Gah I got called in to work this morning. If I would have stayed to drink one more beer I wouldn't have been able to pick up this shift. It's a good thing I like money.
Plus side to this means that I am now going to buy a new BBQ and a rib night will in the works.

Hey does anyone buy pay as you go phones and calling cards when they go across the boarder. Is it cheaper? I Don't use my phone a lot but my phone bill is usually $60+ each year I go to Sasquatch.

Pay as you go can be cheaper. I have a pay as you go Verizon phone, that I use when I head south. Phone cost $25 including $10 of "starter" credit. They have different plans, the one I do is $2 / day for voice (unlimited, including long distance in Canada / US, and only on days you make or receive a call) and $0.02 per text (sent or received). Compared to roaming on Telus this was a no-brainer for me, but your mileage may vary. I've had the phone for about 16 months, and travelled in the USA for 45+ days in that timeframe, for a total cost of under $100. Obvious downside, you'll have a US phone number that nobody will know. Other obvious downside, $15 gets you a... $15 phone. It makes calls and texts, but don't expect any more.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will hit up Walmart for a pay as you go. 4 more days until the drive!!

One other thing I forgot to mention re: pay as you go, you usually have to add money periodically or you will lose your remaining balance and your phone number. Also, there's no easy way to add money from this side of the border in most cases. I buy prepaid cards when I'm in the USA, then activate them periodically (which you can do on the internet) to keep my number active.
So either you treat it as truly disposable and walk away from a small balance, then re-activate, or you need to travel to the USA often enough to make it worth your while.

Do people actually use kijiji? Is it a thing now? It's always seemed like such a wasteland the couple times I went on it, but that was probably a year ago or more.

I've bought and sold tons of shit on Kijiji. I watched all of True Blood for free by buying used sets then selling them for the same price after. Genius.

Last year, my Bestie and me had our booze and gas for Sasquatch paid for by selling furniture we didn't need.

I found a Sled Island pass for 100 dollars and the seller will only be in Calgary Monday and Tuesday for meetings. If one of you can meet up with him for me let me know! I'll spend the money I save on drinks for you! Please let me know ASAP, I think he has a few more people interested!
