Overall, Paradiso looks like a giant piece of shit with some gold flakes in it. Like if a piece of shit drank a bottle of Gold Slick Vodka. However, any weekend at the Gorge is fucking awesome, so there's that.

I am pretty impressed with the lineup this year. There are several artists on the lineup I haven't seen before that I would like to see. They managed to get something for everybody. Still lacking the tech, but I can let that go since they have like 5+ times more trance and DnB this year. This is a quick list I came up with of my must see acts on this lineup.
Adam F Andy C Chris Lake Christopher Lawrence Destructo Donald Glaude Eric Prydz Headhunterz Infected Mushroom presents Fungusamongus Jaytech Markus Schulz Michael Woods Myon & Shane 54 Noisia Porter Robinson The Crystal Method (live) tyDi

They played live when they were at Identity Festival at the Gorge, but I didn't see them. Can't get in to that music at all. I don't recall seeing these guys listed as playing live anywhere for a long time. The last show they did in Missoula they didn't even bring their own turntables. The promoters had to supply them. If they are playing live they should have synths and other instruments. This is what The Crystal Method live rig should look like. DJ Set.

Ah you're right Cysquatch. I guess it goes to show that since I didn't see them, I probably don't know how they performed!

Jacques Lu Cont is a new name to me. I like what I have heard so far. He has an album release coming up. I'm posting the album sampler for his new album and an essential mix he did last summer.

The Crystal Method just canceled because their drummer had complications from brain surgery...
If there's ever been a good excuse to cancel a tour, that's it.

That's a big act and a big draw, I wonder what their contingency plan is..

Well that definitely helps my decision to opt out this year.

Yeah, that is a bummer. I've wanted to see Crystal Method live since the 90's. There's still plenty for me to be excited about. Hopefully if they are replaced, it will be somebody on par with the Crystal Method, and not some sub-par pop house or trap dj. I'd say there is a good chance they end up at another USC show soon. Maybe Freaknight.

Getting stoked for the Gorge next weekend. Listening to some EDC and other recent set streams. These will pretty much fill my now playing list for the next week.

Holy shit, I got an email saying I won VIP tix to Paradiso. So, now I may have 2 extra GA tix and a camping pass. Any body want some cheap tickets? Only bad thing is the VIP tix are probably will call, and I won't let my GA tix go until I am guaranteed entry.

Wow, congrats Cysquatch! I don't have any money otherwise I'd be willing to buy your regular passes at a reasonable price. When I won the tickets for Sasquatch it made my whole experience immeasurably better (even though I only got $250 since I gave one away and sold the other for cheap), I hope you have the same results.

Overall this festival was a positive experience for me, and I thought the crowd was fairly chilled out. The vibe was decent. There were people of all ages. I never really reached the point where I was super annoyed by anybody, except one dude that looked super tweaked and threw a drink by the honey buckets. I can get annoyed by stupid people pretty easy too.
Like last year the sound and the stage production was pretty tight. I think unless you don't like electronic music, you could have found a stage to be at at any given time.
I did get around security pretty easy, but was going through the VIP line. It looked like the regular line was going a lot slower with bags getting checked.
It was hot as fuck, and a lot of us didn't have a transition period going into that kind of heat. It was a heat wave. USC did tell people it is going to hot and to drink water and there will be water available. They actually did a decent job of that. This was an 18+ show and with everybody being adults nobody should have had to have been told to be careful what kind of substances you ingest. It sounds like whatever was going around was pretty bad stuff. That on top of the heat definitely had an impact. It is sad the negative press that is being generated, because I thought it was a great time.

It blows my mind how much better the sound is at Paradiso compared to any other show I've been to at the Gorge. Especially the "Digital Oasis" stage which is the "Bigfoot" stage at Sasquatch. Step your game up Sasquatch!
Gramatik was my favorite act by a mile. His funky tunes, awesome mixing, and live guitar all added to the funkiest dance party of the weekend. I was also really blown away by Markus Schultz, Eric Prydz, and Savoy. Mainly because those artists actually played original music and not the regurgitated mainstream EDM a lot of the other artists were playing over the weekend(I'm looking at you, Kaskade). Overall it was a blast but I think a lot of that had to do with all of my friends who I went with. I think I'll be going to Electric Forest or Shambhala instead of Paradiso next year. The acts/crowds at those festivals are way more up my alley. Paradiso has just been convenient the last two years because it's relatively cheap and close.
