Haha we did the same thing with vodka in the water bottles. And I know of at least 10 other people who did the same thing. Too bad it was totally unnecessary. The security was non-existent. Did anyone try the $7 mojitos in the Bacardi tent? they were damn tasty.

I've actually had a much easier time crossing at the smaller border crossings. Last year we crossed at Sumas, there were 4 of us in the car, he didn't check any of our IDs, just asked where we were going and that was that. I was totally shocked/kinda wishing I had tried to smuggle some drugs or weapons haha.

Saturday: My Bloody Valentine - Kings of Leon Sunday - Ben Harper and Relentless7 - Elvis Costello Monday - NIN - Public Enemy Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Peter Bjorn and John, Conor Oberst & the Mystic Valley Band, TV on the Radio, Royksopp, Silversun Pickups, Band of Horses, Animal Collective, MGMT, Grizzly Bear, Portugal. The Man, The Decemberists, The Walkmen, Jenny Lewis, King Khan & the Shrines, Handsome Furs, Swan Lake, Chairlift, Girl Talk (not in tent), Dan Deacon, Gomez, Peanut Butter Wolf, The Sea and Cake, Fleet Foxes, Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Airbourne Toxic Event, White Lies, Blitzen Trapper, Cloud Cult, K'naan, The Gaslight Anthem, The Avett Brothers, M. Ward, The Thermals, St. Vincent, Sun Kil Moon, Monotonix, Passion Pit, John Vanderslice. I won't bother guessing all the local bands. Dance Tent (I think there may be some bigger names than people expect): DJ Z-Trip, Deadmau5, MSTRKRFT, Adam Freeland, Flosstradamus, L.A. Riots, Steve Aoki, N.A.S.A., Felix Cartal, U.S.E., Tobacco Most of these artists come from the ETP Pop festival in SF on May 23rd. www.metrowize.com/etd-pop-2009-lineupJust for fun, here are my original predictions from January 6th: "Kings of Leon, Broken Social Scene, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand, The Black Keys (or a Dan Auerbach solo set), The Decemberists, The Avett Brothers, The Airbourne Toxic Event, Thievery Corportation, Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, The Thermals, Flogging Molly, Gomez, Girl Talk , Jose Gonzalez, Jay Reatard, Black Kids, We Are Scientists , Of Montreal, Asobi Seksu, Late of the Pier, St. Vincent, Cut Copy, N.A.S.A., Heartless Bastards, The Black Lips, The Von Bondies, Friendly Fires, Mark Kozalek (aka. Sun Kil Moon), Grizzly Bear / Department of Eagles, A.C. Newman, Immaculate Machine, Swan Lake, Dan Deacon, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Andrew Bird, Lady Sovreign, Wooden Shjips , Ra Ra Riot, J. Tillman (no Fleet foxes), The Bird and the Bee, Loney, Dear, Little Joy, Ben Kweller, Ben Lee, Handsome Furs, The Lonely Island (the FOTC of 2009, more likely than Tenacious D), Abe Vigoda, The Living Things, Throw Me the Statue, MSTRKRFT, Great Lake Swimmers, Say Hi, Vetiver, Grand Archives, Vince Mira, Neko Case (hopefully not again), The Boy Least Likely To, The Whip, Obits, Mexican Institute of Sound, Mirah, The Shaky Hands, The Blakes, Kay Kay & His Weathered Underground, Tim Hecker Potential Headliners: Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, The Killers, Neil Young, RADIOHEAD (kidding) I also have a hunch that the Comedy Tent will be replaced with a Dance Tent this year. Hopefully it will be a much larger tent." Well I was half right about the dance tent. In 2008, 22 out of my 49 guesses were on the lineup. But to be fair we had a lot more confirmations this time last year. They've done an amazing job keeping this year's lineup under wraps.

Yeah Pemberton was somewhere between 40-45K people. I think the dance tent was more than 1500, but it was still WAY too small of a capacity. The tent itself was huge, however when at capacity the tent was still only about 1/3 full. Made no sense.

Wow, that's a very thorough analysis haha. I'd say Picturesque is probably their most well known/well received album.
I am praying that they will play "The Island, Come and see, The Landlord's Daughter, You'll not feel the drowning," it's unlikely since the song is 13 minutes long, but it is incredible.

While I would LOVE a Kinks reunion. Probably over almost any other reunion. Aren't those dates for "Kast Off Kinks" meaning Mick Avory is the only original member. Sorry but Ray Davies has to be there. I really can't see a true Kinks reunion happening any time soon.

Girl Talk has been listed to play Summercamp for a while know, I don't think that makes him out. He could easily play Summercamp on the 22nd and Sasquatch on the 25th. It's not like he's touring across the country in a van. Girl Talk is a one-off festival whore. Hell I'm sure LN would pay for his plane ticket to get him there.

this is kind of a shot in the dark but, Toad the Wet Sprocket has a couple new early May dates. Would they still be considered a reunion band? I really don't think they are even close to headliner material, but could be on the lineup. Just a thought... www.pollstar.com/resultsArtist.aspx?ID=7514&SortBy=Date

I was just told the headliners today by someone who knows. I know many people say that so it will be doubted. Oh well. I promised I wouldn't say who they were but I will say that the guesses on here are much closer than the frenzy of internet noize that was the Coachella Board leading up to their announcement. I will also say: no radiohead, no pearl jam, no no doubt I can't find the post by 'felix' that people are referring to but he is correct: two repeat headliners and a reunion band. I was also told Kings of Leon and that one is pretty established from other sources so I don't mind saying that. The last name I was told was not a headliner but, as I said on the Sasquatch blog today, will be more like Kanye was in 2005. Different vibe by a well known name. I'm just finding it interesting how this all looks when (for the first time) I know who the top names are and others are trying to piece it together (and generally doing a pretty good job). As skeptical as I am to believe these people with supposed "inside information" I do tend to believe you on this one. Especially since it's not the first person to say this, and you aren't giving specific names. The only possibilities for repeat headliners (ruling out String Cheese Incident, Coldplay, The Postal Service, Pixes, The Cure, R.E.M., Bjork) are Beck, Ben Harper, NIN, Beastie Boys, or The Flaming Lips. I can't see the Flaming Lips headlining again after last year. My best guesses would be NIN and Ben Harper since they both have a lot of new material since their last appearances (though it seems strange to have 2 repeat headliners from the same year). I don't really see Beasties coming back again so soon. I really hope Beck is one of them, but I doubt it since he headlined Bumbershoot in September. As for the "one like Kanye in '05", my best guess would be Snoop Dogg, but who knows? I'm having a hard time guessing this supposed reunion headliner... Jane's Addiction? Pavement is unlikely. Does MBV count? Blur? It's gonna be a loooong 4 days.

I'm pretty sure I saw someone with a hookah on the hill last year. I wouldn't count on getting it in, but you could get lucky.

I also heard some stories about the infamous Brittany. Hope she is back this year.
Had a couple funny moments last year. On Saturday a bunch of us were just hanging out in the campground and found one of those huge orange cones...so naturally we decided it would make a fantastic beer bong. Several beers later we look at the clock and realize it's only 10:30am and we're all totally hammered. It was a good day.
On Sunday night I'm hanging out with a new friend watching The Cure, and towards the end she was getting really tired, so we decided to go lie up on the rocks. Anyways, we both fell asleep and woke up at around 3am. Everyone is gone, except for about 20-30 hispanic workers cleaning up all the garbage. I open my eyes with this guy 2 feet away from my face picking up empty cans around me. Needless to say we got some weird looks, but eventually started to stumble our way back to the campground. I'm giving my friend a piggy-back and so by the time we get to the parking lot we are both exhausted (and it has started raining). We find a random sleeping bag lying in the grass so we decide to grab it and take another nap in the parking lot in the rain haha. After that we stumbled back to the campsite at around 4:30. I walk her back to her tent (we had just met that night), and realize I have no idea where I am. I walk around in circles for about 15 minutes only to discover my tent is located about 20 feet from her's in the next row over. Still one of the greatest coincidences I have ever experienced to this day.

Too bad. They were hands down my favourite act of last year. One of the best shows I've ever seen. So glad I skipped MM to see them (even though I love MM too).

This is probably nothing, but the White Stripes are playing Conan on February 20th for his last ever show on Late Night (before he takes over The Tonight Show). Perhaps they might be interested in embarking on a tour after that if Meg is ok to play? Perhaps a one off Sasquatch headlining spot? Yeah I know this is purely speculation and wishful thinking, but a boy can dream can't he? At the very least, now you can tune in for what I'm sure will be a great tv performance. www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/149115-white-stripes-to-play-conans-last-late-night
