I made ribs today, slow cooked them for 5 hours, made my own BBQ sauce and mustard sauce. Just before taking the ribs off I turned up the BBQ to grill off some zucchini and I forgot to take the fucking ribs off. CHARRED the bottoms. They were salvageable, but still, rookie mistake. Too many fucking beers I suppose.

The Velvet Underground Hüsker Dü Fugazi Husker Du are amazing. You should definitely check them out. Bob Mould has one of the greatest voices in modern music.

I would never ever ruin a good quality steak with a sauce of any kind, peppercorn, steak sauce or otherwise. Salt, pepper, a white hot grill and a smash of butter.
The only meat that is deserving of an HP style sauce is grilled bratwurst.

Stones vs. Beatles = THE ROLLING FUCKING STONES!
The Beatles are great but The Stones hold the rock n' roll gauntlet for me.

I do too, although I couldn't identify a single Smiths song. I hate them on principle. Elvis/Beatles Ween/Sonic Youth Smiths/Cure ...you're one kind of dude or you're the other. Never really thought about any of these bands in this fashion before, but I get where you're coming from. I like Sonic Youth and Ween about the same though. For me when it comes to those two bands, when they're good they're great, but when they're off...NO THANKS.

I love Pierced Arrows and they killed live. Their drummer was absolutely repulsive looking though. Just a sweaty fucking mess by the end of the show.

Sorry 'nater but I left before you responded. Hope you enjoyed the night.
Holy shit was Jeff Mangum unreal. One of the most powerful solo performances I have ever seen. "Naomi" was amazing, but I was deeply saddened by the fact that "Two Headed Boy" was missing from the setlist. Part Two was done so that was good enough I suppose. The crowd was fantastic for him and everyone (except for the thousand's that vacated after the first song) were appreciative of getting the opportunity to see this legend play live. I still can't believe that the Calgary Folk Fest nabbed him. What a great night.
Dan Mangan also announced that he will be playing in Calgary at the end of November with The Rural Alberta Advantage. Now that is a tour not to be missed.

Pretty sure 'Nater is already over there in some kind of volunteer capacity. Will this be the first encounter of blacksmile in the real world? Now that Alex has been verified, blacksmile is the most elusive person on the board. Can't fucking believe we didn't find you at Sasquatch this year. Like I said before HG, I tried for the Yellow Ostrich meetup but got stuck in the clusterfuck lineup. I kept an eye out for any signs of board life, but not knowing what you looked like it was hard to distinguish. Next time my friend, next time.

Yeah Womp, Nater, FD and I saw Blacksmile at Sled Island. It wasn't for very long, but he is super cool. Haha. Thanks for the endorsement Souly. As brief as it was, I enjoyed every second of of our meet up. I heard from Womp and unfortunately he will not be in attendance tonight. Good for 'nater if she's volunteering. I was down there earlier today staking out my spot and I heard one of the volunteers say he was off at 4:30pm. Sounds like a hell of a way to get in for free and see a bunch of bands late in the day.

Last night I saw The Barr Brothers, Charles Bradley, Reuben and the Dark, and Beirut. Tonight I've got Dan Mangan and Jeff Mangum, and who knows what else. Hey nater, are you heading down for Dan and Jeff tonight? Let me knowa and maybe we can hook up. Mrs. Smile and I should be down there around 7 or so.

Dude, blacksmile, you consistently remind me of bands whose existence I have completely forgotten about, and I love you for it. Glad to be of service.

Got my vinyl re-issue of Sugar's Copper Blue and Beaster in the mail today. Great packaging and both sound beautifully fresh. Copper Blue is one of my favourite albums of all time. The package also came with a bonus live show from The Metro in '92 and it is sweet as fuck as well.
Also picked up The Gaslight Anthem. One listen in and it sounds pretty good. Better than American Slang anyways
