Hey haven't had time to post since coming back from coachella.
A couple of bands that were not mentioned that really killed it were Elbow and Sleigh Bells.
When Elbow took the stage and started with birds, by the second verse, i was like, they are nothing special but by the end of the song i was blown away, they only played 7 songs in their 50 minute set but each song was epic.
With lippy kids being the highlight. Such a beautiful song.
I just cannot believe there not bigger in north america, they sould be on the main stage.
Geno, gorgol bordello killed it as well, it was the middle of the after noon 95 degrees with the sun just blistering but everybody was dancing, they have so much energy.

I got my tickets yesterday.
I don't know if Coachella does this every year, but it was in a custom box with stickers , photo cards, a calender, featuring previous lineups.
It was really a nice surprise. Much better than getting an envelope with 2 tickets inside.

I'm over at NPR where R.E.M. is premiering their new record Collapse Into Now in a 'listening party' format. Tonally falls somewhere between New Adventures in Hi-Fi and Monster. I really liked Accelerate, which sounded amazingly like the Lifes Rich Pageant R.E.M., but two songs into the new one and I already like it better. I didn't think they could write music like this anymore. Agreed, after the first listen, it blew me away, every song is solid, and after a few more listens I think this will be another classic.

Mesmerizing is right, it almost putting me in a trance like state, Feral is such an awesome song!! Yea... The second listen is sounding even stronger. This is going to grow into a monster of an album for me. I'm SOFA KING happy right now haha. If I can find one flaw so far it has to be the way the album ends. The closing song is a good one, but it just sort of....stops, and then that's it. I think another softer ambient leaning track afterward would have complimented it really nicely. Hey Pea, there is a lot of talk on the internet that KOL was the first part of a double album. So your comment here makes sense. Seperator( get it)might be the end of the first album. That may be why it just sorta stops

Radiohead - King of Limbs ALL DAY LONG. First listen and I'm mesmerized. A lot of people will view this album as an underwhelming release but I find it to be quite wonderful so far. It's easily their softest album since Kid A but I wouldn't compare the two at all. It has alot of the vibes of the more laid back tracks off In Rainbows. My only dissapointment so far is that I'm sitting in a work van while I feel like I should be slowly floating through space with this album. Oh and 37 minutes IS pretty damn short but I'll take what I can get. Mesmerizing is right, it almost putting me in a trance like state, Feral is such an awesome song!!

I'm certain they can budget another higher(ish) tiered act. I'm also certain that at this point they won't. Agreed

AF bailing last minute makes sense to me based on the lineup we did get - Wilco / MM being promoted to a headlining slot. It makes me wonder if there might be some budget left over for a decent addition to Friday. The rate of ticket sales may deter spending to get another sub-headliner style act though. that's they other thing I didn't understand, was that Wilco has headlined A lot of festivals and is big PNW, I would have thought they would have been listed before DCFC and MM but are performing on the Monday.

i know i'm late to the radiohead lyrics discussion, but quoting their first two albums made during the grunge era doesn't real say anything about their lyrics. plus creep fucking blows. and explosions doesn't win. andrew bird wins. Oh doumak, Did you wake up sucking a lem-on?

I now Know why Arcade fire Refused to play!!!!!!( conspiracy theory)
If in Fact Modest Mouse was supposed to be on Friday and Arcade Fire was On Sunday, who would have been their Sub's , That's right Flips.
Awkward.
When AF heard This, they probably refused on the basis that Wayne Coen was too mean to them.....

I heard from a guy who heard from a guy who said that AF were on the Squatch lineup right up until about 48 hours before the announcement, but then LiveNation did something that pissed them off and Arcade Fire gave 'em a big ol' FUCK YOU. Do you think this is why Friday hasn't been completely booked? I was thinking that MM or DCFC were supposed to play on Friday as a Subheadliner but because of the AF thing, They put them as a headliner on a separate day. DFA1979-MM-Foo Fighters would have been pretty sweet. Ahh. Conspiracy theories.
