Haha, no I’m definitely not a groupie of EmptyFox’s. Although I guess my name could make it look that way.

My girlfriends and I did this last year. We're Canadian and each bought a carton of CANADIAN cigs. They sold in no time. Canadians generally hate American cigs. So they were in high demand.

BC Telus was the same last year. Our phones were useless. Make sure they remain OFF. Don't count on being able to text msg. If they do work, there is a major delay. The day after I got home from Sasq last year, I got a FLOOD of text msgs.

If you don't have sushi at least once while you're in town you're crazy. It's damn good and damn cheap. Hard to walk a city block with out passing by a sushi restaurant, too. I had this exact discussion with a person at work today visiting from Edmonton. To say the least - they weren't disappointed.

Didn't really stop last year except for supplies and booze. Convoyed with about 20 other people, so a few stops were necessary along the way to group everyone back up again. Nowhere special though. We did all meet up at the Columbia River before heading into the gorge though and spent a few hours drinking beers and soaking up some sun before heading through the gates.
This year the convoy is smaller... maybe we'll have a chance to check a few places out.
Great idea for a thread. I'll be keeping tabs on this one.

Yup, these are all great suggestions. You might want to hit up Commercial Drive as well. Great people, GREAT pubs/bars, and you can always find what you're looking for there. Anytime of day.

Well, your comment just makes me want to check them out now! That didn't help at all. Yeah...dickheaded on my part. Sorry about that! Both are great live but as stated before, The Hold Steady rip it up as a bar band whereas The National might be more suitable for the festival. The National's music fits the atmoshpere of The Gorge so well and will be an epic part of the weekend. They blew me away when they played the Yeti stage in 2008. Alright, Checked em out. You can find me at The National.

The Hold Steady is a great band. They have a good live show. I absolutely recommend that you listen to The Hold Steady, but wait until after the festival. The National is one of the ten best bands currently recording and touring. I feel confident saying that. Do not miss them. This is one of the BIGGEST conflicts. I've seen The Hold Steady twice and The National once and I figured I would watch 45 minutes of The National and then book it up to The Hold Steady...but it's so fucking hard to make a decision now, since the new National is amazing. Interstateeight is right though in advising not to listen to The Hold Steady until after the festival...otherwise you will be in the same conflict boat as some of us are. BUT DEFINATLY LISTEN TO THEM AT SOME POINT. Well, your comment just makes me want to check them out now! That didn't help at all.

They're no good live??? That's really disapointing to hear! Agreed though - I'm not that into the new New Pornos album either. But I'd love to see Neko... and their old stuff is good. Which I'm sure they'll play lots old. I'm def more partial to the new MGMT album.... bahhh.... what to do, what to do!

SAT - EDWARD SHARPE W. MAG ZEROES VS. OK GO
SUN - ALL GOOD
MON - CAMERA OBSCURA (Love Love Love) VS. BAND OF HORSES (MEH but should go) <-- Two bands I'll prolly never see again MGMT VS NEW PORNOS (Neko Case is touring with them again! J'adore )
I haven't heard Hold Steady - this seems to be quite the conflict with the National for most people. (Do I dare check them out before the fest and create another conflict?)
