Thanks Gang! And don't be such a stranger 'round here.
PS - That's kinda crazy how you bookended the mix with accidental COMAS.

Especially strange that COMAS was the clue that led me to guess Gang.

Late Night Sock Hop in the Darkest of Woods (In 25 parts)So I got my mix in the mail and pulled out the CD. Awesome, yet weird cover. Not only did my person try to create a story with their mix, but they actually wrote a short story to go along with it. I sat down and listened to the first song and read the first portion of the story. I then stopped the CD and went into my kitchen. I realized that this wasn't going to be a simple story and listen through. I grabbed my bottle of port, picked out some snacks and went to work. I'll post the track listing and type out the story. Then I'll put up my review afterwards. I strongly suggest people find all of these songs and then go through the story.

Nina Simone - Sinnerman
It all feels like a dream, but you know you definitely aren't dreaming because these are definitely somebody else's thoughts. Thoughts you can feel, and it feels like someone has done something bad. Real bad. This is not a good place. That, if anything, you are most certain of. You can hear someone calling out "Sinnerman" and it makes you want to squeeze your eyes shut so tight that you may pass out. You can' see any blood, but you know there is blood everywhere...
Link Wray - Jack the Ripper
... This isn't my jacket I'm wearing you think to yourself as you examine the worn leather. You run your fingers along the tiny indents near the right hand cuff imagining they couldn't be made by anything other than human teeth. A man comes to you from, well from what appears to be nothing. It's the first time you've noticed your new surroundings and it's not just empty, but it's nothing. Except The Man. The Man says his name is Jack and his voice makes you want to shut your eyes tight once again. He tells you the jacket ket is His, but that you will need it where you will be going. He tells you once more that his name is Jack and that Jack is The Devil. This frightens you because The Devil is The Devil, but a man, a man who calls himself The Devil is not to be fucked with. But you go with him anyway. He tells you The Band will give you all the answers you need to know. If you listen carefully. He tells you that there is a Dance in the Darkest of Woods that awaits you, but first there are things you should know. Someone has killed your wife...
Plastic Bertrand - Ca Plan Pour Moi
...This is Paris you tel yourself. This is also the first instance you've thought about the time. You have no watch just as you have no memory of ever being in Paris, yet the streets seem to be as much part of you as your new leather jacket. The streets are as familiar as an old friend and you follow one. You can hear people speaking French and it's all of a sudden very probable that you can speak French too. Then you see her...
Tommy James and the Shondells - Crimson and Clover
...You're now at a party in the girl's apartment which has rugs on the walls and the people here are sitting on every surface you could fashion a seat out of. Someone is sitting on an upside down garbage can and this bothers you considerably. There are so many people here. One man with a glass eye was drinking whiskey from a wooden cup and gesticulating carelessly as he spoke of Outer Space in a sickly roar. The cup swayed without pattern as its golden contents tidal waved up only to fluidly curl backwards into the cup without making a splash. You are almost hypnotized by the liquid ballet in the old wooden cup. When you break your gaze from it you notice the One Eyed Man is looking at you, he is smiling. You aren't sure if it is a friendly smile, so you move away. As you turn around you stumble into the chest of a man who is missing one hand. He says nothing and moves past you toward the One Eyed Man. The girl is sitting on the floor with a guitar nestled into her crossed legs. All of a sudden you've completely forgotten you'd seen her earlier in the day even though you realize you are only here because she invited you to be here. You are in love with her and you mind slows down...
Adam and the Ants - Prince Charming
...The girl is slumped next to our body as you both stumble down the cobbled streets. She is very happy and you are both very drunk. You get to a door and realize you have a key for the door pressed inside your pant's pocket. It is obvious that his apartment is where you both live. You really wish you could know the time. Words are repeating in your head, almost like it is a sentence struggling to follow, but all that can be remembered are the first two words. Over and over, as if it were an engine trying to turn over. The girl is happy and in love with you. The words keep repeating until you begin to speak them aloud which soon causes you to feel intense pleasure...
Marcos Valle - Crickets Sing For Anamaria
...This is the happiest moment in your life, except you can't tell if it is a memory or if it's happening this very moment. Thins are moving very fast and it feels like you are watching a film. First you are holding hands, then you are at her parent's apartment, you're kissing after just taking a drink of red wine, then you are in a park and the park does not look like any park you know from Paris, you soon realize you have been viewing this all from outside your body. You begin to suspect that perhaps this isn't even you and that someone may be trying to get you to believe this man is you...
Raymond Scott - The Girl at the Typewriter
...You are in the place where there is nothing again. You hear music. As you focus harder on the music you realize you are not in the place with nothing, but a dark wooded area. As you follow the music you can make out the moving shapes of a band in the darkness. The Band is following the precise movements of its Band Leader. He tells you to pay attention to the music and asks you if you have seen your wife lately. He says you should get ready for The Dance and tells you that you are asking for trouble wearing that jacket to The Dance. It is at this point that you realize you have never seen The Band Leader's face the entire time and that he has been conduction The Band with his back to you all along. It is entirely possible no one has spoken to you at all...
Brenda Lee - Sweet Nothing's
...You are still in the wooded area, but now there are red and blue lights everywhere that seem to come from no specific source, just a gauzy haze. There is also a green and white checkered dance floor with an immaculate coat of varnish that causes a radiant glow. Everyone is dancing, you are sitting at the bar on a stool, watching. The people here are the most beautiful people you have ever seen. Your wife is dancing by herself on the dance floor, only you realize that she isn't. She is dancing with you. When did I leave the stool you wonder? She presses her red lips to your ear and softly whispers something about a man following her ever since the two of you decided to leave Paris all those years ago. She says she has never been more frightened in her entire life than she is right now. She hasn't stopped dancing...

Raymond Scott - Twilight in Turkey
...You are back in the dark woods and you are starting to suspect that these dark woods might be a different woods altogether. The Band is playing and you can't hear anything, rather you can hear, but none of it makes sense until you hear the saxophone. All of a sudden you realize you've been sitting on a sawed off tree stump watching The Band play for hours. They are a very good Band...
Nancy Sinatra - Friday's Child
...Your wife is on stage and you catch yourself thinking she is perhaps the most beautiful person at The Dance, though you can now begin to make out the faint outlines of tables with people you had not seen before, stretching all the way into the darkest corners of the woods. It's not that you think they may hold someone more beautiful than her, it's just that there are far more people here than you initially believed. In fact as you stare longer they appear to be arranged in tiered seating.l All of them watching the Dance Floor. The darkness moves your vision in and out but you could swear there are perhaps thousands of them sitting up there silent and dead eyed in their seats, watching. You turn your attention back to your wife. How long has she been singing for? While you can see her delicately form syllables with her mouth, her words are clearly inside your head. You feel if you could concentrate hard enough, you'd be able to pull yourself out of your head, like double vision, and see your wife singing silently to the dance floor, to the people in the woods. Everyone transfixed in silence. The sound is deafening inside your head...
Raymond Scott - The Penguin
...Your eyes re shut tight and you can't exactly remember when you decided to close them, nor can you remember when you went back to The Band in the woods. You want to ask the Band Leader about the man following you wife, but a hunger comes over you. Your ears begin devouring the noise of each instrument, lingering and allowing each delicious note to imprint on your flesh. A fire has started in front of you, the flames obscure The Band and send a rush through your whole body, entering your head and intertwining with the devoured sound like a snake nest. You are ready to dance and want to get back to the fucking Floor....
Johnny and the Pirates - Shakin' All Over
...Your body is electric as you effortlessly weave through The Dance Floor. Your hips are attached to the music, you are a cool motherfucker, you have a pair of dark sunglasses on that you didn't have before, the edges of everything have blurred, the jacket is armor, the jacket is something that lets every motherfucker know not to fuck with you when you are dancing. And you are dancing.....
Raymond Scott - Oil Gusher
...This is the first time you've remembered anything that has happened. The feeling of remembering, the feeling of remembering. How long has it been since you've remembered anything? Only when you really think about it, remembering yourself on The Dance Floor is like imagining a different version of yourself. You remember the way you moved and feel that it wasn't you at all who was moving in that way, even though this is the first memory you are sure is real. This is when you see the Face. The Face is Jack, the man that told you he was The Devil. You wonder how it is possible you only were able to see him in your memory? As if your eyes were subconsciously gathering data for you to interpret at a later time,k allowing you to groove like a smooth Motherfucker on The Dance Floor. Only now you are pretty sure that you were never actually dancing in the first place. It feels like someone is trying to make you believe you are someone you're not once again. You suddenly remember that you had to remember to remember about The People who are trying to make you believe you are someone you are not...
The Bobby Fuller Four - Let Her Dance
...Your vision is blurred. The blue and red haze of the Dance Floor lights smear into the expending fuzz of moving shapes you can only assume are people dancing. All at once the expanding fuzz contracts like a released elastic into the defined shapes of your wife dancing with a man who has his back to you. She is smiling, but not at the man. She is smiling over his shoulder at you. You are sitting at the bar on a tall stool letting the small of your back rest against the bar, your arms are outstretched along the grooved wood as each hand splashes into different alcohols, keeping time with the music. You nod your head to the music until you realize you are swaying wildly on the stool, lifting it off the ground each time in the opposite direction of your rolling head. You open your eyes to see your wife's face yelling soundlessly over the man's shoulder. She breaks a hand free and extends it, her elbow fulcruming awkwardly over his back because he is slightly taller than her. The horror on her face paralyzes you and your vision blurs and the sound of the music disappears in expanding smear of lights, the woods and your wife's panicked eyes....

Raymond Scott - The Toy Trumpet
... You're still at the bar, only the dance floor has vanished. In fact everything has vanished except the bar, your stool, and shelves that appear to be floating in blackness, one on top of the other. Each row lined with the same unlabeled whiskey stretching up farther than your eyes can see. A man with a glass eye sits down beside you. Where did he come from, you wonder. He's sucking back whiskey from a wooden cup which causes you to notice the seven empty shot glasses in front of you and the full glass of the golden liquid in your hand. The One Eyed Man takes a long sip from his cup, letting the drops that escape his lips run down his grizzled chin, but before they could fall to the floor, he's already caught them with his impossibly long tongue. He leans in to you and says, Have I ever told you the story about how I lost my one and only right eye? You tell him you have never met him before. He tells you he thought you once met at a party and talked about a Man and a Woman. You tell him once more you have never met before. Then I've probably never told you all about it, but stop me if you've head it before. This was back in the olden days, as in the real old days when I lived in the apartment with my sister, Joanna, under the patterned rumblings the number 15 that carried men in black hats and long jackets to their distilled suburban homes on the Island. Joanna was a mean old gal who used to eat all of her meals raw, only using her thick hands to dismantle her gummy pink pork and loafs of stale bread, but none of that is important to how I lost my one and only right eye. I lost my one and only right eye the first time I went into outer space....
Lloyd Price - Stagger Lee
... You're back on The Dance Floor and a fight has broken out all around you. There are only men in black leather jackets and dark sunglasses on The Floor. Each of them flashing a long switch blade and snapping their fingers in time to the music. They practically appear to be dancing with one another, bending their knees, flicking the blades from one hand to the other, circling to the left then to e right, smiling a fixed smile and never once acknowledging your presence.
Brigitte Bardoe - L'appareil a Sous
....I was walking past the men in their black hats and their long jackets looking to catch the 145 downtown. I hid my face from them as I was not the type of man who wanted to make eye contact with these sorts. When I looked up to see if my train was coming I saw the entire platform was deserted. Instantaneously, poof! Everyone was gone. And not just everyone on the platform, but every single person on the planet was gone. I couldn't see anywhere outside of the platform of course, but I could FEEL there was nobody left out there, perhaps never had been. And no, I wasn't on medications or narcotics or booze. Back in the olden days of living with my sister Joanna, I didn't drink, smoke, chew or associate with those that do, no sir. So when I say everybody disappeared that is exactly what happened. A train then came from the west, it read the number "4533". The conductor told me he as worried I wouldn't show up today an hurried me to climb aboard. Before I could ask where we were going, my body began to pull itself apart from the sheer velocity of our traveling speed. I looked down at my feet and saw them hundreds of miles below me still attached to my tapered legs which were elongating along a subtle curvature. When I finally stopped with a gentle tug, the train car was nowhere to be seen and I found myself floating in the blackness of outer space. A bright light appeared and forced my eyes shut. A voice came from the light and told me I needed to tell my story to every person I meet from now on. It began to say I had a mission to save the planet earth from extinction as it was part of The Nine and in the most peril of all of them which would cause... and that's when I opened my one and only right eye. I woke up in a field of sparse oats, my one and only right eye was gone and I never saw Joanna and that apartment again. When you break your gaze from him you notice The One Eyed Man is looking at you, he is smiling. You aren't sure if it is a friendly smile, so you move away. As you turn around you stumble into the chest of a man who is missing one hand. He says nothing and moves past you toward the One Eyed Man....
Clarence "Frogman" Henry - Ain't Got No Home
... You open your eyes to screams and blood. You are on The Dance Floor and the bodies of leather and knives are tumbling over tables as you catch the repeated glint of blades entering into the backs, faces, legs, and arms of men. Blood sprays into the air like a punctured soda can. Screams. You look down at your own hands and see you have a long switchblade in your left hand and the metal is covered in dark blood. You mechanically drag the flat of one side across your jeans then turn it over and drag the other side just like how you once saw someone do in the movies...
Serge Gainsbour and Brigite Bardot - Bonnie and Clyde
... You find yourself in a basement, or it could even be the top floor of an apartment, there are heavy blankets covering the windows and they have been nailed into the wall, suffocating the chance of light. Your eyes adjust to the darkness and you see two people sitting across from you. One is a slender man in his 40's with deep bags under his eyes and a face that appeared too tired to even be a face. The other is a woman. She is blond and beautiful and wearing a fur coat. A chess board sits atop an over turned garbage can serving as a table separating you from them. The man pours some red wine into a steel chalice then passes it to the woman. The woman produces a slender vile and lightly taps a brown powder into it. She passes the chalice to you and urges you with a cold stare to drink it. All of it. The powder has dissolved and is tasteless amongst the heavy scent of the wine. You realize the last time you had this kind of wine was when you lived in Paris. Am I in Paris, you wonder. What time is it?.....

The Seeds - You're Pushing Too Hard
...You are back on The Dance Floor. Your body begins to feel like it is both melting and merging into the air around you. This has to do with the powder in the wine you can only assume. You look toward The Floor and see all of the beautiful people that were once there are gone. Replacing them are creatures of human posture but with insect like heads containing slanted black oval eyes and pointed mouths. A wave of understanding comes through the air and seamlessly telegraphed into your brain, these creatures have been here the whole time. They were the beautiful people. A piano begins to play in the distance and it reminds you of a time you were in a dark room surrounded in blood where someone had once done something very bad...
Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot - Bloody Jack
...You are back in the room with the man and the woman. The air feels like syrup and you can see your thoughts being processed outside of your mind. They pass through an assembly line of machinery in the distance, you are not aware of what the thought is yet. A plume of green smoke escapes the machinery in the distance and languidly travels through the syrupy air. Suddenly you remember the room with all the blood and you are aware of Everything. You understand t the man, Jack, you met all that time ago is trying to turn you into a man you are not. Possibly he is trying to make you think you are him. You are almost certain that Jack is the person who has killed your wife and now he is trying to have you kill her once again through having you believe you are Jack. Your eyes dart to the couple across from you. You've forgotten that your thoughts are being manufactured in the open air for everyone present to see. It's clear they have understood what you were thinking. The man produces a long knife and slowly releases his grip of the thick handle, the knife floats through the liquid air and lands into your left hand. You understand now that you need to kill Jack before he kills your wife. These people must be your friends from Paris and they are giving you the knife to kill Jack. You look up once more and see the two of them smiling, you then remember your thoughts are still on display. This causes you to laugh, the couple begins to laugh as well which makes you howl hysterically. Your eyes have been shut tight from the laughter that when you open them you need to readjust to the darkness once more. Once you eyes can make out the room you see the couple is no longer there and that you have severed your right hand from your body. Streams of blood fall from your jacket down to he floor. Your knife is still being held tight in your left hand....
The Flamin' Groovies - Gonna Rock Tonight
...You find yourself back on The Dance Floor. Everybody is dancing. Their knees bouncing, fingers snapping, toes tapping, hips swinging, hands flailing, heads lolling and shoulders grooving. The Beautiful people are dancing with the Insect People and The Band from The Woods is sitting at the bar talking to the One Eyed Man. Your right hand is still a bloody stump and you realize it must be part of the plan to turn you into The Man who killed your wife. Jack. Immediately you wrestle the leather coat he gave you off your body. You pull your right arm out of the sleeve, slick with blood, and try to flap the fucking thing wildly away from your left arm. It's caught at your wrist so you bring it to your mouth and bite down on the cuff as hard as you can. You yank your head backward and feel our teeth almost wrench from your face just as the jack slips over your wrist onto the ground. Through the dancing crowd you gaze upon Jack. He is standing at the far edge of The Floor with the Man and the Woman. Your wife is nowhere to be seen. Jack runs to a door you never noticed before. He flings it open and offers you a smile over his shoulder as he slips through the narrow opening. You follow him through the opening and ready yourself to kill him...
Mr. Bungle - Vanity Fair
...You arrive in a dinning hall completely adorned in white. Even the elaborate chandeliers seem to give off a white glow. You are at the back of the large room and can hardly tell where the shining floor ends and the stage begins. The Band appears to be hovering in the air as the white illusion distorts reality. Other than The Band there are only three people in the entire hall. You, your wife and Jack. Jack is sitting with your wife in the middle of the large hall, surrounded by vacant white tables. He beckons you over to take a seat, the gesture he makes causes you to suddenly abandon all malicious intent toward the man. You sit down across from them. I have something to tell you, Jack says. I didn't kill your wife. Your wife offers no reaction to this, she stares ahead as if the two other people were not even present. You did. No one was ever trying to turn you into a man you were not. You have created everything you have been through. You created me to be a murderer and made yourself the avenger. The only person you were changing into was yourself. I'm sorry. Even as I speak now I am only a part of your mind, I am you. You've been through this all before, that much I do know. Why you killed her I do not know, other than it had to do with you making a deal with the Man and the Woman, something your wife knew would bring you trouble. As his words sink in you realize you have had your eyes closed with tears streaming down your tired face. You see The Man, Jack, is no longer in front of you and the your wife is now slumped beside you, soundlessly nestled against your body like she once was a very long time ago...
Tommy James and the Shondells - Mirage
..The steep streets of Montmatre are slick with the morning's dew causing the sun to gleam brightly off of the raised cobbles. You sit outside a cafe with the girl you met in the street three weeks ago. The two of you have yet to sleep since yesterday and now sit wordlessly beaming at one another having expounded all your energies in intense perfect conversation all day and night yesterday. The two of you walked from the low lands of the Champs de Elysee to these high narrow streets of the Montmatre rapt in talk and the touch of each other's hands. You' never felt more comfortable with any other person in your life, every word that escaped her soft mouth you absorbed into your being and could feel the always lacking foundation of yourself being restored, word by word. Conversely, each word that left your mouth felt electric, the mechanical movements of conversation became nothing short of exciting knowing the receiver was this perfect person beside you. Your brain was on fire. The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame, we completely unnoticed, in fact, all of Paris momentarily ceased to exist. You were in a world of two, with a connection so strong its universe began and ended along the contours of your bodies. It's only now that you realize you have walked across the city and found yourselves at an old cafe in the early morning. A man who seems to be missing an eye walks past you, he is followed by a man and a woman, when they pass they leave behind a deserted street, quiet and still. You turn your attention back to her and remain soundless as you both knowingly gaze into one another's universe....
David Lynch - Walking on the Sky
....Fire....
The End

Ok I don't even know where to start. First off, the story is fantastic. It feels like Tarintino and Lynch had a lovechild and they put this down on paper. The way the music fits in is brilliant.
Starting it off with Nina Simone was great because she's one of my top 5 vocalists ever. Adam and the Ants was awesome because it hit my soft spot for the post punk/new wave era of music. Friday's Child is such a damn good song....good pick. Ain't Got No Home threw me off the story for a second. Only because every time I hear that song I get a visual of Corey Haim singing it in the bathtub in Lost Boys. Bonnie and Clyde was my favorite track on the CD that I've never heard before, thank you.
The music kept bouncing me back and forth between eras and genres. Every time a Raymond Scott song would come on I kept getting black and white visuals of a twisted carnie side show feeling to the story where everything was overly animated. Kind of like the very first Disney flicks where everything was on a loop. Then the mood would switch when the song would change to a surfer rock tune and I could see the main character with slicked back hair, the leather jacket and a old cafe racer chopper near by.
All in all a fan-fucking-tastic mix. Obviously not something I would listen to in my car. Grabbing a bottle and sitting down and just diving into the mix with the story was an absolute trip and I thank you for the journey. I would love nothing more than to have a beverage with you at Sasquatch.

Even though I've already PM'd him, I just want to publicly acknowledge how awesome of a dude Shaxy is for taking the time to transcribe my rambles and giving such an indepth review of my mix. Made my feel all warm inside. Couple that with the badass package he sent down to Cat and Stamper and I think it is worth noting it is a great win for all of us to have him as part of our little community!
Thanks Shax!
