jezebel.com/5925186/how-to-make-a-rape-jokeStormy posted this on Facebutt today; I know it is exceedingly old news, Daver, but way on back when we were having that hugely overblown conversation about sexist jokes and why it is relatively appropriate for, like, South Park to do it and not so appropriate for us average joes to do it this would have summed up the points that we were all trying to make perfectly. Not to drag that shit out into the light again; I am certainly not trying to re-ignite that whole clusterfuck. But it is stated very well in this article. I saw that and considered commenting but I'm already hesitant enough to do it on a somewhat annoymous message board. Its a great article and I agree with pretty much all of it. The part about Louie CK's joke being ok was pretty dumb though. She basically says that Louie can do whatever he wants because he's Louie fucking CK. That is bullshit. Just because he's awesome doesn't mean he gets away with anything. His joke is ok because the part in the beginning about raping Hitler and then saying how much this would negativly affect his life (confidence, ambition...) Which shows he doesn't take rape lightly. I might go on but I'm on my phone, and yeah, can of worms. For the record, I never said over the top rape jokes were funny, just sexist and racist humour as long as its done well. Rape is generally a different ball game.

As someone who's been falsely accused of rape, I cringe every single time I hear the word. Fuck all that shit.

That article puts all my thoughts to words (that makes sense right, I'm kinda drunk). Thanks for that.

People who make rape jokes on this forum generally don't get to stick around long enough to defend their points of view. I certainly didn't mean to imply that. If I recall, that whole debate was conducted calmly and respectfully. Although, my version of 'calm and respectful' may vary from the standard. Or I may just be mis-remembering entirely. Either way, you were above reproach.

As far as the internet goes I think it was pretty reasonable. There was some use of caps lock, but what's a good debate without yelling?

Symptoms of a sick society. I feel bad for the perpetrator; the level of social disintegration required for this to happen is immense. A fucking neuroscience student at that.

www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/17/carli-richards-aurora-megadeth-dave-mustaine-obama_n_1799040.htmlI can't say I expect much from the lead singer of Megadeth but what a truly terrible statement to put out into the world. Richards' comments came in the wake of a statement Mustaine made at a recent show in Singapore.
"Back in my country, my president is trying to pass a gun ban so he's staging all of these murders," Mustaine told the crowd. "The 'Fast and Furious' thing down at the border. And Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there. And now, the beautiful people at the Sikh temple."
Mustaine continued, "I don't know where I'm going to live if America keeps going the way it's going because it looks like it's turning into Nazi America."

Laughing out loud?!?! The horror!
Didn't something like this happen with the Teletubbies a while back because people thought the purple one was gay?
