Danny Brown is going to have something to say about that.. So will P.O.S. El-p would like a word, as well.

It was more the "We are going to show you pictures you can't see and read our jokes directly off of flash cards" type deal. I actually found the first season of the show pretty funny, but onstage they were a disaster. I agree completely. It didn't seem like they thought it out at all. Even just straight improv would have been preferable. "Here's all the signs we have in Portland....and here's what our menus look like." And the dreaded audience participation. uggh.

Trailer Park Boys were shit. Probably would've helped if their microphones actually worked properly. Still...not the best. Portlandia, on the other hand, was a complete mess.

Is anyone else as torn up about the Elvis Costello / Killer Mike conflict as I am? I never would have imagined this being a decision I would have to make in my life. The fact that I get the chance to see two so dissimilar artists in the same day is part of what I love about the 'Squatch, but the fact that I have to choose between them is killing me. I'm right there with ya. The way I see it is this: Mike's amazing, and I probably listen to more of his music in general, but Costello is fucking Costello. The chances I (and presumably you) get to see a legend like him at all, let alone on the main stage at such a beautiful venue, are few and far between. I'm planning on catching mostly Elvis' set, and popping over for a song or two of Mike's just to see the magic. KM will tour again guaranteed, probably before the year's up, and when that happens you can enjoy a full show. And he may even be better suited for an indoor venue anyway. I think missing all of/the majority of the Imposters set would lead to regret, but that's just my speculation. Hope it helps. That said: I also feel compelled to watch some Killer just to top off an amazing day of hip hop. Danny Brown, El-p, Earl Sweat...gotta check out some of those Cthulhu artists too.

Friday: ZZ Ward if I get in early enough, Red Fang, Japandroids, Built to Spill on the hill, Arctic Monkeys (perhaps move to Youth Lagoon towards the end of their set to make a quicker transition to), Vampire Weekend (this crowd will be back up to the Cthulu, I swear), Baauer because I'll be all revved up from VW, back to campsite for a possible all-nighter (would love to see the sunrise on my birthday)
Saturday: Morning = recovery time, afternoon = drinking time (may wander into the grounds to check out random bands and chill - if there are any Saturday afternoon bands that people are really enthusiastic about, lemme know), Devendra Banheart, Akron/Family (bummer i'll miss Offerman), Bloc Party, Divine Fits, John Talabot, Tame Impala (probably leave early to get a nice spot for Sigur Ros), Empire of the Sun.
Sunday: get in early for Torche, Danny Brown, Tallest Man on Earth, El-p, last couple songs of Dropkick Murphys, toss-up between Shad and Ed Sharpe, Earl Sweatshirt, try and get some of Elvis and some of Killer Mike, Grimes, a bit of Mumford but leave early to get a good spot for Primus 3D
Monday: may head in for Chvrches, if not ?? until Dirty Projectors, Death Grips, Cake, Alt-j, last bit of Ariel Pink, then Postal Service for a nice relaxing end to the fest.
Sorry of that got a bit particular - I'm knee deep in exams right now so I'm really enjoying the fantasizing.

Azeilia Banks vs Death Grips vs Toro Y Moi. Azealia Banks and Toro Y Moi split Grips are going to put on one of the most energetic, aggressive and impressive sets of the weekend. Pretty much a guarantee. I guess if it isn't really "your thing" you could miss it....but otherwise, no excuse. Azealia would be nice but can hardly compare. Can't really speak on Toro y Moi.

The hardest one for me right now is Reignwolf vs. Red Fang. I was stoked when I saw Red Fang was going to be there. I had never heard Reignwolf, but after watching some of his performances on YouTube, I was really looking forward to his set too. Have you seen Red Fang before? That could make the decision easier. Reignwolf is an amazing guitarist and performer, but RF is one of the best metal bands in the PNW, and everyone I know says they have a fantastic live show. Plus their set bleeds into Japandroids and that's just gonna be ragin' couple of hours. Really depends on what kind of mood you're going for, I guess. Pretty bummed I'll be missing Reignwolf at Squatch for the second year in a row, but I'll catch him at Squamish so it's gravy.

It's interesting how for most people Saturday is either completely stacked or an immense void. I'm in the ladder camp (no belt sanders here,) but my other days are stacked pretty firmly. It also appears that I'll be at the Bigfoot the most - by a long shot.
It's kind of nice, though, to have a bit of breathing room in your schedule. Gives you the opportunity to wander between stages, pick up merch, load up on free shots of Fuze, etc. Or just use those precious several hours to recover from the previous night/enjoy the campsite. Which I'm thinking I will desperately need, considering Friday's lineup.

Also, I need advice - Baths or the 30-minute Killer Mike set? I agree with Rustuuu and hope he shows up during El-P's set. Almost a guarantee that he'll show up, seeing as they're on the same day. If so, we can expect some of that new Run the Jewels shit, maybe a bit of Tougher Colder Killer, maybe Butane, but if you wanna hear the majority Mike's shit off R.A.P. then you'll probably have to go to to his set. I haven't seen Baths, but I saw Mike this past summer. Great stage presence, and those songs are a blast live - but he is a very large man, and sometimes he can't keep up with his own lyrics. Still, I'd recommend catching some of the set, if you can.

Very pleased with this. Far less conflict than expected. I guess the logic behind the Vampire Weekend situation is that half of their audience would be at Macklemore...but we'll see how that pans out. This could be an instance where the festival just falls flat on it face. I can't really believe they wouldn't just switch stage placement but I guess kid did have a Billboard #1 hit... Sigur Ros on the main stage at 11-12:30= bliss. It's pretty interesting how Torche and Red Fang are both in the afternoon. They don't want us rioting. Hey man, I'm all for slowly integrating the metal into this festival. Hopefully it means we'll see bigger names in the future. Fucking stoked for both of these, though...Red Fang>>Japandroids especially. Also, whether he's aware of it or not, I'm telepathically high-fiving Burrito because DP aren't at 2 in the afternoon. That's going to be a lovely set. Holy shit, ladies and gentleman...just a month and a bit to go.

Titus Andronicus, Flying Lotus. Is this a guess? Or did you see that somewhere? No, no, I just like making declarative statements when it comes to speculatin'. In the event that I'm right, it makes me appear rather badass. In fact, both of them are pretty unlikely. FlyLo for the reason rustuuu pointed out, Titus because they play Primavera and then Britain (with only the 25th off) in late May. So, basically, I spectacularly fail at appearing badass.

Davers - MUCH appreciated. Red Fang was on his list, so that's great. I haven't listened to nearly as much Japandroids as I should have at this point, so I will get on that. Torche is new to me so I will do some homework. I did a post in this thread about Torche if that helps, but yeah, definitely do your own research. You know your man better than I.

This would be absolutely amazing! I second the motion. Rapsquatch 2013. I had recently done chops and it was not the post rock I was looking for. It was funny because my ladyfriend likes Spiritualized, but missed their set. And then when we all went to watch "Mogwai" for a while she kept saying "this band sucks."

Swing Lo Magellan is a significantly less popular record than Bitte Orca, but not this significant. Oh yeah? I made that assertion based on my own opinion and the relative accessibility of the new LP, but then again, accessibility does not always equal popularity. In any event, you're right, it's a dramatic shift. Weird. We'll see if it sticks in the official schedule. Unrelated: with Red Fang, Japandroids and Arctic Monkey all on opening day, looks like we're seeing the semi-resurrection of Loud Friday. This pleases me. The awesomeness of Foo Dr. Garbanzohters aside, DFA 1979 was one of my favourite shows of 2011...I think I remember reading someone on here saying that mosh pit was "hilarious" in a derogatory way...and it was! Funny, fun, and friendly. Doing the robot during the breakdowns was a lasting memory from that year.

DP in the early afternoon kind of sucks, but everything else is lookin' pretty good. Yeah this seems kind of strange to me, they played in the evening during 2010 right? And they've only become more popular since then. At least it'll be good motivation to get my ass up to enjoy as much of the last day as possible.
