I just hope every media outlet stops or at least tones down the amount of verbal fellatio they're currently giving Sidney Crosby. I can't even watch a hockey game between two teams in the other conference without getting 20min of speculation about what kind of season Sid is going to have.

But when that was R N-H getting his nines rounded between every fucking break at the beginning of the season, it was any different?(sorry for the Edmonton low blow, it just got to me at the beginning of the season)
I do agree they are over doing it , but would you hella expect anything else? And just because I can see the future because I'm cool like that-- no they will not tone down the "verbal fellatio", or any other type of fellatio; every move Sid makes, good or bad, for the rest of the season will be front page news...sorry.
It's Canada, we don't really have much else to talk about.

RNH was getting his 9s rounded up all over the place? I had no idea. I mean I know he got some attention, but I don't think it's all that comparable. Crosby's press conference to tell the media that he was cleared for practice speaks for itself I think.

Every intermission they were talking about him. You are correct there was no RNH press conference, but to be perfectly honest, I think Sid's case kind of needed a conference, no?

I only watch HNiC when the Oilers are playing, because I can't stand the Leafs. I guess I just assumed that they stopped talking about the Oilers after their game ended...as has been the case for the past decade or so.

Nope. They were seriously talking about him a lot, especially Ron. I was like, "ok we get it, he's a rookie, he's a number one pick, are we surprised he's doing good". The only comparable I wa trying to make is that it felt overblown, as the Crosby saga does, the media has become terrible at that(or maybe they always were).

I had no idea.
I get so annoyed when things get overblown in the media. Mostly when there's absolutely nothing new to report, yet the same story is on the news or whatever for like 4 days straight. WE GET IT, NOW REPORT SOME ACTUAL FUCKING NEWS, PLEASE.
I think we're on the same page here.

Sid is the best player in the game. The face of the NHL. When the best player/face of the industry is out for half a season and starts the next season with no concrete idea for returning, you better believe their will be a press conference about it. Why wouldn't there be? Sports is business yo'. Advertise yo' product and make good business so those of us who enjoy following it can do so because people is paying attention. The name of the game isn't "let the people figure this stuff out on their own, no need to encourage them or keep them on board with any type of reason to believe something awesome might happen. Nah, let us all be unbiased and leave the hype at the door, like any good business does." Business yo'.

My problem isn't with the Penguins or the NHL's advertising or informing the public, it's with the highlights shows force-feeding it to people who likely already have heard the news. I just wanna see RNH's latest goal haha

But seriously, did you see Sid's first goal? That was ridonkulous. I'm glad he's back and I don't mind the coverage at all. He's the best player in the world and I think the amount of coverage is deserved. Could you imagine if Lebron James was out of the NBA for a year with an injury and then came back and dropped like 60 points in his first game back? What do you think the coverage would be like for that?
Sid has been the one bright spot in an otherwise miserable season of hockey for me. Don't let them take that from me Alex, it's all I have.

4 points in his first game back definitely deserves all the attention it got. It's the constant "nothing has changed" news stories over the past 10 months that really got under my skin and made me bitter about everything to do with him now.

If anybody ends up watching the Oilers game tonight, keep an eye out for a guy in a retro jersey who can't wipe the grin off his face. I'll be in the 7th row on the Columbus blue-line.
