So Eugene, Oregon (my current city of residence) is jumping into the festival market this year with a three day festival in late August. Here's the phase 1 lineup. Mostly EDM type acts which isn't my genre really. Phase 2 to be revealed "in the next 48 hours". Is this a good lineup for this kind of music? I really have no idea. www.kaleidoscopemusicfestival.com/Phase II artists announced: Their website needs a lot of work, you can't even get this info there right now. I pulled this from their Facebook page. Mostly electronic music so far, but there's still a third headliner to be announced. It would probably take an indie rock band to make me want to go.

Favorites-
1. Primus 2. Lumineers 3. Macklemore 4. Imagine Dragons (had extremely low expectations and they blew them out of the water, great live band) 5. Dropkick Murphys 6. Elvis Costello 7. Red Fang 8. Divine Fits 9. Cake 10. Arctic Monkeys
Missed acts: Sigur Ros (decided to see Tame Impala instead), Mumford and Sons, Alt-J (GF and I were pretty well split versus Lumineers, decided to go with the belt sander), Vampire Weekend (decided not to run all the way over there before Macklemore)
Disappointments: Built to Spill- Doug's vocal performance was really listless in my opinion, like he wasn't even trying to hit the right notes. Instrumentation was fine though. Tame Impala- Two big issues here, one was the nearly 2 hour wait till their set started, and the second was that the stage was too crowded and we couldn't really see anything
Overall an AMAZING weekend, by far the best festival I've been to

Best festival I've ever been to. I've only been to like, 4, and it was my first Sasquatch. But this was the best one I've been to.

Bands become huge by appealing to the 18-25 year old girl demographic. What the 18-25 year old girls are listening to right now: Mumford and Sons, Lumineers and Macklemore. I'm 38 and I like Macklemore, and so do a lot of my friends between 20-40. He's got broad appeal.

Updated list
1. Primus 2. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis 3. Vampire Weekend (1/2 their set) 4. Tame Impala 5. Built to Spill 6. Dropkick Murphys 7. Elvis Costello 8. Red Fang 9. Arctic Monkeys 10. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Goes without saying at this point but this festival has a really strong lineup. There's an extra 5-6 bands I could make a case for swapping into the top 10.

FYF Fest lineup announcement next week.
I've been to this one the past two years because it's cheap to fly to LA from Eugene.
I'll probably go again this year if the lineup is good.

I keep hearing great things about Father John Misty's live performances and I kind of like the song or two I've heard by him, but he's sandwiched right between Built to Spill and Arctic Monkeys who are must-sees for me. I guess I can catch 20 minutes or so of his set if I want to rush around.
I haven't listened to Akron/Family at all because I want to see Nick Offerman, but from what I gather I think I'd like their stuff.

Once Sir Paul was confirmed I had to book Outside Lands. Hopefully this time I can catch the Growlers who I missed both times I went to FYF Fest due to conflicts.

So I wrote the Gorge today asking where Gold RV is located and they sent me the following: Looks like it's right outside the festival area, which is nice. Note that these spots are STILL AVAILABLE from here (I just checked to confirm): concerts.livenation.com/event/0F00495F8FCC2F89I was told you do not need an RV to camp in them (I sincerely hope you don't, since we aren't bringing one ... we just wanted these spots for the private bathrooms)

Something I noticed yesterday-
1. Gorge campsite says 9" and shorter lawn chairs allowed 2. Sasquatch flyer that came with the wristbands says lawn chairs NOT allowed
I guess lawn chairs are not allowed?

On the Guided by Voices message board where some inside info gets posted someone close to the band let it slip that they're playing a festival this fall. It could be this one. That's my theory anyway. Of all the major festivals that haven't already announced their lineups, this is about the only one that they didn't hit during their 2011 or 2012 tours.
