Hey, I wish my friend would tell me the whole lineup, but he won't. Figured a bit was better than nothing. Honest question, though, know ID yuh — if somebody just posted the whole lineup now, would that ruin the experience, too? Or would you consider that a positive thing?

Alright friend saw the lineup early again this year. Again won't tell me everything, but he has some sad news. The lineup he saw has no Arcade Fire.
He'll only do hints again. He didn't see a ranked list, but he said he could pretty easily guess which are the headliners. All three headliners, he says, are bands that have been at Sasquatch before. Two of them were there in 2008. Two were there in 2005.
So there you go.

couple adds: music artist: Martine Topley Bird - Sunday Comedy: Hannibal Burress - Monday looks that that fills all open spots except for one comedy on saturday and on mainstage act on monday. This also definitely means Topley Bird is touring with Massive Attack, which is good news.

I look at it like this. With no credentials, names, etc., nobody will believe you until you prove that you're a credible source. This isn't a shot at you, it's just how the world works. I could send in hundreds of tips to CoS saying that I spoke to the lead singer of Band X about headlining Sasquatch, but unless they can trust that the info is accurate they won't print it. Same thing here. Nobody's giving you shit, but at the same time you can't expect people to take your word as gospel just because you say you've got a source. Like I say, I'm not expecting anybody to trust me or believe me. But I can't just keep apologizing. And I still don't get how nobody else thinks it's weird that a number of posters decided to only believe the hints my source gave and not the concrete facts. It just doesn't make much sense to only pick and choose from a particular rumor-monger's info, don't you think? If he's right about the hints, he's probably definitely right about the facts. But whatever. Believe what you want I suppose. It's just a little weird.

Hate to burst the bubble yet again, but my source explicitly stated Arcade Fire ain't on the bill and that Pavement is not headlining. Don't talk about bubble-bursting until the official lineup is out and you have transitioned from "random dude with a posting history in the single digits talking about his mysteriously connected friend" to "credible source to whom we can look for information in the future." I feel like I've made the big time with insterstateeight responding! I don't give a shit if any of you believe any of what I say, but it's nuts to take "unproven" and "not US" from my post and act as if that's fact but not take my concrete confirmations (no Arcade Fire and Pavement not headlining), too. If you're going to pick and chose what to believe, why not at least take the things my source was willing to be explicit about instead of his abstract and hard-to-define hints? I already apologized for not having more information or more evidence so if you feel the need to criticize my willingness to not fuck over a friend just for props from a message board community, refer to that. I'm not in the business of sidetracking threads, so I'll include one more hint that my source gave me that makes no sense to me. I fear he might just be pulling my leg with this one. But, hell, why not. "Those looking forward to the band Pavement leads into probably won't want Sunday to come slow." Is that even a hint? Maybe that Pavement is on Sunday not Monday...

Im betting on the Non Us being Arcade Fire. Good point, I forget they're Canadian sometimes. And Pavement is a non proven headliner, I'd say. Hate to burst the bubble yet again, but my source explicitly stated Arcade Fire ain't on the bill and that Pavement is not headlining.

So I know this is going to sound stupid, but keep in mind that if I were lying, why would I wait until now to stir up false rumors? Seems stupid to me. Nonetheless, I have no hard evidence for my claims, so believe what you will.
I just spoke with a source I trust very much who claimed to have seen the lineup. I begged and begged, but he refused to even name the headliners. The only band he confirmed positively was The New Pornographers. They're Monday.
He also was willing to confirm that Phoenix, The Arcade Fire, and Soundgarden were all NOT on the lineup he saw, that Pavement was not, in the way he saw the lineup presented, headlining, and that all three headliners were, as he put it, "unexpected." He warned, however, that they are unexpected partly because they're KOL-style unproven headliners. That signals to me no Jack Johnson and no Pearl Jam (of course). He gave one last hint: the headliner Pavement leads into is not a US band.
Sorry I don't have anything more than that, and sorry I don't have evidence of any sort.

I'm also iffy on Phoenix. Few bands do every major American festival in one summer, and Phoenix is confirmed for Lolla, Bonnaroo, and Coachella already. This sucks, as Phoenix has a terrific live act. Like how Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, and Animal Collective were EVERYWHERE last year? There's certain bands that play every festival because it covers a bulk of touring or helps end touring before they head back to the studio. All three of those examples are American bands, so naturally they'd do American festivals. Phoenix is a French band doing a few foreign festivals, too. My problem isn't that bands don't do all the festivals, it's that foreign bands rarely spend their entire summer in the US just for festival gigs and US tours. And while The Arcade Fire's booking agent may be listing avails for the purpose of club bookings, I'm more concerned with what the agent ends up indicating by listing that date range than with what the agent means to indicate. My thought is that they're still working in the studio, and plan to be there beyond that original early-summer deadline they'd set for themselves. There's still a chance, I agree, but it's much slimmer than it appeared to be a few months ago.

How possible is The Arcade Fire? They put on an incredible show in 07. Could be a possible headliner (similar to The Flaming Lips in persona). I'd rather they be a subheadliner but the days of Bjork and Beastie Boys headlining may be temporarily behind us with the economy where it is. I really wish my thesis on this didn't get deleted along with the rest of the pre-crisis Headliners thread... In short, if the information from January is still true (album in early Summer, doing festivals first) then it is now guaranteed that the Arcade Fire headline Sasquatch this year on the grounds that the next suitable festivals are in August. This was noted in the old headliners thread, too, but the information from January is no longer true. According to the band's booking agent ( billions.com/thearcadefire), they're available August to September, not early Summer. I'm not getting my hopes up too much. I'm also iffy on Phoenix. Few bands do every major American festival in one summer, and Phoenix is confirmed for Lolla, Bonnaroo, and Coachella already. This sucks, as Phoenix has a terrific live act.

Hey, anybody know if they let you bring in coolers, assuming they search them and there's nothing they don't allow in them?
It'd be nice to have cool water all day.
