Haha damn. Glad I'm not at Lolla.
It can't be as bad as the hail storm, and they didn't evacuate us.
I evacuated on my own, but that's another story.

Nater sent me a picture of Sigur Ros from Osheaga last night, along with the following texts:
"Really good dude. Really good."
"For the record, Sigur ros was one if the best bands I saw today. WAY better live. Like whoa."
"Ya. I'm super judgey. Mgmt SUCKED. Flourence wa okay. Franz was pretty fun. Justice smelt like armpit but was a good time. Sigur ros was beautiful."
"So good. Super beautiful. Should have stayed. SO FUN."
"Ya. Missng out!!"
"So fuckibg good"
ERMAHGERD drunk Nater Ros texts get me so excited for Sigur Ros in 4 days! I also love the obligatory Canadian "u" she added to Florence.

Yeah. I was with Nater and we wanted to check out Sigur Ros because of the hype you guys gave them. I remember after the first song, we turned to each other and said "wow!". Totally should have stayed longer, but I think I would much prefer to see them in a more intimate setting. What was interesting was how quiet the crowd was while they were playing. Everyone just focused on the band and not talking while they were playing. Man they sounded great.

Osheaga Cliff Notes:
Best sets:
Friday - Sigur Ros. Even though I only saw a couple of songs, it sounded that good.
Saturday - Little Dragon. I haven't been that sweaty in some time. Dance party!
Sunday - Santigold. See Saturday.
Honorable mentions: Franz Ferdinand, Justice, Of Monsters and Men, Yaysayer, and Tame Impala

Two amazing festivals back to back... jesus.
Last week was Calgary Folk Fest. Dan Mangan stole the show for me... it was just the perfect venue for him and the perfect crowd to do a hippy singalong of Robots. He was pretty cool too - went to all the volunteer/artist after parties. Megatron and I chatted with him one night and he was uber friendly, we got a pic. Its a terrible pic, BUT WE GOT IT. Folk fest does this really neat thing too where they have members from a few bands on a stage together and they take turns playing songs, and the other musicians jump in and jam with them. Really cool when it works well.Fell in deeper love with Reuben and the Dark. Caught some of RANDY FUCKING NEWMAN. Discovered a bunch of new neat folky artists.
This weekend was OSHEAGA, which thanks to a couple of amazing people I got to go to! The highlights for me were Garbage, Franz Ferdinand, Dan Mangan, poutine and smoked meat in a crepe, Wolfgang Gartner, Santigold (liked at Sasq, but LOVED at Osheaga! so much fun), and Sigur Ros (did not expect to be THAT blown away, great recommendation folks). The venue is a bit wonky with lots of bottlenecks, but it was only really that bad the first day. The only negative of the weekend is the nightmares I'm going to have from Emily Haines' cracked out eyeballs.
Also, a massive shout out to Shax and his amazing woman, Megatron. Not only did they make the weekend possible, they made it AMAZING. Two of the coolest people out there, hands down. Internet people are the best!

Awesome! I can't wait to see him headline in a little theater in Montana. What a freakin contrast from a festival set that will be.

Osheaga was pretty good this year. Got waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too crowded though. It was brutal and a total chore to get from stage to stage. Food situation was a disaster. Well over an hour to get anything to eat, and a lot of places ran out of food on the Friday.
The weather was pretty wild too. Going from scorching hot to monsoon level rains and back again all in the span of 15 minutes. Good times.
Best shows:
1. M83 - Un-fucking real. One of the best shows I've seen all year. I am so glad I gave them another shot after hating their Coachella set. They sounded fantastic, the crowd was great and it was just perfect. Best of all: SEXY SAX SOLO!!!!!!!!!!!
2. Passion Pit - Awesome dance party with some really cool moments. Rain started pouring just as they came out, everyone in the pit started going crazy and then after about 20 minutes the sun broke through and the crowd went nuts again. I love this band and it was the first time I got to see them, and it was fantastic.
3. Sigur Ros - Really, really great show, but I don't think they are meant for festivals. An hour set in a huge festival setting does not do these guys justice.
4. Justice - These guys are just fucking awesome.
5. Florence - Still one of the best singers I have ever seen live. She is phenomenal.
Other notes: "Snoop Lion" was pretty hilarious. Franz Fernidad was pretty lame. The Weeknd was sexy as hell.
I had a good time, but I can't imagine going back to the festival. It got way too big this year. To be honest I had a better time partying around the city. I would rather just go back to Montreal and spend a weekend in the city as opposed to going to the festival.
