Alright, so... these old 97's guys seem alright... Wait, can you imagine a band named Bundt Punter winning a grammy? Ah, man, that would be the best. I can just see the Twitter feed now...Arcade Fire got ripped off by some dumb band named Bundt Punter...and the blogosphere would erupt.

I've always thought C*nt Punter was a good name for a band. They can be on the Punt the Nation Tour with the Puntable Kind...they'll take turns closing down the main stage.

The Puntable Kind ...that has a nice ring to it. This sounds like a great name for a British punk band.

Texas hmmm? Do you like cats? Actually, I'm originally a Texan and I'm absolutely crazy for cats. I talk to them more than I do my family, most times!

Reading the lineup poster and coming across the Old 97's, especially so far up in the bill, was my "Holy Shit!" moment for the festival (well, after seeing Soft Bulletin, of course...).
Stamper, just out of curiosity, which albums/songs have you heard? They've shifted styles a few times over the years and I wonder which iteration you've come into contact with.

I know that their name has come up a time or two on the board, but I was curious to know if anyone else is as excited to see the Old 97's at the Gorge as I am? Wreck Your Life and Fight Songs have both been on heavy rotation for me since they first came out and I remember their last live show as being somewhere between a bar-room brawl and a tent revival. I can only imagine what this will look like ed through the supreme awesomeness of the Sasquatch lens!

Back in my day you had to walk barefoot in the snow uphill both ways to get tickets and you liked it. I actually liked it. This gave me a good laugh.

There was a big dust-up about it when Springsteen toured a couple years ago; Ticketassmaster itself listed tickets to several shows on that tour on StubHub that hadn't even been sold yet. That's so fucking shady. And then against all reason, at the beginning of 2010 the Justice Department approved the merger between Ticketmaster and LiveNation. Now think about this: why would Coachella AND Sasquatch both sell out in one week? Just based on ticket sales to these festivals in ALL previous years, how is that even possible? Put the two pieces together: Ticketmaster buying up its own tickets and selling them at scalper prices. A merger occurring roughly a year ago, with roughly a year to plan the assault on the following year's music festival seaon. There's still ticket limits on these things; how many fucking scalpers are there? Enough to buy 60,000 Coachella tickets? Fuck, of course not. THOSE TICKETS WERE NEVER EVEN ON THE MARKET. TICKETMASTER STILL HAS THEM AND IS SELLING THEM SECOND MARKET.[/i][/u][/quote] I seem to recall a TicketMaster exec being quoted as saying that all tickets should be sold on an auction-style system. The idea being, of course, that the most hardcore fans will gladly shell out for the seats that they really want. And this is progress, of course, because having more cash certainly denotes a greater level of dedication than merely sitting in a line for days. TicketMaster is like a daycare run by someone who loathes children.

I still firmly believe that TicketBastard and LiveNation have been in cahoots for years. I remember how much fun it used to be to wait outside a box office overnight to get first shot at tickets that next 10AM. Nowadays, if they even still allowed people to line up (don't think they do), only the first four or five would even have half a shot at it. Between that and Interwebs only sales, concert-going just isn't quite what it used to be.

Gibbons, you don't know me too well but I'm particularly disappointed in you. I'm currently doing the Wayne's World bow, Gibbons.

Here's where it gets fun, though: Ticketmaster also owns Ticketweb (a supposedly "indie" ticketing company). Couple this with the new "auction" feature and LiveNation begins to look like Mother Teresa. The auction is neat because now, TicketMaster doesn't even have to put their good seats up for sale during the onsale. They just let people bid on the seats that used to be available for all. Thus, a ticket with a face value of $60 goes for $300 instantly, especially since people get locked into that old auction-mentality. What a wonderful world, eh?

What's particularly fantastic is that people think there's a need to rig the Grammys. Isn't that like rigging a Little League game?

Sasquatch is the Beowulf of festivals. This seems particularly sig worthy.

Sasquatch this year is going to be like 'Lawrence of Arabia'! This was actually my intended usage. When you see me appear over the horizon, as the music swells, you will understand. It will also help that I'm a dead ringer for Peter O'Toole.

The TicketBastard "auction" system is like getting mugged at gun-point and then getting beaten by the police when you report the crime. I'm sure that this is the evil multinational corporation referenced in "The Omen."

This is what I was thinking. This way, Friday gets to be the epic prologue leading into the rest of the weekend.

Aww...yooz guys. Longtime lurker, although I think that I might have posted here in 2009. I've always enjoyed reading through the board and thought, hey, why not speak up?

I give my dad credit for that one, huge Zappa fan. Does that make Zappa 'Dad Rock', drew? This made me envision Grohl and company ripping through "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow."

Was that a ridiculous guess? I thought I heard that once. And I know HG loves Zappa. No, I actually thought it was the correct guess, to be honest. We were both deducing along the same lines.
