i'm a big fan of doom.. but he notoriously cancels/doesn't show up/sends an imposter/lip syncs/raps over vocal tracks/etc. it's not even worth buying tickets to see him if he's performing in your town, let alone booking him for a high profile festival
just be happy listening to the records i say..

For the sake of discussion -- and please, make disparaging comments about as many of these as you like -- here are some of the bands I'd like to see at Sasquatch 2011. Bear in Heaven Sleigh Bells Black Dice Cake The Books Clem Snide Fiery Furnaces Das Racist Fuck Buttons Major Lazer Menomena Philistines, Jr. The Morning Benders Snowglobe Mice Parade DOOM Alexis Gideon i agree a few of those groups will be there for sure.. if by doom you mean mf doom.. i sure hope they wouldn't be dumb enough to book him

being depressed is awesome dude.. i don't want to see a bunch of happy-go-lucky rockers
and i wasn't entirely joking.. i'd love for those bands to play. i'd just wager the chances of fugazi especially playing the gorge is like negative 4%

if they're really going to go all out with the headliners next year like folks are suggesting they should just go ahead and get the smiths to reuinte

definitely one of my fave performances of the weekend. they sound great live & yoni is a dancer
almost all of their set was from alopecia. i don't remember their entire setlist.. but i know they played these songs:
- the vowels pt. 2 - these few presidents - the hollows - song of the sad assasin - fatalist palmistry
pretty sure they also did.. - good friday - a sky for shoeing horses under - by torpedo or crohn's
but my memory isn't perfect.

This will be my last post on the sasquatch forum since it is now complete, but I feel I need to defend Pavement to the folks who seem to just not understand the lost essence of early nineties indie rock. Pavement is an INDIE rock show. The reason they messed up on a song was because the bass guitar was experiencing errors. That IS the essence of indie rock: cheap instruments, a playful deconstruction of grunge rock music, goofy, slacker attitudes towards rock music and the crowd in general (e.g. Malkmus), and so on. The movement was designed to deconstruct, give satire to, and so forth, everything that is supposedly "rock" or "alternative" (has anyone even ever heard Modest Mouses' early music? or Guided By Voices?). This is what the so-called "indie" bands at Sasquatch this year (e.g. Vampire Weekend, which was the worst and most boring show of the entire weekend) were missing. There is nothing subversive about Vampire Weekend or MGMT. They are not Indie Rock. Pavement is subversive. Quasi was subversive this year at the fest (for the lucky few who were able to see them). Ween is subversive. Understand the roots of indie rock before deriding Pavement's show. LOL

i also thought deadmau5 was pretty shitty.. i was in the very front row & left after 30 mins all it did was confirm i'm not a fan of his.. so there's no point in me trying to argue/justify it. of all the dance acts there, z-trip & a-trak are infinitely better djs & played the best sets imo (didn't watch simian). i also think smaller venues are much better suited for djs tho.
and kid cudi i also thought was only decent. the fact that he rapped over the vocal track of whatever his new single is was pretty embarrassing.. even if his size large youth anthrax tee was hella fashionable

3) The New Pornographers- I don't know if anyone had more fun on stage than The New Pornographers did on Monday night. I was syked to close out my weekend with these guys. They were funny as shit and played all their classics. I read that at Primavera they played without Dan Bejar or Neko Case. We were blessed to have the whole crew kicking ass at Sasquatch. I also really enjoyed the MGMT jokes. fffuuuuuuuuccck. that was the one time on the weekend i decided to give into group mentality & party with my friends instead of seeing the acts i wanted to regardless for some reason i didn't expect bejar to be there & he's by far my fave of the group. if only i had known.. i don't really have many regrets tho.. kids was one of the hypest song performances of the event, even if i found mgmt fairly greenhorned performers overall

yea.. i was a bit taken aback by all the litter. i thought we lived in one of the corners of the world were people actually care about that kind of stuff much respect to canada as well! surprisingly at least half (or more) of the random people we ended up partying with were fellow canadians

i thought the bigfoot stage was the worst out of the three stages as far as layout/sound was concerned. the rest of the stages were good & i had no problem with the sound for ween.. but i was up in the first few rows for the second half of the show
the fact that the sound kept cutting out during public enemy was a huge letdown. couldn't even hear half of what i watched.. we just left for massive attack
