So hey nick what are the chances of you being able to get down to Portland for the Friday show, and being able to appropriately cut loose?

Slim to none, sadly. I would not be able to afford it.

We'll all pitch in on your ticket and you can just hitch a ride on the caravan which (I presume) will be coming down from Seattle on Friday morning. And you can crash at our place, of course.
Which reminds me -- hey guys, how are we all getting down to Portland on Friday??

I am really loving the little bit of AMOK I've heard so far. A lot of In Rainbows and King of Limbs comparisons can be drawn, which is good or bad depending on the listener. I'm really not entirely sure what the point of this band is, though. I mean, it just sounds like fucking Radiohead.

HG: I know you're going to be anxious as fuck about getting back to PDX on Friday, so you and Storms are welcome to take my car whenever you get the itch on Friday morning. I plan on getting pretty ridiculous on Thursday night, so it's extremely unlikely that I will be out of bed before noon on Friday (or into bed before 6am on Friday for that matter). The caveat- my insurance card is expired. I have insurance but my proof of insurance is expired- gotta request a new card.

I am just super-nervous about getting stuck in Friday afternoon traffic out of Seattle and not making it to Portland until like half an hour before the show. For one thing, I have to try to get in line as early as possible, but more importantly there is a HUGE contingent of people coming to the PDX show and we're all meeting at my house.
So, yeah; I'm gonna be getting fairly silly on Thursday night as well, but I'm going to try to rein it in to the point that I will be able to take you up on that, if I can.
I'm going to be anxious as fuck every step of the way. Fair warning to everyone: I get a little bit insufferable when I am in the same city as the Residents.

CAKE- Showroom of CompassionI never saw it coming, but this is like the best Cake album. I imagine not many people have heard what Cake sound like in 2011 with the addition of piano and synthesizers and reverb and pedal steel guitar. It's pretty fuckin' awesome.

Those are actually the reasons that I don't really like Showroom of Compassion. There's some alright songs on there, but the addition of all those instruments makes it kinda not sound like Cake. Also the way they mic'd McCrea makes him sound all hollow.

I think they did a brilliant job of incorporating all that cool new shit while still retaining the Cake sound, and those mic issues won't matter when he's rocking it all up in yo' fuckin' face.
There also seems to be more room for jamming on this one, which you know I will always favor.
