Walking around Rifflandia yesterday and having a girl walk up to me, look me right in the eyes, and say "it's not you". Only to have the same girl walk up to me 5 minute later hollering "Darth, yay"... ladies and gentlemen, I have finally met drunk Weenie. Hahahaa! That was fun Weenie, see you again later today! YOU TOO SOULY!
Deerhunter was incredible last week! LOUD! Ambient smoke and light show wonderfully done and the crowd was really into it (which is an issue for this city, seriously just a bunch of head bobbers around here). Best $20 I've spent on live music in a long time. Next up- Rifflandia!
I know for sure what I'll be doing Thursday night! Hopefully after Mr. Murphy I'll have enough time to run up to catch some Braids as well.
Friday/Saturday nights are going to be a little more crazy thought, 'cause that is a LOT of bands in a LOT of different places. The Orb at Market Square is going to be amazing!
Daytime is looking pretty darn swell, although strangely enough it's looking like there's slight overlap between stages? I really don't think the park is big enough for that to work!
Any of you crazy kids still thinking of coming over for this? And Darth...the beer will be ours this time!
I'm all in for this one Weenie! My kids are visiting their mom that weekend so things may get sloppy for a night or two.
I'm stoked for Braids Thursday! I am going to see Danny Brown and Action Bronson on Friday which means I might skip most(or all)of Courtney Love to make sure I get in. I'm not worried about missing that train wreck. The last time I saw her was in 1993 (maybe 94) and she was touring with Hole, Bikini Kill and The Breeders... anyways, a couple songs into the Bikini Kill set Love walked out on stage and punched the lead singer in the face, Kim Deal came out to break it up, haha.
Anyways, lets have Park beers one sunny afternoon!
Just read an article in Spin magazine about The National making a Grateful Dead tribute album.
"According to Relix, the band got approval from the surviving members of the Dead — happy belated birthday to the sadly deceased Jerry Garcia — and guests will most likely include members of Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend, the Walkmen, the War on Drugs, and Kurt Vile & the Violators. The Dessners also hope that Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo and Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan, both huge Deadheads, will contribute."- Spin magazine
I am extremely happy about this. The National have talked about it for a couple years now. It is finally happening.
