Here and all settled up in Austin. Initial thoughts? Lots of places to drink and lots of food trucks. I'm cool with the former. Yeah, yeah, I realize I'm in the minority of those who aren't all gaga over food trucks. Oh well. They just don't do much for me. Deal with it.

And funny thing I learned about Coke Bust (was reading random select band's biographies on the hopscotch site), is they're a STRAIGHT EDGE band.

Holy shit Merzbow is coming to America! Lumps, you are obviously in Coke Bust. BUSTED. As well as performing as DJ Paypal to make a little internet credits on the side. From Merzbow's website: Those shows are going to be fucking incredible, and they're all he has scheduled in this country right meow. You lucky bastahd. I would be giving this festival serious consideration had Godspeed not just announced a 3peater in the PNW the same weekend. DAMMIT, ALMOST HAD YOU! Yeah, that's one of the things I love about Hopscotch is they last year started an improviser in residence thing. Last year, Chris Corsano took that role, and I got to see him perform multiple times at day parties (though unfortunately none of the sets for the main festival involved him, I had it almost completely set in my mind that he was going to end up playing with Deerhoof, or maybe even Thee Oh Sees, but alas). Of course, Burritoman, I'm sure you already knew this, but on top of being an insanely great improvisational drummer, he's also Bjork's current touring drummer. Then this year, Merzbow takes that role which is always going to be killr.

Damn y'all got me. That period there where I was sneaking onto the internet at my boarding school in Somoa was tricky, but I did what I could.

It's that time of year again where I brag about the Hopscotch lineup and see if anyone cares. Not as amazing as last year, but then again it was never gonna be amazing as last year. Also, one of my bands is playing it this year, so that's cool. $1 to (or a loonie?) to whoever guesses which band that is. I'm interested to see what bands you people think I am. (Sorry, I shouldn't have used "you people." That's offensive.

Damn, that Sled Island lineup is beautiful, then again with John Dwyer and Tim Hecker curating, I didn't know what I was expecting. Do it. I'll host party with strippers and kegs (thats pretty much what my house will be like all summer anyway). Kewl.

Well, I don't know why that other pic didn't poooost, but I got theeese
Stephen Malkmus and Friends - Can's Ege Bamyasi Thee Oh Sees - Moon Sick
Didn't even know the latter existed. Apparently for some reason, it wasn't on the official list, and my local record store only got 2 copies in. It's 4 outtakes from the Floating Coffin sessions. I really wish I could hurry up and get my record player fixed and lissssten to these.

Have they ever played a show with Swans? I would bet so, since they made an appearance on The Seer. Hanging out with Swans has to seriously effect some dudes. I don't know that they've ever played a show with Swans per se but they were Michael Gira's backing band for a number of years when he was recording as Angels of Light. It's not Swans but I'm sure some of the Gira magic rubbed off on them. More fun fax: Akron/Family's first 4 albums were released under Gira's Young God record label, and the first 3 were produced by Gira himself.

I love all the British comedians Was fortunate enough to see Daniel Kitson in New York. He rarely comes overseas. If anyone goes to this and even remotely cares about standup, go see him. He also has an adorable stutter.

So I may be staying at this weird mansion that Sailor Jerry's buys out for SXSW when I go there. Free tattooes are involved. I see myself getting really drunk and accidentally getting a tattoo. I'll keep y'all updated.

More accurate than you'd think. Well, I don't know, half of this I don't understand, we definitely have plenty of "Dr. Garbanzoures" though.

Y'all if given the opportunity to see Chelsea Light Moving or Mac DeMarco, do that.
Thurston Moore has still got it even at 54. Mac DeMarco and his band are the epitome of entertainers, and even if you're a little bored by the recordings, the live show bringz da enahgee.
