Wow, Lollapalooza is going to be crazy this year. Rage Against the Machine and Radiohead at the same festival! I went the last two years, but I'm not going this year because of Sasquatch and Pemberton.
I've been to the Gorge for another festival before and I think I had to purchase both a parking pass AND a camping pass. I bought the 3 day camping pass for Sasquatch, and I know you can park at the site, so would I still need to purchase parking for the day(s)? We're only bringing the one car...
No. Once you have your 3 day pass, you're set for the entire weekend.
I think adding the Comedy tent this year is pretty sweet. I hope they add some "big" names to lineup. David Cross, Dane Cook, Chris Rock, or Russel Peters would be cool.
In my personal opinion, I think The Flight of the Conchords should headline the comedy tent, rather than being on the music stage. Thay way, it will free up a spot for a potential band. Just my two cents.
I'm a HUGE mars volta fan and even I must say that they are terrible live. Their show is just one big jam session, with no structure or flow. Too bad, they could be really good live if they knew how to play for the audience and NOT for themselves on stage.
The Flaming Lips (Lolla 06) - so much fun, and their music is cool to! Death Cab For Cutie - They are my all time favorite band, so I can't diss them. The New Pornographers - They're great only when Neko Case and Dan Bejar are on stage with them. M.I.A. - Didn't actually see her, but I heard her set while waiting for the Rapture to come on. It was tight. Tegan and Sara - Great show, they're so fucking funny!
Modest Mouse - I hate to say it, I love them to death, but they are just terrible live. I've seen them 3 times and was not impressed. The Mars Volta - Another band I love, but they need to learn to play for their fans and not for themselves during their live shows.
Bands I can't wait to see:
65daysofstatic battles the breeders the hives the cure r.e.m. flight of the conchords
London- I'm giving you props for 'finding' the blow last year. To be honest, I never would have thought Modest would be on the festival circuit like they are now when I was listening to them 10+ years ago. And I still love it when they play an old song like broke live...
But listening to this thread I have no clue who the spree?? are
and I think of myself as pretty musically adapt
enjoy the fest!
Broke is a GREAT song. Building Nothing Out of Something is my all time MM favorite album.

I'm going to both, but I think Sasquatch overall is a better festival. It has just the right amount of mainstream and indie bands. I think Sasquatch is more geared toward the indie crowd. As for Pemberton, it's only strength is in its headliners.
Both festivals are in a great location! What are your thoughts ?
