Heylo friends. Sorry to start a new thread but I couldn't find much on this topic.
This will be my first time to a music festival that is not located in the dead heat of summer. I was curious what the weather is like during this time of year and what you might recommend to wear during the festival (and at night).
Count me in! And I'm gonna try to snag a few extras in the sale for those who can't get their tix this Friday.
I'm completely expecting the fest to be a total clusterfuck since they couldn't even manage their line up announcement. Figure though, go in with low expectations and it can only get better from there, right?
THE BIGGER THE CLUSTER FUCK THE BIGGER THE GOLDBEARD MODE.
No idea how it will be this year. Camping on-site was killer the first time. Everything was all marked out in the field (spraypainted lines), there was a general store, huge water tanks for free water, and it was all within about a 5 minute walk of the venue.
The venue was good, but any time there was any wind it was a dust-storm. Hope for at least a little rain when you're there or bring a bandana to cover your mouth and nose.
Security was the big clusterfuck of the weekend, since they walked off early on. There was nobody checking wristbands anywhere but to get into the dance tent which was obscenely under-sized and the site of a small riot when they weren't letting people in for DFA1979 even though the tent was empty. I'm sure that will be different this time though.
Traffic I can't really speak to since we got there super early, but that part is pretty well documented elsewhere.
Parking/shuttle sucked. We parked at the railyard where they had shuttle buses take everybody (with their camping gear) to the site, but the busses were only coming every 45 minutes or so. So there we were, probably 1000 of us, sitting in 35+ degree (celsius) weather waiting for a bus to take maybe 30 at a time. It was brutal, and the worst part of the weekend for our group.
**EDIT** Forgot about the no-alcohol thing. They didn't really check any of the bags or anything due to the logistical nightmare they were having with transport. This year I can only assume they're not going to be crazy about it either. Last time, due to security walking off, people were just walking to town and coming back with their arms full of alcohol. They also sold it at the general store I believe, for an inflated price.
The biggest question is how I'm going to get so many Corn chips into Cananananananada.
