So, I've decided I'm going to either Pitchfork or Lolla next year. Now that I realized my grandparents live a short 20 minute train ride from downtown Chicago there's no way I'm not going to catch one of them. Who's with me??

The GP's have 4 beds upstairs and a pull-out in the basement. We'll chat when the time comes!

I've been meaning to make it back to Chicago for a festival since 2008. Lollapalooza however is most least favorite festival. It's only dark for about 45 minutes because of the 10pm noise ordinance, and the main stages are literally a mile apart, so you can't move between them easily. Staying up until 430 a.m. at the bars, and eating spectacular food was the best part of my Chicago experience, and Radiohead.
In other words, it depends on the lineup/headliners. Chicago is a blast.

I'll for sure be at either Pitchfork or Lolla. Because of ticket prices alone I'll probably lean toward Pitchfork, but we'll see. I've been to the Chicago area at least a dozen times in my life but this was my first time experiencing it as an adult and I absolutely loved it. I'm starting to think it would be pretty awesome to gather a small group together for one of the fests, and you guys are definitely my favorite festival friends so maybe this is something that can be discussed further down the line. Free lodging after all!

Oh, and I suppose there won't be much of a better time to say it, but the reason I plan to make it to one of these is because Sasquatch 2012 is 100% off the table for me now. My best friend is getting married the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend so it just isn't going to happen for me. It's heartbreaking, but hopefully Coachella and a new festival experience will make up for it.

There's a good chance I'll hit up pitchfork next summer if I stay in Minneapolis. I might do Lolla as well but pitchfork is significantly more enticing

Hey, it saves everyone having to take an extra day off work, but almost everyone has big plans for holiday weekends, plans they have to break for said wedding. Worst of all, your anniversary is usually a holiday. Why not make that special weekend no one cares about be your special weekend? Plus, the grandparents could care less about holidays, they are already retired. Rant over, congrats to your buddy, and weddings are always fun, so it will be a blast. Then again, your best friend is likely Canadian, so this holiday weekend talk probably doesn't apply.

Nope, good old American boy, and I'm fucking pissed about the date they chose. It works out best for his family to travel (he is originally from Kansas) that weekend so what can I really say. I've made it very clear with him that he ruined my Sasquatch, but I've gotta be there for him.

Not that it is his fault, I've just always thought that if I want 100% of my invitees to attend my wedding, I will make it one the 47 weekends of the year they don't have booked already. And yes, I would skip Sasquatch for my best friend's wedding, maybe. Speaking of weddings on unfavorable weekends, do you know what weekend has the fewest amount of wedding per year? I read this once, so I cannot attest to it's accuracy, but it makes sense, and it's not xmas.

I "heard" it was the weekend of the Superbowl. Even non-football fans get together with their friends to watch the commercials that weekend. Plus, who wants to get married in early February?

Man, apparently after only going to Pitchfork Sunday I missed TV on the Radio covering my favorite Fugazi song (Waiting Room) on Sunday.

Also, Pea, if you end up going to Pitchfork next year, I might end up seeing you there.
