God if we have Foo AND Pearl Jam the asshole contingent is going to be off the charts. Man, I'm sure you could be right about Foo but in my experience Pearl Jam fans are a pretty classy bunch, unless you mind aging flannel-cad dads who sip Coors and cry to Yellow Ledbetter from the upper lawn. While we're on the subject, I still have this theory that the Festival could go the full on NW route and fill out the headlining slots with PJ, Soundgarden (which, for the record, NO THANKS, but I can't deny that they're a contender), and either MM or Death Cab on Monday. I don't think it's the most likely thing by any means, mostly because the festival seems to be skewing more and more diverse at the top every year and that block all fit squarely into the same genre, but if there was ever a year it might happen...

That would be the most disappointing list of headliners I could conceive of. Worse than '09, which was fucking awful. I'd take Soundgarden over Pearl Jam ANY day, but that's because I can't distinguish Pearl Jam from Seven Mary Three (nor do I care to try to do so).
Also: ok, you're a Pearl Jam fan, I get that, but come on dude PJ fans are shitsticks. I fucking love Primus but I'll tell you without batting an eye that Primus fans are some of the meanest, most unpleasant people on the planet. You should be able to do the same, those people aren't your friends.

Also your username is fucking vile and distasteful.
I'm not going to do the Horned Gramma thing and try to get you all riled up and talk mad eloquent shit about you, I'm just going to ask you to change it.
Please change your username.

www.nme.com/news/the-strokes/54436 <------CLICK HERE ITS A LINK Saying the strokes will be there is a huge assumption but record release lines up. It's honest speculation. Foo Fighters + The Strokes = ABOVE AVERAGE HEADLINERS. I am not completely sold on the fact that the strokes are going to be there but they would make sense for a saturday headliner ( kol, MMJ- not overly big but with a strong following) They only thing is that with all the suggestions that we are getting on bands this is how they headliners would look like : Friday-Foo Fighters sat - Soundgarden sun - pearl jam monday - the strokes with Cake subheadlining. While that would be great if it was 1999, this is 2010.

we would be incredibly lucky to get 1 of those headliners, no way in hell we get all three (more so for soundgarden and pearl jam than strokes)

Agreed with cbatson, Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/Foo Fighters/Strokes, would make Lollapalooza and Coachella smile. If that happened, you and I would be singing Sesame Street duets as subheadliners.

God if we have Foo AND Pearl Jam the asshole contingent is going to be off the charts. Very good point. I was rooting for Pearl Jam a couple months ago. I still stand by my claim they are outstanding live. I never thought Pearl Jam + Foo Fighters would make for a nearly unlivable campground. It would.

So what it all boils down to is that I expect to see the band in Washington sometime this year, and Sasquatch would make as much sense as a solo show. On top of that, they'd likely be a unique 2011 festival headliner (unlike, say, the extremely likely Arcade Fire and possibly Foo Fighters.) Aside from me agreeing with your point about PJ, i must point out that The Foo Fighters haven't played a NW festival (that being Deck The Hall Ball) or the gorge since around 1999-2000. They've been glued to stadiums like the shitty Key Arena nearly everytime they've come to Wa in the past decade. Usually Europe and Austrailia were fortunate to have them at festivals. I think that alone warrants a really unique treat at Sasquatch... Especially for a FF fanboy.

Wow, some legitimately good points being made back and forth in here. First I think "yay Pearl Jam" and then HG has me flipped around.
I saw Pearl Jam a few weeks ago at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit. I stood near a couple of, uh, committed PJ fans, who told me how much they love PJ, "talked" to "EDDIE!", told me how many times they've seen PJ, and sang along. To be perfectly honest, they weren't that bad: They were friendly, really decidedly nice to me and my friend, and were just a little annoying. But, different circumstances -- I imagine if this had taken place at Sasquatch, they would have gladly spilled beer on me as they shoved their way past, yelling "Don't get mad, bro!"
Holy fuck I think I might actually kill someone at Sasquatch this year

God if we have Foo AND Pearl Jam the asshole contingent is going to be off the charts. You act as though they've invited a bunch of meatheads into camp. This wouldn't be anywhere near ozzfest or pain in the grass. You'll get your precious indie bands.

And I get what you're saying about crowds, and understand that being a fan can kind of blind you when it comes to shitty behavior from your neighbors, but I've been in my fair share of horrible crowds and can't really find anything negative to say about Pearl Jam's. But it's entirely possible that I've just been very lucky, and I'm sure you have reasons just as valid as mine. At this point I've come to accept that assholes can pop up anywhere, and I'm not about to waste time worrying about it. I actually think it's more about the undercard anyway; if they could sell out last year than people clearly aren't banking on big name acts when it comes to paying for a weekend pass. And I agree with you about my theorized NW lineup being pretty shitty and devoid of variation, just trying to put some ideas out there. I think we can all agree, especially after last year, that Sasquatch is nothing if not unpredictable when it comes to headliners. For the record, my real guess for the headliners is something like Arcade Fire/Flaming Lips/Phoenix, but it changes all the time. It's really killing me how little we know.

And the massive amount of money is all of what festival organizers would care about, so they would be pretty happy. ICP for Sasquatch '11
Though to be honest, I actually think Juggalos would be friendly based on the infomercials for Gathering of the Juggalos. They emphasis fellowship a lot.

www.wakarusa.com/2011/lineup.aspWakarusa's lineup, happening the weekend after Sasquatch (in arkansas). Not sure if it makes any of them less or more likely for Saquatch. Most of them are jam bands gearing up for bonaroo, but there are a few that would fit here: Thievery Corporation, Mumford & Sons, Ghostland Observatory, Modeselektor, Lucero, etc. I bet this counts Bassnectar out as I can't see him doing Summer Camp, then to the PNW, then back out east. And I'd really hope Ben Harper won't be back, but it is the 10th anniversary...

No offense, but you bring up ICP playing sasquatch and I get hammered on for mentioning hollywood undead and Shwayze out of sarcasm? Wow. I hate you too.

I'm a little fucking pissed to see Bassnectar and Skrillex both doing festival sets at other festivals around the time of Sasquatch. Unless of course they play at Sasquatch.

Shouldn't you be out with friends doing crazy non-cpu weekend related amazingness? I mean, I am a little let down here. I thought to myself, "hey it's the weekend, I bet mhanch83 is just CRUSHING it out there in the world beyond keyboards and and high resolution LCD". You better be typing this between one handed keg stands or something, I totally had such high hopes for you and all your friends!!!

Modeselektor would the SHIT at Sasquatch. They'd be on my top five wishlist. I don't hold out much hope, of course. But anyway, I don't think an Arkansas date a week later rules out many, if any of those acts. Still stateside, and a week is a long time to travel.
