And Tom, I'd say that if you like Ghostland Observatory, it's no surprise that you don't like Fleet Foxes. They could hardly be more different. What are people's take on Robotique Majestique? (the new Ghostland album). I really can't get into it. I LOVE a lot of the tracks from Papparazzi Lighting (Vibrate, Sad Sad City, Piano Man all kick ass) but to be honest I think the new album is terrible! (For once I actually agree with a Pitchfork review www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/49081-robotique-majestique) On the other hand I am starting to dig Fleet Foxes more and more. 'Mykonos' is a great track off the Sun Giant EP. Ahh, I agree with another Pitchfork review www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/48881-sun-giant-epWhat is this world coming to?!?!?

Flight of the Conchords (because they almost never play live at festivals, so it will be interesting to see what they do. I agree though, they might suck) New Pornos/Hives (there must be a lot of Canadians posting here) Yeasayer is awesome as well, but again too early. I will really try to see them though. To be totally honest when the lineup first came out I was probably most excited about Flight of the Conchords (Iam quite ashamed to say, because I love Sasquatch #1 for the music). I love the HBO special and thought they would be great to see live. But now listening to the new album I really don't like the polished sound of it and their attempted instrumentation. FOTC is all about the improv, quirkiness, and their hilarious singing style. I hope they bring something unexpected rather than just singing the songs as they are on the album or else it could be very disappointing. What do the Hives have to do with Canadians? Even New Pornos for that matter...I don't think they are any more popular here than in the States. See Yeasayer. There will be time to party during Ozomatli!

Hmm tough to pick only 5...
Top 5 1. Flaming Lips 2. The National 3. Okkervil River (surprised no one has mentioned them yet!) 4. Flight of the Conchords 5. Yeasayer (recently fell in love w/ them)
Honourable mention: Beirut, The Kooks (although very disappointed in their new album), REM, Built to Spill, The Cure
Terrible Trio 1. OZOMATLI (will be 7 people watching that set) 2. Newton Faulkner (supposedly like Jack Johnson with dreads?!?) 3. Dyme Def (let's be honest here...)

www.pembertonchamber.com/blog/Seems pretty legit to me. It can get pretty hot around the end of July/August but probably not as hot as the Gorge. The area is definitely not as arid and desert-like as George. I've been camping in Pemberton a few times. It a beautiful area. I am ridiculously excited for this fest, not to take anything away from Sasquatch!

WHAAAT!?!?!
Why have I not heard of this festival before? I know its new but still! Pemberton is so much closer than the Gorge too. I am kind of speechless right now.

The Mars Volta have officialy been added! Check the Sasquatch website. I LOVE SASQUATCH. Just thought I would let everyone know. The Mars Volta followed by The Flaming Lips UFO Show... That is definitely going to be the most trippy, fucked up, mind blowing 3 or 4 hours of my life. I cannot wait. Lips were phenomenal in '06. I never thought I'd have another chance to see them again.

I really like both the Decemberists and Ryan Adams. But I've also already seen the Decemberists in '06. I really enjoyed their set. However, the Crane Wife doesn't strike me as an album with a lot of good live songs. Although The Island, Come and See...(that 12 minute song) would be pretty epic!
If I had to choose I'd definitely go with Ryan Adams. If he brings the Cardinals along I'd hope to hear mainly material from Cold Roses, 21, and Jacksonville City Nights. Easy Tiger not so much.
But hey if either are added i'd be very pleased indeed.

I realize this isn't exactly breaking news but... The rumours first started when that mysterious Sasquatch poster appeared on a graphic design blog. invisiblecreature.blogspot.com/2008/02/2008-sasquatch-festival.htmlSince then, both Ozomatli and Yeasayer have been added but were unconfirmed when the poster surfaced. It also listed Ryan Adams & the Cardinals on [Sunday]. Now Ryan Adams was mentioned on the lineup for [Sunday] on the Presidents' tour dates. blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/earcandy/archives/135108.aspConsidering [Sunday] has the least number of acts so far I'd say the announcement is imminent. I am a huge Ryan Adams fan so I really hope he is announced. Anyone seen him live before?

I am liking it so far. You can definitely hear elements of the postal service, as well as Chris Walla's sound coming to the forefront.

hot off the press. "Sasquatch Returns! Just added: Kathleen Edwards, The Whigs, Grand Hallway" source: sasquatch homepage. Haven't heard much music from any of these additions... I know Kathleen Edwards is a Canadian folky singer songwriter. Nothing to get too excited about I don't think. I've heard good things about the Whigs. I guess they would be considered a garage band. I haven't heard a thing about Grand Hallway but I really hope they play right before Grand Archives.

You can add Foals to the list of bands that could be added 05-22 San Francisco, CA - Pop Scene 05-24 West Hollywood, CA - The Troubadour 05-25 San Diego, CA - Brick by Brick 05-28 Portland, OR - Doug Fir Lounge 05-29 Vancover, British Columbia - Richard's on Richards 05-30 Seattle, WA - Neumos www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/49160-foals-add-dates-open-for-remAlso they are opening for R.E.M. in London, so that is another connection (although they would have to be playing on Monday rather than Saturday)

There's what, 55 bands? Expect 15-25 more before it's all said and done. I count 56 on the Sasquatch website...not including The Mars Volta. Unless they are planning on allowing longer sets than previous years then they will definitely need a few more bands to fill up all 3 stages.

Wikipedia also added Jack Johnson, The Kinks, Schoolyard Heroes, Modest Mouse, The Kooks, Uffie, R.E.M. and 65 days of static...... Now, Travis Hay got insider info that Jack Johnson wouldn't be there, but who knows.....The Kooks, R.E.M., Modest Mouse and 65 Days of Static are basically confirmed. I can't find anything that supports The Kinks playing, their unofficial says they're playing a farewell gig in the UK on May 24th. Schoolyard Heroes is local, a possibility, but their music is more Warped Tour, but still possible, no confirmation. I'm not familiar with Uffie, but she is labelmates with Justice, no confirmations that I've seen for either. What do people know? I have found that Wikipedia has been fairly accurate with Sasquatch! over the years...... Just checked out Wikipedia and the list now shows: 2008 The Cure, The Breeders, Fleet Foxes, David Bazan, Gang of Four, The Cave Singers, Ozomatli, 65daysofstatic Schoolyard Heroes Justice Metric Don't know if maybe I was just in a different article or if i was changed. Interestingly though Justice and Metric remain on the list. But it doesn't even have R.E.M. of Modest mouse.. All in all i wouldn't look into it too much.

Also where are you seeing that the Flaming Lips are playing Bonnaroo? As far as I can tell they aren't touring at all.

I would say those emails were likely related to the accidental posting of the 2006 Sasquatch lineup on Pollstar a couple weeks back..
I'd be pretty shocked to see either those bands in the lineup come Monday (although with the Flaming Lips who knows)
On another bad note:
Cat Power Tour Dates 05-26 Lisbon, Portugal - Coliseum 05-28 Porto, Portugal - Coliseum 05-30 Barcelona, Spain - Primavera Sound Festival
Guess I won't end up predicting 100% of the lineup...
However that is certainly good news about M83. I'm not totally convinced he'll be there but he would be amazing to see at the Gorge especially!
The Cave Singers will open on Death Cab's upcoming tour. Since they are already confirmed that should further solidify the rumour that Death Cab will be at 'Squatch.

I've gone ahead and made a list of the bands I think have a good shot at playing Sasquatch. I've spent a ton of time searching other festival sites and tour dates looking for clues because i cannot wait 6 more days for the announcement! (plus it is just fun to guess...and dream).
Headliners: The Cure (Sunday), R.E.M. (Saturday or Monday), and Pearl Jam or Eddie Vedder solo??(Saturday or Monday)
Mainstage: Death Cab, Modest Mouse, Gang of Four, The Raconteurs, The Breeders, M.I.A., Cat Power (yes, I am aware she is playing Primavera Sound), My Morning Jacket, Tegan & Sara, Cold War Kids, The Cops, Jose Gonzalez, Galactic, Gogol Bordello, Band of Horses, Built to Spill, New Pornos (mayyyyyybe because Destroyer is rumoured and Neko Case has been at the last 2 fests), Rilo Kiley
Yeti stage (or whatever the small one is called): Vampire Weekend (also playing Primavera but they seem to be the "festival buzz band" of 2008), Gutter Twins, Destroyer, Shout Out Louds (i realllly hope), The Cave Singers, Jens Lekman, !!!, Fleet Foxes, Dave Bazan, 65 Days of Static, Heavenly States, The National, The Long Blondes, Josh Morrison, MGMT, Devon Williams, Siberian, Kay Kay and the Weathered Underground, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings (another one playing many fests), Dan Deacon, Battles, The Cinematic Orchestra, Manchester Orchestra, The Bees, Mark Kozelek, Yoav, The Avett Brothers.
May be a little too optimistic but (as far as I can tell) none of the afformentioned bands have any conflicts. The rumour of the Comedy Tent makes me think that there will only be two music stages this year, which also makes it easier to fill a 3 day festival with quality bands. My list is a little short on mainstage bands (and a few of my guesses may not even be considered big enough for the mainstage). Lets hope that means there are some more big surprises to come.
Finally...I don't believe we will be seeing Kanye West, NERD, Lupe Fiasco, Ben Folds (plays 4 washington shows in april), Ladyton and Datarock (won't play seattle, vancouver, sasquatch, then san francisco on consecutive nights unfortunatly), obviously no Radiohead or Jack Johnson, Iron & Wine (possibly in Europe still), Justice (in the Netherlands a few days later), New Young Pony Club (are in the UK on may 25th), The Black Lips (are in the UK till at least may 15th), The Black Keys (look like they will be on the east coast by then).
All in all, it'll be tough to beat the 2006 lineup, but by the looks of things Sasquatch! 2008 should come close.

Coachella>/=Sasquatch>Bonnaroo>APW Gotta disagree with you on APW. Radiohead and Kings of Leon! No other festival can top that. I'd put Sasquatch just ahead of Coachella and Bonnaroo comparing the number of quality bands relative to the size of the festival in total.
