Old people won't ruin it, the crap headliners will ruin it. Don't blame old folks for the fact that Goldenvoice's booking skillz are seriously lacking.
That said, the undercard is pretty nice, but full of the same bands that have been on the festival circuit for a while now.
I have to say that's something I've always liked about Sasquatch; they book so many local bands that you don't get to see very often if you don't live in the Pacific Northwest. Sasquatch has a definite flavor; Coachella feels kind of generic, IMO.

Which three bands make you buy a plane ticket, pack up the car, or otherwise arrange to be at the Gorge on Memorial Day weekend?
Be reasonable, no Zeppelin reunions or anything like that. Think more along the lines of the absolute minimum it would take to get you there...not 3 huge no-brainer awesome headliners, but 3 smaller bands, or 2 smaller bands and a headliner. Three bands that would make the decision for you, even if the rest of the lineup absolutely sucked.
I'll start:
Pearl Jam Band of Horses A.C. Newman

No offense, but hearing people throw around names like 311, Pepper, No Doubt, and Guns n' Roses scares the living bejesus out of me. I'm not sure if I'm alone on this, but past bands like these (ex. Ozomotli) seem to bring a lot of people that only go to see one band, and attempt to make the festival a hell-hole for the rest of us. Shhh, they'll hear you I would love, love LOVE to see King Khan there, in any permutation. Talk about a party!

Last year the music was great, but organizationally the festival was a complete and utter disaster. Yipes, really? What happened?

Ugh, seriously. Why is the beer so expensive there? And not very good, either...though Molson will do in a pinch.

I guess everyone on here must be from seattle or washington because I don't see any other way these people could get stoked on Pear Jam? . In bluesborn defense, going out on limb here but Everyone on this board is in the NW, and Montana while not in the NW, has PJ ties and for that they are huge there also. Not a big PJ fan, but I'd watch them live and they would sell the tickets, they make sense as a headliner. And as a fan of KoL, this would be a down year if they headline. Not everyone on this board is from the NW. This will be my third Sasquatch, and I'm from Chicago; I've attended with friends from Minnesota, Maryland, Texas, and California in past years. And I think nearly all of us would have supported a PJ headliner. I don't think it has that much to do with geography; PJ don't have any historical ties to Boston/NYC, but they have a huge fanbase there and play there all the time. I agree that a KoL headliner would be hella disappointing. I wish Arcade Fire was coming out with a new album... Pretty sure they are. I wouldn't be surprised to see them on the lineup this year.

Fleetwood Mac are touring around the area in may and have a day open on the 25th.... assuming the festival is thre days again do you think that could be a possability? would people want them to play sasquatch? While I don't think they are the best fit for Sasquatch musically speaking, I kind of wouldn't mind seeing them. They're a band I think I should probably see before they die or break up, but I wouldn't want to shell out a ton of money just to see them. Voila, perfect festival headliner!

And is there a precedent to Sonic Youth playing a US festival? Sure, they played Pitchfork in '07.

please don't flame... legit question: what's the beef with No Doubt? I personally think they'd be a lot of fun... as long as gwen doesn't do any of her "current" material... No Doubt's sound was dated the minute their albums were recorded. It's an outdoor music festival in the Pacific Northwest in 2009, not a teen movie in southern California in the late 90's. Their popular songs are running through my mind now and none are any good. I could name about forty better bands who would fit the general atmosphere and sound more naturally and successfully in less time than it would take anyone to give a single compelling reason for this band's reunion and continued existence. I think I love interstateeight. I have too much faith in Sasquatch than to believe that they would allow such a crap band to headline their festival.

Huh, weird. Where were they advertised? The only thing I remember hearing about happening late-night was Christmas on Mars last year. I didn't stick around to see if it actually happened or not.

They did, yeah...I caught one in Honolulu. Good stuff.
I could stomach KoL if they were leading into PJ, I guess...

The last two years there has been a band that played late. Last year it was Ozomatli and the year before it was the Polyphonic Spree, I think Verizon or somebody put it on. I don't remember this at all. Where/when did they play? It'd be cool if they did late-night sets. No reason for a curfew at the Gorge, IMO...it's not like you're gonna wake the neighbors!

I could see Neko Case doing the three (four?)-peat, especially since she has a record coming out.

The Avetts would be a sweet addition. I hope that rumor comes to fruition. And I'd love to see The Acorn. Just because they're playing in the UK earlier in May doesn't rule them out entirely, unless they're swimming back I could see Arcade Fire coming back as a headliner. If KoL plays, though, I just don't see them in a headlining spot.

My Morning Jacket-Always touring. They play a lot of festivals, yet have not been to Sasquatch in several years. 2009 is likely to be more of a writing year and less of a touring year for My Morning Jacket. After they get back from Australia & Japan, Jim will be working on Monsters of Folk stuff with M. Ward and Conor Oberst. www.courier-journal.com/article/20081228/SCENE04/812280317/1011/sceneI'm sure there will be a few one-off appearances in the States, but I think if they play a US festival it will be Bonnaroo, not Sasquatch.

All females love the Kings, especially "Your Sex is on Fire." I can't stand KoL.

Pearl Jam makes sense as a Sasquatch headliner. Tool, not so much. I just don't see them fitting in with the Sasquatch "brand".
I'd also like to see Beck, Wilco or MMJ as headliners.
As for the undercard, I think we can bet on Neko Case, Blitzen Trapper, and maybe the Henry Clay People. I'd adore seeing Beirut again, hoping for The Acorn, Plants and Animals, certainly Fleet Foxes, maybe Bon Iver if we're lucky...

Agreed. I saw her twice last year and she's just not my cup of tea.
MGMT are fun, but it's a very Spinal Tap kind of fun.

So who is the third headliner? Flaming Lips? Or do you think another headliner will be added?
