I thought it was funny that The End leaked a poster missing two band just so they could get firsties. O well, thanks again for being there for us. It's not so much they leaked it, so much as that I (and anyone else who posted it) jacked it from a page where they're having a contest to win tix. They're probably not getting a new poster for ages, so that's the one that'd be up there regardless of who got firsties.

Old 97s opened for...fuck, was it Sheryl Crowe? Two years ago at Bumershoot, so even back then they were getting some serious consideration

that first day might just be a few bands Like one of the early years when they first tried three days. Only afternoon/evening shows. I could see Wilco doubling up with MM or Flaming Lips. I could sort of see MM going on right before DCFC too, but I dunno. Of course, DCFC is opening for the Foos in England, so that's on the table too I suppose.

i will say this, last year's subs would easily have been more 'headliner worthy' than this year's group. but i'm still okay with that. Is there any ONE band that i'm absolutely geeked-out over? - not really... but there are still a TON of solid bands i'm looking forward to seeing. Sorry, I don't agree. some of those "subs" would have trouble headlining bumbershoot, which both MM and DCFC have done in the past. Flaming Lips have headlined the festival in the past - I wouldn't be surprised if those were the four they went with (obviously adding Foo fighters). And I'm sorry you guys haven't seen MM actually cut loose - I've seen them a half dozen times, and I totally get why people would think they were a "studio band" based on some of those performances. But when they're on, holy crap are they awesome. DCFC are totally a studio band, no matter how long they stretch out We Looked Like Giants

My guess, they had the posters, and DFA and TPC were recent signs (why DFA is recent and MSTRKRFT not, who knows). If Bryce (the end) knew both DFA and MSTRKRFT were playing he'd have said so in that interview he posted yesterday (linked in the other thread somewhere in the late 40s). The press release things were probably handed out tonight. Whereas the end has had that page put together for a couple days now. At the bottom of that interview, it specifically said that he was not allowed to ask about DFA 1979. You're right, I missed it cuz I was excited to post the interview. In retrospect that should have been a glaring sign that something was up with them

I suspect that given the posters are probably printed or being printed, or at least took some layout work, and the press release is just band names in a mass-produced list, the press release is more current. Since it's so easily updatable there's no reason to have old bands on it, and it's a cinch to add new ones. That was my initial thought. But how long have Mitchell Black and the dude from The End had their press sheets? The guy from The End said he had the lineup a few days ago. Plenty of time to add them to the poster before the official release party. I'm hoping it was just an oversight. My guess, they had the posters, and DFA and TPC were recent signs (why DFA is recent and MSTRKRFT not, who knows). Is this the guy people think is Bryce from the End? Nope, an anonymous poster. ALright. Cheers, haven't been on much prior to last night so I'm woefully out of date on this stuff.

So best-case scenario - they added sort of late and didn't make it on the poster, but made it in the press stuff? Worst case, they were removed after the press stuff went out. I suspect that given the posters are probably printed or being printed, or at least took some layout work, and the press release is just band names in a mass-produced list, the press release is more current. I'm curious, how was Arcade Fire confirmed out (aside from the obvious "NOT ON THE LINEUP POSTER, DUHR")? Dude who knew shit in advance last year said so. Wasn't official but made sense. Is this the guy people think is Bryce from the End?

The end just tweeted a confirmation of DFA1979 (they also had them on press materials).
Of course, the tweets are coming from Bryce, the same guy who did the interview with MSTRKRFT, so I'm a bit surprised he didn't post that to begin with?

Black Keys just did a show in October and another in December, are people really that surprised they're not coming back again already?

soooo that arcade fire rumor was just a crock of shit, then? That makes me sad, but I'd much rather see them do another just them show instead. You know DCFC and Modest Mouse will pepper the PNW with shows over the next year/year and ahalf. Arcade Fire, not so much

Subheads of past years as this years headliners. Embarrassing. Yeah, it's like they think those bands are bigger and more important or something now.
