Also I'm very shocked to have run across someone who recognized that site... This is the first time that has happened.

Nah, I've never been to a festival but I am thinking about it sometime. I've known about this festival for awhile and sort of salivated over the lineups but never had the courage to go. But next year I think is the year I'll go. The courage? I don't understand what you mean.

I have to plan things before I do them sometimes. So I hope 11 months before something happens is enough time!

I was looking for some kind of e-mail alert thing so I can know when line-ups are announced or tickets go on sale, which I never found. I found this board, though, which looks kind of appealing.

Stick around, you seem like a cool dude. I'm hoping to see Neil in November as well, if I can find some extra cash.

Sorry local Portlanders, but I am officially done with Ground Kontrol. I left screaming at the staff last night. I know they don't care because they make eight an hour, but you're not allowed to tell your customers to fuck off without them returning the favor.

The staff at GK is the biggest collection of assholes in town. The only time to go there is in the middle of the day on a weekday.

They take themselves really seriously because it is really hard to check IDs and microwave hot dogs. What did you do to raise their ire?

Yeah, I'm pretty damn curious about what would piss wonk off enough to cause him to raise his voice in public, but it doesn't surprise me in the least that it was the fuckheads and Ground Kontrol that made it happen.

First, a minor annoyance, I didn't have cash on me, so I had to use the ATM to pay the cover. The woman at the door had already checked our IDs, so I went back to give her our cover. About ten people showed up at about the same time. Instead of taking my money and giving us stamps, she serviced the ten people who showed up after us. No big deal, but it was strange she chose to ignore us until the line was empty, even though she already checked our IDs.
Then we went and sat at the bar. At that point, there were about ten people in line waiting for drinks (those who just showed up after us). I understood the bartender would probably serve ten or so people in line before serving us, no big deal. I wasn't trying to cut in line. I wasn't interested in playing video games, so the bar was my destination. I was even prepared to tell the bartender we would wait if he offered to serve us too quickly.
So he serves about ten people, then he serves another ten, and another ten, and I start getting annoyed. Do they not serve people who sit at the bar? Why are there bar stools then? Why isn't there a sign saying, "we don't serve people at the bar?" Why is the bartender blatantly ignoring us when we are sitting right in front of him?
After 10-15 minutes of waiting, a woman in our group finally gets up and goes to the back of the line figuring that is the only way we'll be getting served. A staff member quickly grabs her stool and takes it away. Strange, I guess she'll be standing the rest of the night. Then, another staff member approaches us and says they need to take our stools so there will be more room for people to walk around. At that point I pretty much lost it, told him if we weren't going to get served at the bar, and if we weren't even allowed to sit at the bar, why there wasn't a sign stating this, or why weren't we told this when we first sat down? Hell, "hey fuckhead, go to the back of the line" would have been better than being ignored for 15 minutes. After giving him a piece of my mind, I decided to tell the ID checker what I thought of the establishment on my way out.
And to think I was prepared to give the bartender a 40% tip just because I felt sorry for him watching him consistantely get tipped next to nothing. Not a lot of high rollers frequenting Ground Kontrol.
