The ending of Kim's Caravan is my fucking jam. I realize we are now taking about her new album, not the one Badchoices posted about, but fuck you I do what I want.
Oh oops. I like Split Peas too, but it definitely felt like an EP sandwich and "Avant Gardener" was the big standout. I get the feeling that one is most people's gateway drug.
True. "She thinks I'm clever cuz I play guitar. I think she's clever cuz she stops people dying" is one of my all time favorite lines from any song ever. I knew at that moment I wanted to hear everything this women ever wrote.
Anyone who used the lockers last year: worth it or no? Fifty bucks is a lot to me, but having blanket at night without carrying it around all day would be the tits.
Best money I ever spent. Having everything I needed handy without having to carry a pack was great, but the "cellphone charging area" was a fucking oasis. I never used the chargers all weekend, but having a couch to sit and chill on for a minute while grabbing a snack from the locker was just what I needed to keep my old body going all weekend.
I figured I would get one of these posted to attempt to get the ball rolling. I decided to do an album from a Sasquatch 2015 artist. Courtney Barnett is not only my number one must see on the 2015 lineup but she was one of my most anticipated acts from the Julysquatch that never happened. Her new album is really good and I am still digesting it. Before that was the Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas. It has ten songs spanning over 46 minutes. Every one of these songs is great. Courtney is from Melbourne and her style of witty song writing and adorably lazy singing are made 10X more awesome with her accent. If anyone has seen me post on this board they know how much I love Helms Alee. There is no way in hell I would miss this Courtney Barnett set...even for Helms Alee.
The Double EP has some standout tracks despite them all being excellent. "Avant Gardner" hits home. While I was dealing with significant anxiety I felt this song was personal due to her having so much trouble breathing in...although I am a little better with smoking bongs than she is.
"Anonymous Club" makes me feel all romantic. My wife and I don't get sexy with it or anything but it is one that makes us think of each other.
It is easy to focus on the vocals and songwriting when it comes to Courtney Barnett but give her guitar skills respect, too. She can shred with the best of them. I finally found a reasonably priced copy of this album on Discogs and can't wait to add it to my vinyl collection. We had an emergency c-section on 3/20/15 and are lucky enough to welcome our daughter to the world without any complications despite being nearly a month premature. I have never been good at arts/crafts or keeping track of mementos. The "Baby Book" that we are supposed to be starting for our little girl has blank pages you are supposed to put things like first step, first word blah blah blah. I decided to include the first albums that she listened to and the very first one was Courtney Barnett - The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas. I love this album so much and if you haven't given it a chance you need to take it for a spin.
Agreed on every count. I only recently discovered her, but I am madly in love. The Australian accent and the sloppy left-handed finger strumming (I've never seen her use a pick in any of the live videos I've been obsessing over), and just her general no fucks given attitude do everything for me. Congrats on the daughter thing too.
anywayyyyyssssssss, looking over the schedule it looks like there is a lot of free time at the uranus stage. like pretty much everyday after 4 nothing is scheduled. Does this mean the possibility of a lot more small/local bands to be late additions or using this space for random surprise sets? Last year it seemed like there was something always going on at this stage.
If I remember correctly, that stage always seemed to shut down early. I think there were extra acts booked on it last year due to picking up the local acts from Julysquatch.
So it seems like we all have one big complaint about the schedule this is Run The Jewels' set not allowing you to get good spots at Kendrick Lamar. Is making a petition for Sasquatch too much? It would actually be so amazing to have Run The Jewels going into Kendrick on the main stage.
I signed your petition. I think it's a hell of an idea but a really good one. Do you think they'll actually do it if enough people sign?
No. It's a good thought, but this kind of thing means nothing to festival organizers. I'm gonna sign it anyway, though. It's kinda like voting for Ralph Nader; it means nothing, but it makes you feel a little better.

Thoughts on the schedule:
Helms Alee vs Courtney Barnett is a heartbreaker. I was really looking forward to Helms Alee, but I have fallen madly in love with Courtney Barnett recently and I'm afraid I can't miss her set. It looks like I'll pretty much be hanging out at the Yeti stage all day Saturday. A 75 minute Fuzz set would be so much better if the last 30 minutes didn't overlap with Father John Misty. Gonna have to play that one by ear, so to speak. The Districts completely covering Doug Benson sucks, but music trumps comedy every time. Sorry, Doug. No conflict for Tame Impala this year, assuming they don't end up on the Yeti stage at 11:00 again. I feel like RTJ and Ryan Adams should switch spots. I need time to get from their set to the main stage without missing any of Kendrick. Hopefully K-Dot lives up to his reputation and shows up 15 minutes or so late. The Kendrick/Hot Chip/Glitch Mob overlap sucks, but I should be able to at least catch the end of Glitch Mob in between all of Kendrick and most of Hot Chip. All in all, things could be a lot worse. Could be better, but I'll take it.
