EDIT: For those coming on I-90 and interested in dry ice, the Fred Meyer's on Water St. in Ellensburg has dry ice. Fred Meyer's is the closest "super store" to the Gorge along I-90.

Freddy's is good if you need to buy a toaster. Super One on Canyon Rd (at the end of fast food lane) is the closest off the freeway to get dry ice. They also have an excellent meat department as well as a superb deli. Moreover, the only liquor store in eburg is located across the street to the north. Fuck CWU (movie quote: the world needs ditch diggers too).

It has always been $3 at the general store in the campgrounds, not $5.

And Drew is totally lying about free ice at Wildhorse. Unless they gave it to him because he is a giant of a man.

Dry ice has frightened me since I was a child. I went to a summer camp when I was 8 and a scientist came with some for a show and tell type thing. He basically said that if you touch if your hand immediately falls off.
THANKS CAMP THUNDERBIRD!

Like my hand is going to shatter like a banana! Bananas are known for their propensity to shatter.

How much dry ice do you guys recommend buying for one large cooler?

I bought like 3 8 lb. blocks fro Coachella. They have a guide at the super market to tell you how long it will last depending on the weight of the ice.

One block of ice suited our medium sized cooler for about 3 days. It was all gone by the last day, so I would recommend two blocks for a large cooler.

Thanks guys, I've always wanted to do this for Coachella but never actually done it and just bought ice throughout the festival, but considering this festival as well as the drive are much longer, I think I'll give the dry ice a shot.

Dry ice is a really good suggestion. I might have to try that as well.
