so me and my girlfriend went to bonnaroo this year and it was awful, too hot, too dusty, lines where hours long for everything. i can handle all that, but on top it was so corporate i wanted to puke, everything was set up to get that extra dollar from you. we had to camp over 1.5 miles away while people who arrived after us where right next to the venue. taxi's back and forth from the venue where 5$ a pop, the only thing i enjoyed was the music. i found out about sasquatch after visiting seattle on my spring break this year, and me and girl fell in love with the PNW area. We live in little rock, Arkanasas, but if we start planning now, we have the means to make it up there in 2012. Will it be work the amount of money i will spend? Modest Mouse is my fave band of all time, do they every have the same band two years in a row? thanks in advance for any advice.

Modest mouse will definitely not be there next year, but I still expect the lineup to be better than this year's. Look at the Sasquatch wikipedia page to see previous lineups.
If you're bugged by corporate sponsorship, Sasquatch is not the fest for you. Everything is expensive, but you won't find a festival where that's not the case.
I'd say it worth the money, but I'm biased. You could look into coachella too.

I think you and your GF will have a blast. Enjoy the road trip as well! You'll be driving through some spectacular bits of the continent. It is getting a little bit more corporate over the years, but it doesn't sound as bad as Bonnaroo (I've never been to the 'roo so Im guessing here..). It's a great time and the people are laid back and fun to be around.
Re bands - The Flaming LIps have played in sequential years but I don't recall any others - at least not headliners. It will probably be a few years before Modest Mouse put in another appearance. That being said, the BEST thing about Sasquatch IMHO is being amazed at new bands you would otherwise never hear - some of my favorites today I had never listened to before Sasquatch.

Sometimes bands play 2 years in a row (Deadmau5 and Passion Pit come to mind) but I dont think headliners ever do repeat appearances. It would be pretty lame to have the same headliner twice in a row.
Like drew said, stuff is expensive at sasquatch too. $9 beers and ~$10 lunches. They are there to make money, it isnt a chairity event. You can bring your own lunches into the fest to save some coin, and smuggle in liquor if you want, but you should probably plan to spend 50-100 bucks on food beer and ice throughout the festival.

I love roadtrips, and I love Sasquatch, and Arkansas pretty much sucks so I say fucking go for it and maybe never go back.

If there's one thing I fucking hate more than listening to snot-nosed idealists bitching about things being too 'corporate', it's people in their late twenties who bitch about things being too 'corporate' without being bothered to concern themselves with such rudimentary things as basic punctuation and spelling.
You could have typed one sentence, and that sentence sure as fuck wouldn't have needed its own brand new thread. "wil modest mouse be their next yer?" would have done just fine.
If you think you're going to find any music festival in the country that isn't going to offend your delicate bohemian sensibilities, then I hate to tell you this but you have a long lifetime of various disappointments ahead of you. Five fucking dollars says that in nine months you're going to be one of the assholes that starts asking how easy it is to sneak in to the Gorge Amphitheater. Just spare us, okay? Thanks.

did you have to take the time out to be a dick? have you ever been to roo? if not, then you dont know what i'm talking about. idc about corporate sponsors. By corporate, i mean that "bottom line" attitude, if you dont have anything positive to add, then why say anything at all. negativity is a disease on this planet, and you sir are a carrier. I hope you can figure out what ever it is in your own life that has you so angry that you need to lash out against strangers on the internet. i wish you all the best in that.

Yeah, just shut up.
Sasquatch is sponsored by Honda, Xbox and Esurance. Corporations. You'd fucking hate it. I don't recommend it.

We've been trying to figure out what his problem is too, higherdipshit, we just can't put our fingers on it! He's a tough nut to crack, that horned grandmother.
Anyway, thanks for your excellence. Any further questions?

For something in 'merika, try Burning Man, for something not to far from the US of A, try Shambhala. There are festivals out there that don't pander to corporate sponsorship, they do however pale in comparison to Sasquatch. I hope you can look past the fact that there are giant Honda, XBOX, Esurance and Redbull banners everywhere because generally, next to those posters lies a great band that you may or may not have known you love.

Anyone have a running tally on how many times the "if you dont like it, dont comment on it" defence has been used on gramma? Also, nice. That one was subtle. "wil modest mouse be their next yer?" would have done just fine. And, ed! I think... Or just a really funny coincidence. TRY TYPING LIKE AN ADULT about corporate sponsors.

whether it's 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning, $5 for a 'taxi' ride is a great deal. those walks to/from the campsite can be super deadly in that heat/long night of partying

the fact that the taxi's where there was not a bad thing, i enjoyed them, and the drivers for the most part where cool as shit. this is my problem, we camped about 1.5 miles from centeroo, there was a open campsite that they closed down right next to centeroo and opened up ours way the fuck out there. i think they did this to cause us to have to pay the taxi and walk by all the extra venders. shit like that annoys me. the music was great. but i dont want to talk about roo, i want to hear you guys tell me how chill and awesome sasquatch is so i can sell my girl on dropping a few thousand next year to road trip it. i am pretty sure we will, unless modest mouse is playing somewhere else, i'm kind of on a mission to see them.
