I recently saw someone claiming to know the headliners (who was obviously wrong) on another web site, but they did mention Tom Petty. I am 99% positive no one has mentioned this possibility, and since this is the headliners thread, it seems like a rumor that might hold water. Tom Petty did headline the only Pemberton, another LiveNation production. I don't recall anyone ever listing Tom Petty as a possibility on this board, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ever did headline Sasquatch. Yeah, I saw that too. It said Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Arcade Fire as the headliners as mentioned by PDX radio. I would be happy with Tom Petty. I saw him at Bonnaroo. He has so many great songs, it was like a 2.5 hour greatest hits show with everyone singing along. On the other hand, Bob Dylan, even though he is a legend, his live show is uninspiring.

30 dollars x 30000 people=$600000 sorry, I know its off topic but I couldn't resist. 30x30,000=900,000

While Tom Petty would be flat out amazing as a headliner, as someone else pointed out, he's the type of act that moreso than even Pearl Jam doesn't need to be part of a festival, and did fantastic at the Gorge last time he was through. Plus, if they scored both Dylan and Petty, they wouldn't try to presell the festival with Pavement, I don't think. Nothing against them (not really my think, but whatever) but if you're trying to sell tickets and leak a bit, you leak big, if that makes sense.

Dylan's a good theory. I don't see Petty fitting in all that well as a headliner, but Sasquatch has caught me off guard before.
Nice to see some new names mentioned here.

The point of the pre-sale with one headliner is pretty much to attract those who just want to go and love it enough to just trust it. If you leak your big headliners it defeats the purpose of an unveiling date. Pavement was thought to be possible already and it's a decent one to just give away. Acts like Dylan or Petty need to be that big reveal.

Is Tom Petty even touring? it would be expensive to get him to do a one off show.Don't get me wrong, he would be awesome but he played the superbowl, I am thinking he is in super headliner Category as well. I could see Dylan headlining, he finishes his tour in japan at the end of March.
What about Elvis Costello? His tour ends on May 29 In Dallas, i think he would be considred a headliner if he played with the imposters( which he does a couple of Dates with on his tour.) I just think it is Funny, he does not have dates for Vancouver, yet he lives there, and nothing is scheduled for the PNW.

He played solo at Bumbershoot a few years back and really surprised me with his stage presence. I wasn't a huge fan before hand but I've grown to very much like him. I doubt it'll come to fruition but he'd fill the REM, Cure, 80s-alternative throwback quota. On petty... unless they producers go in a shockingly different direction I can't see him playing (as awesome as it would be). Could you imagine the number of classic rock onlys showing up for Petty and annoyed with all of these new-fangled unknown bands? I wish the NW had it's own Bonnaroo but there's a reason that show's in Tennessee... we just don't have the culture to support such a show. The indie extravaganza is more up our scene w/ Bumbershoot filling in for the smaller-scale mixed genre/arts festival w/ the pop acts.

If Elvis Costello was the mainstage headliner, the crowd will be smaller than Ben Harper last year, and that was a ridiculously small crowd. They'd better have an expanded dance tent, and a large draw playing if that were to happen. I'm an Elvis Costello fan, but I would be at the dance tent.

It didn't hurt that his opener was Erikah Badu (however you spell it) and that was just not anything people were into. I would have left the mainstage after Silversun Pickups, and probably just gone home early lol

Really, knowid, and there is going to be a huge crowd for Pavement? As for headliners I think Elvis Costello and the imposters are just as big as Pavement.

elvis costello wouldn't get any higher than a sub-sub-headliner unless the lineup for one of the days was really unusually weak. i could be totally underestimating pavement's popularity, but i can't see there being any more than a few thousand people watching them, especially if they close out the festival or there's another halfway decent act going on at the same time.

That is an interesting idea. If Pavement is NOT headlining, which people seem to think is possible, who would they be paired with? Definitely an indie feeling band, I think, suggestions?
As bizarre as it sounds, could anyone see Pavement subheadlining Soundgarden?

I thought it was made very clear that Pavement is headlining for sure. I could see them getting pooped down if Soundgarden was booked after the initial announcement though..

Maybe you didn't seem to notice that #1) EiTS already played last year (which more people were watching than Ben Harper), and #2) They are not even remotely on tour. . . the only show that they have scheduled is the ATP show in September. Niiiice first post, bro.
