but he's got a ton of talent and I'm keeping my fingers that he'll get picked up for some festivals next year. Looks wise, if Vanilla Ice and Boy George had a kid, it would be this dude. (You kinda had to be there to see his parachute pants.) He's got a squeaky speaking voice, but his singing voice clearly draws inspiration from artists like Ian Curtis. He's completely solo, playing instruments by himself and engaging the audience with his...unique interpretive dancing. He's clearly new and trying to make his career work, but I think he is on the right track. We bought his CD and he was there at the merch table, willing to sign it. He was almost a shy, quiet dude. It was a complete opposite to the "character" he's got on stage. He's fun. You should like him. Because I said so. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_Rings_(musician)
