Why Pea? Because his last EP was essentially him and a piano and the kids didn't like it?

Man, I would scream like a little girl if he went to either Sasquatch!, Coachella, or Electric Daisy. Seeings how I am trying to visit all three this year.

He was really great live. His cover of Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" was fantastic.

Never listened to James Blake, just want to say that Colin Meloy's cover of "A Case of You" at the Moore in Seattle like four years ago was one of the coolest things ever.
Also is it just me or was this year kind of... lame?

I would have agreed with you if the year ended in late July. I thought there was an excellent wave of albums in the third quarter that totally saved 2011.

Yikes...yeah, different strokes for different folks I guess! I personally agree with approx. 30% of it though. There is definitely some stuff missing here.

I guess I'm the only one who liked that list. Can't say I'm too surprised. Even though it doesn't match up with my list that closely, the stuff they included is all stuff I liked a lot (Wye Oak, Frank Ocean, Wilco, Decemberists, Iceage, Wild Flag)

This thread got me thinking, and now I'm curious, so I'm going to look up every Top Album of the Year for the last decade from cbats' favorite website. Even if they all turn out to be good choices, I'm going to post the results:
2010: Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2009: Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion 2008: Fleet Foxes - Sun Giant EP/Fleet Foxes 2007: Panda Bear - Person Pitch 2006: The Knife - Silent Shout 2005: Sufjan Stevens - Illinois 2004: The Arcade Fire - Funeral 2003: The Rapture - Echoes 2002: Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights 2001: Microphones - The Glow, Pt. 2 2000: Radiohead - Kid A

I enjoy Panda Bear and all but I'll never accept it as the best album of 2007.

2001: Microphones - The Glow, Pt. 2 Such utter bullshit. The day they named The Glow, Pt. 2 album of the year was the day I stopped trusting Poochfuck for anything.

The microphones might have been the band that got me to start reading my undergrad philosophy papers (nice ). Either them or the decemberist's really. Both those artists were on Olympia labels I was obsessed with when I was 13 or 14 and I searched out all the reviews I could find. Needless to say, I fucking love that album. I probably prefer It was hot, we stayed in the water though. The only thing on that list that I find egregious is the selection of Echoes. Even though I think that pick is really lame, the album turned out to be incredibly influential so maybe they were right in picking it

I just skimmed the 2007 list because I sort of agree with Pea (that album was not the best of 2007) and I sort of disagree with Pea (that album is shitty). Some good shit from that year.

I just listened to that Wye Oak album a couple more times to see what I was missing. It's good - Holy Holy is an awesome track - but it's like 3.5/5 stars at most on the drew scale.
