but if i have to drink twice as much... Bud is 5.0%, Miller Lite is like 3.5%, PBR - 5.0%. If you want strong cheap beer, stay away from Miller Lite and go for PBR or Bud. I just hate the taste of Bud. Most microbrews (which I highly recommend) will have the percentage on the bottle. They are generally 4.5% to 7.0%. I know beers are a little stronger in Canada, but are they really that much more than 5.0%?

Who? Broken Social Scene Where? Shepherd's Bush, London When? May 2008 Amazing show. BSS really brought the heat that night. They played for over 2 hours with two encores. Finally got to hear Pacific Theme live, which is my favorite BSS song (first song to be played at my wedding reception). For their first encore, I think it was the bassist who played along with some voice dialogue they had recorded. It was of a neighbor of one of the bandmates who had the ear surgery to finally make her hear. She described how the sensation of sound reverberated through her body and how it made her feel - which was amazing. The band member played along with the voice track which seemed very off the cuff and not rehearsed but it was an amazing live moment. I believe that would be Charles Spearin and the Happiness project you might be referring to. He plays with BSS sometimes, and that sounds a lot like a song on his record. Check it out if you get a chance. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Spearinen.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Happiness_ProjectThats exactly it. Thanks for the links. It was really moving stuff.

I'm actually frightened to get into bands I don't know until I see the schedule. If I discover a band and it conflicts with a band I already planned to see, that's just more pain for me. Ignorance is bliss. I hear you. I was just about to delve in deep with some Ween, but now I might not be staying for Monday, so I gotta stay away or I am going to be more pissed that I missed them. Thats why its great that Sasquatch comes out with their schedule 4 to 5 weeks early. Because you still have time to get into bands that are in your dead spots.

And Stone is a hell of a brewery, but I couldn't handle their Ruination all weekend long in the sun. Yeah, IPA's all weekend long would not work. You need the lighter stuff for the sunny times - Lagers, Pale Ales, etc. Thats where the Miller Lite cans come in for the win. Damn, I feel like cracking a Sessions Lager right now, but I would not be very productive the rest of the day.

Who? My Morning Jacket Where? Fox Theater, Atlanta, GA When? 2008
Great set at a beautiful place. They rocked out for about 2.5 hours. I would expect very similar situation for Sasquatch - at least a 2 hour set but maybe even 2.5 hours. Highly recommended venue if anyone gets the chance to see a show there, although the beer lines sucked that night.
Who? Public Enemy Where? Most recently at Vegoose When? Oct. 2007
Decent show, but they were a little treble-y. There was good energy for the show but it was disjointed. The wife seemed to get annoyed so we checked out Cypress Hill after awhile.
Who? Broken Social Scene Where? Shepherd's Bush, London When? May 2008
Amazing show. BSS really brought the heat that night. They played for over 2 hours with two encores. Who? Caribou Where? The Earl, Center Stage, and Drunken Unicorn in Atlanta When? Various times
Caribou never dissappoints in a live setting. I have invited friends to his shows everytime who never heard Caribou ever, and each time they walked away being a big fan and buying music at the show. Plus Dan Snaith is just a really nice guy. The live band really puts percussion at a premium. At times I have seen every member of the live band bang on the drums at the same time to really bring home the beat. Plus, there were really cool animations going on in the backdrop. Super excited to see Caribou on the main stage.
Who? Yacht Where? Oldtown Block Party, Portland When? Summer 2009
Yacht really has fun on stage, which translates to the crowd having a good time. The beats are bass heavy and its really just the two of them having fun on the mic, while the beats are playing. Not that evolved or involved, but fun nonetheless. I hope they are not conflicting with Pavement, but they most likely are so I will probably miss this set.

I hope it doesn't sell out soon, I can't buy my tickets for another month. That would really suck if it sold out before then. Already missed out on the 3-day passes and premier camping. If the whole festival sold out that would be a real fucking bummer!

nothing will compare to the dust at Pemberton. Ever camped at Coachella? [/quote] Try Bonnaroo. The dust in 2006 was so bad that my buddy had to leave due to a horrible sinus infection. People were walking around wearing SARS masks!

Can I pick up the microbrewery beer at any location or does it have to be from a specialty beer store? Coming from Canada so if someone can recommend something that would be cool. When I'm in the States I generally buy Rolling Rock since it's not available in Canada! I will still be bringing the old tried and true Alexander Keith's and Big Rock though! Any grocery store or liquor store in Washington is going to have good microbrews. Look into Dechutes, Rogue, Bridgeport, Full Sail. Those are all readily available in Oregon and Washington, and all are much better than Rolling Rock. Also, many microbrew beers are higher in alcohol content - from 4.5% to 7%, so even if you are paying a little bit more, you probably don't need to drink as many. Good beers, ftw!

Too many good beers out here in the PNW to not enjoy the good stufff.
But I get what your saying. I will definitely have some standby Miller Lites for those super hot hours.

This will be my first time at a festival where stages close super early and nothing (band-wise) is going on from night to morning. Done lots of Bonnaroo and Europe fests, the late nights were always the best and a s long as your able to take the monday or tuesday off you worry about rest then. Still looking forward to check out this view especially with MMJ, Massive Attack, Drive-By Truckers and Ween. I really don't know what I'll do with myself at 12:30am!!!!! Anyone know why they shut it down so early??? I'm sure they close due to noise ordinances and cost of keeping the venue staffed up. At 12:30 you can wander the camping area and look for a party. Thats your best bet. Its not Bonnaroo, where there is something going on all the time. Friday night its pretty crazy in the campground as everyone is ready to get with the party.

Can others who arrived on Saturday share their experience, i.e. did you have trouble getting a good camping spot? Also, are there certain times you can't drive in? For example, I plan on leaving Seattle first thing in the morning on Saturday, hopefully arriving by 9am. Will the gates (or whatever) for camping be open at that time? What time do the bands typically start playing? Thanks in advance! Gates should be open all night Friday into the day Saturday. I think you should be fine. By the way, it looks like Premier camping is sold out already. I emailed Sasquatch to see if they would be releasing any more premier spots and I will keep everyone posted on what I hear.

Ha Ha Ha, I've been doing the same, Love music, Hate computers. Wonder if we will get any new stuff by them? Yeah, I dont know if they are working any new stuff lately. I would guess that we will get a couple great cover songs, at least.

B+ for effort though.
With Booka Shade going to Wookie, there seems to be one too many acts on the Wookie Stage on Sunday.

no kidding about the sun wiping people out. i think it was in the low 80s last year but it felt like 100+ for some reason. the heat made me sick to my stomach a couple times, forcing me to miss half of the yeah yeah yeahs set after each sweltering day last year i was more than content with heading back to the campground at 10 or 11. they really should have some dance tent acts going into the early morning hours for people that want to keep partying though. Not trying to call you out, but the temps last year were in the mid 90's during the day. It felt hot because it was hot. And it was very draining. I was sucking down waters and beers because it was sweltering. But we didn't have any rain or hail or whatever. I'm hoping it wont be as hot this year, but I think I would rather have the heat than crazy hailstorms.

Never gone before because I was never a fan of the lineups and short sets, but for me personally My morning Jacket, Drive-by Truckers and Massive Attack are some of my favorite modern bands. And I've been wanting to see Ween forever at a festival. So I can see why some people are disappointed because it is obviously somewhat of a shift. But aside from the headliners, who I think if people are into the other indie acts they will love them, their seems to still be the typical Sasquatch acts - Indie/hippster stuff, dj's, big name hip hop, and some new buzz bands. I think MMJ, Massive Attack, and Ween will show the crowd a better idea of what headliners should be at festivals-all know how to change their stuff up,move the crowd, experiment, and bring great crowds. Massive Attack, Ween, MMJ are going to be bringing the heat for their headliner sets. I would expect MMJ and Ween to go as long as they can, two hours at the minimum. Plus they should bring a good crowd. I know Deadmau5 was there last year, but it looks like he got really big over the year. He's headlining Ultra over some really big names. Thats crazy. I'm expecting that he is going to bring something special to a night set at the Wookie.

For me if cost wasn't an issue, Coachella has the better line-up. Jay-Z, Gorillaz, Them Crooked Vultures, Faith No More, PiL, Spoon, Phoenix is alot of fire power. But the tickets are $90 more, not to mention I would probably have to fly there too. When you are paying for two people, it adds up quick.
Sasquatch came through with a very solid line-up. Not earth shattering but definitely solid with the makings of a great line-up. When you factor in the cost, the scenery, the people, its probably the best bang for your buck camping festival and there isn't 90,000 people like Roo. And I think the crowd at Sasquatch is almost as awesome as the scenery.
