Deerhunter was incredible last week! LOUD! Ambient smoke and light show wonderfully done and the crowd was really into it (which is an issue for this city, seriously just a bunch of head bobbers around here). Best $20 I've spent on live music in a long time. Next up- Rifflandia!
I know for sure what I'll be doing Thursday night! Hopefully after Mr. Murphy I'll have enough time to run up to catch some Braids as well.
Friday/Saturday nights are going to be a little more crazy thought, 'cause that is a LOT of bands in a LOT of different places. The Orb at Market Square is going to be amazing!
Daytime is looking pretty darn swell, although strangely enough it's looking like there's slight overlap between stages? I really don't think the park is big enough for that to work!
Any of you crazy kids still thinking of coming over for this? And Darth...the beer will be ours this time!
I'm all in for this one Weenie! My kids are visiting their mom that weekend so things may get sloppy for a night or two.
I'm stoked for Braids Thursday! I am going to see Danny Brown and Action Bronson on Friday which means I might skip most(or all)of Courtney Love to make sure I get in. I'm not worried about missing that train wreck. The last time I saw her was in 1993 (maybe 94) and she was touring with Hole, Bikini Kill and The Breeders... anyways, a couple songs into the Bikini Kill set Love walked out on stage and punched the lead singer in the face, Kim Deal came out to break it up, haha.
Anyways, lets have Park beers one sunny afternoon!
Just read an article in Spin magazine about The National making a Grateful Dead tribute album.
"According to Relix, the band got approval from the surviving members of the Dead — happy belated birthday to the sadly deceased Jerry Garcia — and guests will most likely include members of Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend, the Walkmen, the War on corn chips, and Kurt Vile & the Violators. The Dessners also hope that Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo and Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan, both huge Deadheads, will contribute."- Spin magazine
I am extremely happy about this. The National have talked about it for a couple years now. It is finally happening.
Back in the day you could buy tickets which would allow for DAT systems to plug right into the soundboard. I had the 72' VW and my touring bro had the system, it was a beautiful thing. After the shows he'd spend his time making copies for trade and I'd earn some $ by selling grilled cheese sandwiches which came with a sticker I made up which read "Make grilled cheese, not War!", hahaha.

I have well over 500 maxell cassette tapes all with live Grateful Dead recordings ( a few Phish too).I'm talking every Dead show I've ever seen plus all the shows I wish I could have. Cassettes will always ALWAYS win in my world. Buying a "recording section ticket" just to tape that night's show, trading a box of 10 tapes with the 5 most recent shows recorded on them for a ticket to the next night... Cassettes are the photo albums of my life (prior to becoming a dad).

Dear the internet, I hung out with some awesome lurkers tonight and it was NOT THAT BAD. Also, hi awesome lurkers/new best friends. Also, goddamn I am drunk and happy after such an awesome day of Mother Mother/Sam Roberts/surprisingly awesome Weezer/sunshine/Phillips beer/friends and way more organization than yesterday. Rock the Shores, you're alright.
(PS: I looked for you all day Darth! One day we will get that beer, I promise!)
Haha, no worries. We'll make that beer happen sometime. I thought I might have seen you Sunday because I caught a girl looking at me and she was wearing an inside out Sasquatch 2013 wristband. Probably not you I guess. Great day yesterday though! Reignwolf killed it and my kid crowd surfed for the first time during Awol Nation. All in all a good day. I met a couple female lurkers Weenie... Wonder if they were your peeps too?
A friend of mine just tweeted that the Phish show in Toronto has been postponed due to the recent rain storms. That sound you hear is thousands of soggy hacky sacks hitting the ground in a dejected thud.

Spent quite a few hours yesterday getting the lower section of my Japanese back suite worked on. Today I am horribly uncomfortable, should have tattooed one side at a time. Getting my entire ass and thighs tattooed in one sitting has left me with no comfortable way to sit and wishing I had a hemorrhoid pillow, haha.
