Dan Deacon and Animal Collective have a strange break in their tour in October. Also, Crystal Castles is touring with Depeche Mode so count them in. I like where this is headed.

On the Guided by Voices message board where some inside info gets posted someone close to the band let it slip that they're playing a festival this fall. It could be this one. That's my theory anyway. Of all the major festivals that haven't already announced their lineups, this is about the only one that they didn't hit during their 2011 or 2012 tours.

Tonight is the night! I am super pumped but waiting until October is going to be tough because I think this lineup is going to be up there with Sasquatch 2010. So far the bands confirmed or heavily rumored are: The Cure, Depeche Mode, Muse, D’Angelo, Atoms for Peace, Neko Case, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Portugal. the Man, Toro y Moi, Local Natives, Thao With The Get Down Stay Down, The Joy Formidable, Kaskade, Smith Westerns, Grouplove, Junip, Bear Mountain, Shovels & Rope, True Believers, Haim, Fun., Shuggie Otis, My Jerusalem, Vintage Trouble, Not In The Face. I also found out by accident today that Cloud Cult is highly likely! I am on their mailing list and they sent out an email which stated that they would be concluding their 2013 tour for their new album on the west coast on May 12th. I replied to the email with "You aren't coming to Texas?? I was so excited to hear the new album live!" I sent the email with no intention of getting a reply but I was pleasantly surprised when there was a reply in my inbox just a short time later that read: "We will be headed your way in October. Stay tuned" I also discovered another confirmation just now while scouring tour pages: www.thieverycorporation.com/tours/These are my other guesses based on tour dates, wishes, and pure rampant speculation: The National, MGMT, Matt and Kim, Boys Noize, Bassnectar (you can pretty much add him to any festival lineup these days and there is a 99% chance you will be correct), Crystal Castles, Kendrick Lamar. Like Wonk said before, we have a large triple hotel room in downtown Austin booked for weekend 2 so if this ends up being a lineup that somebody here just can't miss (it's already super solid) you should come party in Texas with Wonk, my hot wife, and myself; Stamper and Catherine Sun Chips will also be at the fest that weekend. We definitely have room for one more person and can probably accommodate two more if someone doesn't mind sleeping with Wonk on the floor or couch if there is one.

If I win the lottery or come into an inheritance or maybe just quit my job and am on unemployment by then, you can count me in. That is a fantastic [potential] line up!
But if someone else who actually has money beats me to claiming a spot on the floor, I won't hold it against you, Switch.

Yeah, I realize that it is a long shot that anyone will be able to make the trip but I thought I would at least make the offer. It makes the decision a little easier knowing that you don't have to try to find a place to stay in a city that is surely booked solid by now. And the hotel room is in downtown! Walking distance to the party district and the festival! I miss partying with you people!

Bassnectar was there last year so you can probably count him out. Stoked to hear about Thievery Corporation, haven't had a chance to see them yet.
And the Cure officially confirmed through their FB page.
Edit: Thievery's site lists last year's ACL booking

You might be right but I will never count Bassnectar out of any festival regardless of past lineups.
If you look at his tour page he has dates all the way up to the Voodoo fest in November in Louisiana and the bottom of the page says "more festival dates to be added". I know there are a million music festivals (JamBase has 326 listings) but ACL is one of the last major festivals to be announced besides Fun Fun Fun Fest, which is also in Austin. I know he was there last year but this guy seems to be a festival staple these days. In fact I am seeing him at the Free Press Summer Fest next month! Haha.
And I am an idiot because that Thievery Corporation date was from their tour date archive. They were there last year. Derp.

Yeah just noticed that about Thievery Corporation. Bassnectar does have that mainstream appeal for an electronic artist that works for ACL, just hope they don't get lazy and book Pretty lights who is pretty much at every festival as well. I like Pretty Lights, just seen him plenty already.

Switch, I hope you didn't read what I wrote as sarcastic 'cause it totally isn't! I would be there in a second if I had the money. I'm just super bummed that I don't, and that I'll have no vacation time left by then. (Though the quitting option and using unemployment to fund a trip isn't too far-fetched of a plan)
