Yeah I usually end up going to shows alone nowadays. None of my friends come close to having the same taste in music as me.

I enjoyed going to a show with you, Geno. We should do that shit more often. Also sometimes there are shows that I want to go to that Stormy doesn't feel like going to.

Not really sure what shows you are talking about. In fact, I just have no idea what you are talking about. Are these shows you just assume I don't want to see?

I decided not to grab a ticket. I would have really liked to see Datsik, but I don't really have any desire to see Aoki again. Ha ha, a girl I'm dating is going though, should I tell her to look out for a glowing yellow cowboy hat? "GO SAY HI TO MY FRIEND FROM THE INTERNET" I won't be wearing any el wire tonight. Given how packed I suspect this is going to be, I figured it was more trouble than it's worth.

I go to shows by myself all the time. Same thing with movies, live theatre, opera, etc. If none of my friends want to go, I just go anyways.

I can't even comprehend how shitty the crowd will be at that Aoki+Datsik show.

I hope it's better than I think it will be. My plan is to stay until the end of Datsik's set and GTFO immediately after.

So wolfhat, what did you think of the show?
I had an absolute blast dancing my ass off! Haven't been that much of a sweaty mess in awhile.
I only caught the last few songs of the opener, Midnight Magic, but they were really fun. Definitely dug the funky horns and the lead singer had great attitude. I think I'll try to catch them next time they come around.

Also, kymess is growing up so fast, 100 posts! Quite apropos that I reached the milestone of 100 posts on an internet chat board talking about being a loner, haha. Really though, I don't understand people who think there's some stigma about going out and doing something alone, like movies, concerts, dinner etc. Right now I'm in the middle of going to the film festival which I bought a pass to so I could see upwards of forty movies in two weeks. I think even if all my friends loved movies as much as me, I'd still be hard-pressed to find someone to join for each one. It's great when a few friends join me for one here and there, but theres no way I'm going to deprive myself of something I love to do 'cause there's no one to join me. The only person I'd be hurting if I took that approach is myself, and that's what I started to clue into last year when it came to concerts.

So wolfhat, what did you think of the show? Oh man, such an awesome show! I will definitely see them again at every opportunity. I would have bought tickets to the second night but it was my girlfriend's birthday and she would not have been pleased if I bailed. I missed the opener because I was waiting on my girlfriend, actually, but I heard they were good. She hurt her back just that morning and had to go to the doctor. Because of this we grabbed seats in the 6th row on the middle and took part in the isle dance party (me more than her.) Normally I hate that The Vogue has seats everywhere but the very front (I wish they could remove them like The Paramount does in Seattle) but it really saved my lady on Friday. With out those seats so close we would have been stuck much further away, but instead had an awesome view and a seat for her to rest. It wasn't as ruckus as in the very front, but I'll be up there next time! You didn't happen to go to their DJ set afterward at the Waldorf did you?

I really wanted to go the DJ set but I had to be up and out at 8am the next day so I did the responsible adult thing and went home. I think I should've gone anyway, not like I got much extra sleep after how hyped up I was from such a great show. I like that they keep most of the seats (they removed about 4 of the front rows to make a bigger area) 'cause it somehow makes it easier to get right up front. And yeah, it got pretty rowdy up there! I really hope they're still doing the festival circuit next year and make it to Sasquatch or Coachella again.
