I get the feeling that I might be one of the only people watching Mr. Greene on Saturday (at least of those on these boards). That's understandable. He got stuck with a tough time slot.
I'm nervously excited to see him for the first time. His EP is such great summer music and with such a long dreary spring, I just can't wait to be hanging out in the sun at the gorge and grooving to 'New Theory'.
Who's with me on this?

Going to be a day of the show decision between the hill for Iron and Wine and the tent for Washed Out.

Going to be a day of the show decision between the hill for Iron and Wine and the tent for Washed Out. Not really much of a decision for me. I've been looking forward to seeing Iron & Wine almost as much as the Glowpocalypse!

I wanted to catch Washed Out, but due to conflicts it just isn't gonna happen.

I might check out some of Washed Out after The Antlers finish up. Depends on what Matt & Kim have to say about it.

Yeah they got stuck with an impossible slot. I would have loved to but Sam beam owns my heart and I'm going to try to retrieve it.

Add me to the few who will be skipping Iron & Wine for Washed Out instead. This was one of my biggest conflicts. I can live with missing Flying Lotus due to the conflict with the Flaming Lips, but not FlyLo AND Washed Out. I need my downtemp/chill/experimental fix for the weekend.

"experimental"...?

I use that term when I can't really fit an artist into a particular genre.

That would be derpstep and "chillwave", respectively. It kills my soul to type the word "chillwave", but not as much as you labeling Washed Out as experimental because they aren't. I'm trying to think of a single legit experimental band that has played at Sasquatch in any of the last ten years.

I just looked over wikipedia to see if anyone experimental had ever played sasquatch and I don't see a single person. I did laugh though cause I didn't realize 3 of this years headliners all played on one day in 03.

Mike Patton is the only bona fide experimental musician to ever show up at Sasquatch, and his set with Crudo was just a straight-forward traditional rock performance for the most part.
Disappointing, even though that shit was intensely awesome. I'd flip my lid for some more really "out there" shit at the Gorge.

There are a few bands that I would say have done some experimental stuff. Caribou, The Dirty Projectors and Battles come to mind. I may be thinking of the word experimental completely differently though.

Eh, that's a good list but those are still experimental-leaning indie bands for the most part. I'll give you Caribou, I guess.

I dunno if we're going to loosen up the definition to allow Caribou's set last year then you might as well just allow animal collective too

I really don't want to start loosening up the definition. What I'd really like is some Ohneotrix or some Fuck Buttons or some motherfucking Residents up in.

That would be derpstep and "chillwave", respectively. I am now proud to know that people outside my circle of friends use the term "derpstep". I agree that chillwave is a lame name for a genre.
