I've been waiting for something like this from Tobaxx for years. The duo first collaborated on his debut album. Malibu Ken drops January 18.

TRIPLE album? Holy fuck!
The "burned CDR" story sounds a bit like self-mythologizing, but it's Jónsi so who gives a fuck. Stoked to hear this.

The top three lines are trash with a couple exceptions but that midsection is damn impressive.

I had a pretty vivid, intense Sasquatch dream last night. Basically an entire first day of the festival. I started out with a couple friends watching Forest City Lovers play on the Bigfoot. For some reason it was dark outside, but their set was killer - they opened with “Orphans” which is my favorite song by them. The crowd was really into it. After that we ran over to a new building that had been added that had a food court and a small stage inside. I don’t remember who was playing but we didn’t stay long, because Khemmis was about to start on the Yeti. They only got one song in before a torrential downpour started, and even on stage they were up to their ankles in water. Courtney Barnett showed up with a couple of buckets to try to help clear the stage but it was too late, and their set ended. The rain stopped as we ran down to the main stage to catch The xx, who had already started. We saw “Basic Space”, “Vcr”, and their closer, “Intro.” Then we had to run back up to the food court stage to catch Zola Jesus, whose backing band was just a huge seal playing the drums. Alice Glass was the headliner, and we were able to make it all the way to the front row and dance our asses off while she screamed into the microphone. After a few songs from her solo work she began doing Crystal Castles stuff and the crowd began a “Fuck Ethan Kath” chant that was particularly inspiring. I woke up after that and I thought I would feel sad, but mostly I’m a kind of bittersweet content that even months after finding out it was over for good, Sasquatch magic can still find us in the unlikeliest of ways. There was also a pretty lengthy subplot where one of my bartenders made me do my homework between sets or security would kick me out, but I excised that in order to streamline the thing. This checks all my Sasquatch dream boxes. Incoherent time, impossible geography, inclement weather event, and a perfect day of music designed for mostly just me. The only thing missing is crawling up the ridiculously too steep hill on my hands and knees, and getting ridiculously lost going back to my campsite and ending up in a circus tent. In all fairness, I did also cut out the part where I had to wade through the newly christened Sasquatch! Moat while following a friend of mine who swore there was a taco stand on the grounds. Also, did I ever post the dream where the entire campsite was a blanket fort a la Community? Because that one was also pretty intense and involved a lot of crawling.

What do you guys think of the likelihood of a new festival filling in the empty space of Memorial Day weekend at the Gorge in 2019, 2020 or 2199? No way LiveNation lets the Gorge stagnate. Odds are good something will take its place, but I’m not super optimistic that it’ll retain the Sasquatch mojo.

Despite the deluge of excellent albums spilling over in the final months of 2018, 2019 still beckons with open arms. January to be specific.

If the lineup's anything like this year, Desert Daze may end up being my destination festival next year, especially considering Day For Night bit the dust. Seriously regretting being unable to go last year to see the likes of Venetian Snares x Daniel Lanois, Demdike Stare, and Laurie Anderson.
