So fucking grand! Pre-order complete. That album cover is ridiculously ugly. Also, very excited to see Gaytheist next Thursday night. NIIIIICE! It has been too long since I have had the pleasure of seeing Gaytheist. Enjoy buddy. I pre-ordered my copy this morning. Had to go with the color version.

Except it's totally Death Grips. That's the best part!! Probably Nick Reinhart in there since he was playing guitar on The Powers That B. I really wish I could go to that Showbox show. I would kill to see Nick and Zach on stage together. Maybe they will bust out a bygones song.

Chelsea Wolfe is coming to Bellingham. That made my freakin' day. 10/2 at The Shakedown She freaked me the fuck out at Psych Fest when I was up in the chips. I am taking that as a good thing. When you and I went and saw her at Barboza we were both completely zonked out before the show (you were like 10 shows in 10 days at that point or something, I was just hungover). I am excited to get a second chance with her. Her new songs are sounding massive.

I have always felt this way about them as well. I haven't seen them live though. A good chunk of my friend group rave about Gogol but I can never make it through more than a couple of songs. I would check them out live still. I would check pretty much any band out live at least once. I'm not a Gogol fan, album-wise. But I'll be damned if they don't put on a hell-of-a-show. Like watching SBTRKT was incredible, even though I thought his last album was trash. Just seeing a guy run around the stage layering with an insane amount of equipment was awe-inspiring. Yeah, live shows can change my opinion of a band sometimes (good or bad). I sold all of my Fucked Up albums after seeing them live. I just couldn't understand why I ever liked them after watching them.

Looks like Oakland is my confirmed destination for Beer and Baseball trip with my dad and brother. If Wonk or Chud (or anyone else) has any good food/drink recommendations in the east bay let me know! I saw this cool website: beerbybart.com

I find Gogol to be a gimmick. They play crappy eastern euro folk rock and run around like a bunch of idiots yelling into microphones. Nothing about their sound or their schtick appeals to me. I've actually seen them three times now, and the past two times I've walked away. Just don't get it. Too each their own, however. I have always felt this way about them as well. I haven't seen them live though. A good chunk of my friend group rave about Gogol but I can never make it through more than a couple of songs. I would check them out live still. I am going to a festival in Vegas called Life Is Beautiful. Not really the best lineup or anything but it worked out for us so we are jumping on it. There are a few nuggets that I am excited about though: Stevie Wonder Kendrick Lamar Thievery Corporation Run The Jewels Rebelution Badbadnotgood & Ghostface Killah Dan Deacon Two Gallants Shamir If any of you know some of the other bands on this lineup that you think are worth checking out let me know. lineup.lifeisbeautiful.com/ Like I said above...not really the best lineup but STEVIE WONDER! And they have a wicked announcement video:

Kendrick was great, but not as great as leaving early and being in the mid-front for the best dance session of the weekend at Hot Chip. When I knew I couldn't go I didn't bother looking at the schedule. I didn't realize those were overlapping sets. I would have done what you did. Hot Chip was one of my biggest sad points on missing Sasquatch this year. Them and Courtney of course.

I have a hard time believing Kendrick was lame. Got a couple of votes for the absolutely killed it end of the spectrum and one for the lame end. Anybody else have thoughts? I am curious because I will be seeing him headline in Vegas at the end of September. Not that it will change how I feel going into it but I am just wondering what the rest of you boarders thought of his set. It was probably my favourite set of the weekend. Just kinda lame they he pretty much ignored his new album. I heard his new one for the first time on Monday. I am still digesting it but my wife and I were talking about how cool those songs would be live. I get the bummer on not seeing those translated on stage. Also, are you from Canada? I thought you were a PDX guy. Favourite, eh?
