Last year it was just a one day thing with Tragically Hip, featuring a lightning storm and horrible organization. Hoping it's better this year. That sounds absolutely terrible. At least you got a neat lightning storm! Wonk is making a Tragically Hip joke. The OP used the Tragically Hip to identify the festival, while using "lightning storm" and "horrible organization" to signify why the festival sucked. Wonk used the lighting storm as the highlight of the festival while using "horrible organization" and "Tragically Hip headlining" as the reason it sucked. I thought Weenie was saying it sucked because Tragically Hip were headlining and then to compound the shitiness there was terrible organization and a thunderstorm. I could be wrong though.

Does this count as a festival? Because I'm doing it. In a terrible year for headliners, I think Edge-Fest did well for themselves. They grabbed two headliners who will sell tickets. Their second line is pretty run-of-the-mill for festivals. The worst part about this lineup is their undercard pretty much doesn't exist. It's the worst I've seen. I wouldn't fly across the country for this lineup. Wonk likes to make spoof posts, and this is an example. Even though the OP didn't intend for this festival to be critiqued like a giant festival, wonk pretended it was a giant festival, and critiqued it accordingly. When he made the joke about the undercard not existing, it's because the undercard literally doesn't exist.
Jared & the fucking Mill, dude. This one is like, across the street from my mom's house, whom I will be visiting at the time. It is also my first opportunity to take my 15-year-old brother to a show that he will actually remember. New Mexico is nearly as sparse for shows as Alaska, unless you're into Metallica cover bands. When I lived there in high school I would hang out on the freeway overpass so I could watch my favorite bands drive by on their way from Texas to Arizona and back, so it was very surprising for me to see this and a Built to Spill show happening during the same week of my trip.

Not to mention a guaranteed performance of 'Mexico'. If they somehow manage to avoid playing that fucking song on Cinco de Mayo, a couple hundred miles away from the country, in a state named after the damn place...

Not so much as a festival as a big concert and SUPER Canadian centric, but it's within biking distance of my house and is only $90 for what looks like two pretty fun days of shows. Matt Good, Sam Roberts, Mother Mother and Jimmy Eat World are worth it for me. Fuck City and Colour man. Bought tickets today for this event. Should be fun, and it's within walking distance to my house! It's actually a pretty good deal if you are only interested in going one day- There is a 3-pack option in which you can purchase 3 tickets for the same day for $95. Otherwise it is $60/per for a one day ticket. Any Vic folks (or Vancouver) should jump on this 3-pack deal with your buddies while the "limited quantities last"

If Weezer were playing within walking distance of my house, I would walk at least the distance to the venue. In the other direction. I'd sleep under a fucking bridge with my head in a box full of bricks. I'd reach up under the bridge and grab a spider's nest and stick it down my pants to drown out the soulless renditions of once-great songs with my terrified, agonized screams.

That wasn't a shot at you. He really hates Weezer. Thanks for the heads up. It's hard to tell with him. Other boarders have discussed this event a bit and nothing was said but the minute I bring it up, BAM- HG is in the house! I was just messing with him a bit. I'm sure HG knows a "friendly" retort when one is presented.

If I were you, I would be less concerned with what HG has to say.

I hate new weezer with a passion not found outside of things like spiders in my bed and misfitting underpants but I will plug my ears until pink triangle is played and consider myself lucky to have heard it.
(Seriously, you wrote an algorithm for the perfect pop song and then just gave up on interesting music? Fuck you more than anything else rivers fucking douchebag cuomo. You are everything that is wrong with music.)

Every album Weezer puts out still has had at least 2-3 tracks on it that I genuinely enjoy. Formulaic as fuck, sure, but I absolutely love a cheesy good pop song, and you can't deny the cheesy pop goodness of a track like this:

It seems like the only time I see Jimmy Eat World doing shows is at Canadian festivals. I had to do a quick Google search, because I started thinking they were a Canadian band.

They were at Coachella in 2011. They have an album coming out later this year as well so I wouldn't be surprised to see them on more festival lineups in 2014.

If I were you, I would be less concerned with what HG has to say. This. Anyway, I hardly ever read this thread because it seems every other festival ends up getting its own thread anyway. Three months out of the year, 25% of the posts on this board are about Osheaga or Rifflandia, and I don't really have any reason to care about those. I DO hate Weezer, though, and I'll always have something to say about that. 5kater doesn't seem to realize that he's already 'in'. Don't nobody tell him, it's fun watching him squirm unnecessarily.

My kids go to visit their mom so I'm usually nearing the end of a bottle by the time I get on the computer Less computer, more drunk dog walks.

I'm surprised the lineup isn't out already. It was Sasquatch weekend last year. I thought it would be again this year.
