Desktop is showing May 25-27 for me LMBO. Maybe he plays his set on Saturday and makes guest appearances with Bon Iver and Choir Choir Choir on Friday.

The only logical conclusion is that David Byrne is cancelling the Portland show and playing all three nights of Sasquatch.

Just speaking from my experience going with my dad who always wants to see the late night but in the past 5 years hasn't made it once I can understand this. Not sure how old your dad is but I'm 41 and barely make the late night sets. Usually in back at camp resting up and drinking beer.

I self identity as an old and can confirm that the late night sets can be a challenge.

DBs website still says Friday, and it doesn’t look like a Friday default since it has him on Saturday for other 3 day festivals. When I looked at it this morning it said "May 25-27th" with no specific date set. And Tyler is definitely committed other places on Saturday and Sunday. So unless they both play the same day, Byrne has to be Saturday. I could see a very small possibility of Byrne closing the Bigfoot just for the sake of his show requiring full darkness, but it would be the first time I know of when somebody that highly billed played the Bigfoot. As far as Sasquatch demographics go, I'd say that Vampire Weekend is more popular than David Byrne, and that didn't stop Sasquatch from stupidly placing them on the Bigfoot in 2013.

I self identity as an old and can confirm that the late night sets can be a challenge. I have been to the last nine Sasquatches, and I have never made it inside the festival all the way until 1:30am. Not even when Spoon had the late night Bigfoot slot. (Sidenote: I wonder if they could play that slot again this year.) I intended to stay in until 1:30 for the Cure in 2016, but, most people suck, and the show ended by 12:45.

There have only been a couple times that I have actually stayed in through the whole late night set (Primus, Chet Faker, Tycho, Rufus du Sol, and I think that's it). I will usually watch a few minutes after the headliner, but they have to be doing something pretty incredible to hold my attention at that point in the night or I need to be properly chemically enhanced.

Going off the earlier discussion, I'm a robust youngin' and Bigfoot late nights are only a stop if it's a must see for me. The exhaustion and massive passive crowd is usually a turn off. That being said, the delirium of such a late set has been the catalyst for some of the most magical live music experiences I've had. I'm excited to see who gets picked this year, it feels like every other name off the bill would fit.

I'm sitting in a room with a bunch of auditors and I'm bored and feeling snarky. Also working my way to my 500th post and mutating from howling to snarling. More crap to follow.

So the late nights have a huge and disengaged crowds? Just seems counter intuitive. Not a lot of people go to this festival and everywhere else I've been people go harder at the later sets.

I disagree with the disengaged/passive description. Yes, there have been late night sets where I am exhausted and have just stopped by the late night set or skipped it completely, and I have also witnessed a few sets where the band/artist had a hard time getting the crowd to full speed. However, some of my favorite, most high energy Sasquatch sets have been late night, including Spoon, Ratatat, Hot Chip, and Cut Copy. I don't even like deadmau5 (at all) and that crowd was giant and definitely engaged. See below video for an example; the crowd is the antithesis of passive. youtu.be/LwKgbLSRVtI

In my experience, the Bigfoot stage is close to the exit of the festival grounds and when it's hosting the last set of the night you have a huge crowd of people rubber necking on their way back to the campgrounds. Don't get me wrong, near the stage the crowd is high energy but you have to get past a good mile of "oh I guess I'll see this."
