She doesn't have to anything but look pretty and sing (yet she plays the tambourine!). Broken Social Scene doesn't exist without a female singer. Then they are just "Kevin Drew Presents," or something. When she leaves the band, they will replace her with another up-and-coming lady.
And yes, I said "look pretty," even though I know Friendly won't like it (based on comments made a couple months ago that I was meaning to reply to). I don't think saying someone is attractive is insulting, or takes away from their talents. I've seen attractive women perform awful music too. Her attraction doesn't make her a great musician, but it's definitely a bonus.
And saying "she's attractive" isn't a male chauvinistic non-PC point of view. How many women out there like Brad Pitt because of his acting skills?

Now, if you want to flirt with the boundary of taste, we can start a thread in which we assign Pitchfork-like numerical evaluations to female musicians -- one for talent, one for looks -- and then try to figure out who, truly, is the best female musician. But that would be lame.
